"Make way," Jiang Chen said.
The pair of siblings quickly stepped aside, their eyes wide with anticipation.
Jiang Chen slowly raised his hand, forming a blade with his fingers. With a gentle swipe, a visible surge of energy sliced through the air, cleaving the massive tree in half.
The tree crashed to the ground, freeing the Ivory Tiger. However, the beast was no fool; as soon as it was free, it bolted away. Jiang Chen's strike was terrifying enough to send the creature into a panic, causing it to lose control. The pressure from his attack felt like a mountain collapsing—utterly overwhelming.
Jiang Chen had no intention of killing the Ivory Tiger. Every animal here was akin to a prehistoric creature and a protected species; it would be a shame to take its life.
"Do you still want to see more?" Jiang Chen asked, looking at his astonished companions with a faint smile.
"N-no, that's enough," they stammered, swallowing hard. The scene had left them in awe; if this was the power of a casual strike, what would a full-force attack be like? It could very well split a mountain in two.
In that moment, they suddenly found themselves reluctant to flee. They felt that the elder had misled them about the dangers of the outside world. If one young man possessed such formidable strength, then it was indeed terrifying and dangerous out there.
Jiang Chen was unaware that his effortless display had shattered the worldview of these two young people.
"Now that you believe in my strength, can we have a proper conversation?" Jiang Chen said with a smile.
The siblings realized they couldn't run away now and nodded in agreement.
The brother was named Tie Shan and the sister Tie Luan. Both were originally from the outside world but had been taken in by an elder named Tie in this secluded place. This location wasn't entirely isolated; individuals of certain ranks were permitted to leave.
The clothing and supplies here were sourced from outside. Rather than being an idyllic paradise cut off from civilization, it resembled a Hidden Sect with a unique position.
The higher-ups had never concealed the existence of the outside world but painted it in such grim terms that it discouraged longing for it. Thus, Tie Shan and Tie Luan, who were aware of their origins, never fantasized about the outside world. To them, it was hell; living here felt like paradise. No one wished to fall from heaven into hell until one day when Tie Shan inadvertently overheard several drunken elders discussing the outside world. In their drunken chatter, they described it differently—though they claimed people outside were weak, they were clever and that the world was rapidly evolving.
In short, they conveyed that the outside world was vast and exciting.
Young people are always filled with curiosity and a thirst for knowledge.
Upon hearing this secret, Tie Shan could no longer sit still. He felt compelled to explore the outside world and perhaps even seek out his biological parents.
Later, Tie Shan shared his thoughts with Tie Luan. Having grown up together as childhood friends—almost like true siblings—they shared a close bond due to their shared background as orphans from the outside world.
Of course, their closeness was purely sibling-like; neither Tie Shan nor Tie Luan harbored any romantic feelings for each other—one saw the other as an older brother while the other viewed him as a younger sister, their relationship innocent and uncomplicated.
