Having unexpectedly crossed into the world of One Piece and become the infamous Blackbeard, his thoughts had completely merged with that of the character. Now, Blackbeard was him, and he was Blackbeard.
His mind held no information about Luffy; he only knew that he was on the run after killing Saatchi, recruiting several equally ambitious and formidable crew members along the way.
As for where they stood in the manga's storyline, it was truly hard to determine.
The vast ocean, heavy and majestic, captivated him—a man who had never seen the sea in his life. Yet even such unchanging scenery could become tiresome after a while.
He had to find some amusement; otherwise, this long journey would be unbearably dull.
This newspaper had been snatched from an old man watching over the town before he set off. He had expected the old man to be concerned about worldly matters and significant events, but instead, he found only this kind of content.
"Swish, swish."
Seeing Blackbeard flipping through the newspaper again and again, the helmsman Bajess couldn't help but speak up.
"Captain, is the mermaid princess White Star really that beautiful? You've been flipping through that newspaper for three days; it's almost falling apart."
Though the captain was known for his lecherous ways, it was unusual for him to fixate on one person.
"Once we complete this opportunity, there will be no shortage of women. Is it really necessary to hang on to one tree?"

Blackbeard couldn't hold back any longer. He rolled up the newspaper into a cylinder and tossed it at Bajess's head.
A perfect hit!
"Get back to rowing! I want to see Jaya before tonight!"
This was a pirate gathering place he had heard from his crew, a perfect spot to hide and restock supplies.
"Or else I'll punish you by making you eat pig intestines!"
Blackbeard issued the command fiercely to Bajess. That brat had tarnished his reputation for no reason.
"Really? A dish praised by the master must be delicious!"
"Captain, you are so good to me."
Bajess scratched his head, his face full of anticipation as he spoke to Blackbeard.
"Get lost."
Blackbeard shouted angrily at Bajess.
This guy is hopeless.
How did I end up with such a crew member?
However, when Bajess rolled up his sleeves and used a wooden oar to push the drifting ship to keep pace with the flying birds, Blackbeard couldn't help but be impressed.
As expected of the crew member I carefully selected; he really is something.
With his keen eyes, Blackbeard noticed that the bird overhead was a newsboy bird, laden with newspapers, tiredly working for the capitalists.
Finally, I can see the new newspapers. I need to keep up with the beauty pageants—no, I mean international affairs.
"Oka, help me bring that bird down!"

Fan Oka had always been taciturn, lost in thought, and no one knew what he was pondering.
However, his marksmanship was indeed precise; sitting atop the mast, he casually fired a shot that struck a soaring seabird.
Watching the bird lose its momentum and begin to plummet, Fan Oka rarely spoke a word:

Blackbeard extended his hand to catch the seabird, black smoke emanating from his palm as it slowly consumed the creature, leaving only a bundle of newspapers in his grasp.

Eagerly, Blackbeard opened the newspaper to read.
As he unfolded it, several bold black characters caught his eye.
"The evil plan of former Warlord of the Sea Crocodile has been thwarted by a Rear Admiral of the Navy."
Blackbeard couldn't help but murmur, "Crocodile has been defeated?"
"What time is this?"
“Could it be...”
As Blackbeard pondered deeply, a burly man wrapped in a purple turban leaned over to sneak a glance at the news on the newspaper.
After all, drifting at sea for so long was truly boring.
“When did this happen? The Crocodile was actually defeated.”
“That’s someone who is on par with the infamous Barrett!”
The diligent rower, Bajess, immediately set aside his work to check out the news upon hearing about Crocodile's defeat.
Blackbeard didn’t pay attention to Bajess; instead, he connected the timing of Crocodile's failure with his own pursuit, arriving at a clear conclusion.
“I understand now. I know everything.”
“It’s Monkey D. Luffy who has defeated Crocodile, heading towards the Sky Island arc.”
“And we will meet in Magic Valley Town for a classic encounter.”
In an instant, Blackbeard thought of many things, including the iconic line:

It was precisely this line that attracted countless fans.
But now he was Blackbeard, and things were bound to change.
"What would happen if I sent Luffy to the underwater prison?"
"Would Kapu go crazy? Would Red-Haired come after me? Where would the Marineford War lead?"
Just thinking about it was thrilling!

Blackbeard slapped Bajess awake.
"What are you doing here? Aren't you supposed to be rowing properly?"
"No, Captain, I just heard about Crocodile."
Bajess hurriedly explained that he wasn't slacking off; he had been rowing, but he wanted to come over and check out the big news.
"What does Crocodile have to do with you? Hurry up! We have urgent matters. Notify all crew members to change course to Magic Valley Town. We need to arrive there before tonight, or you can forget about eating for the whole day!"
"But we're already on the way to Magic Valley Town!"
"Magic Valley Town is just a small town on Jaya Island."
Bajess hesitated, wanting to say that the captain's mind seemed to be deteriorating, but he was afraid that if he did, the captain might hit him and he'd end up as foolish as Blackbeard.
It would be better to consult Doctor Poison Q later for a thorough examination. Although his medical skills were lacking and he only knew how to poison people, he was still a doctor.
A doctor should be able to treat illnesses.
Blackbeard's face turned red from Bajess's words, but thankfully his thick black beard covered it; otherwise, he would have been embarrassed in front of everyone.
Blackbeard had a thick skin, and after two seconds, he returned to normal, launching into a tirade at Bajess.
“Knowing we’re heading to Magic Valley Town, why are you still dawdling?”
“If it weren’t for your laziness, we would have arrived by now.”
Alright, alright, the focus shifted away from the issue.
But was this really the best approach? After some contemplation, Blackbeard decided to soften his earlier words. He patted Bajess on the shoulder.
“Bajess, let’s give it our all. If we reach Magic Valley Town tonight, I’ll let you eat as much as you want. Buy whatever you crave.”
After all, we are pirates—fierce pirates—not exactly the good guys.
If there’s no food, we’ll just take what we need.
That’s how real pirates operate.
“Really? I want to eat pig intestines!” Bajess exclaimed with anticipation.
“Get lost.”
