Jiang Chen knew that there was no rush. What he needed to do now was to understand the situation here. Since there were flowers, trees, and wild animals, it was highly likely that descendants of ancient humans existed in this place.
Jiang Chen gazed into the distance. To the east, south, west, and north, there seemed to be no end in sight. Of course, this could be due to the curvature of the terrain, but from his observation, it appeared that this space stretched for dozens of miles.
Such a vast expanse would be difficult for humans to explore, even for ancient cultivators from Earth. It was likely that this was a masterpiece of nature itself, later modified by ancient humans. At the very least, the formation that maintained the operation of this place had been left behind by powerful practitioners.
“Let’s head east and take a look,” Jiang Chen murmured to himself. With a deep connection to the East as a Huaxia person, he felt particularly drawn to that direction.
He leaped lightly from one massive tree to another. Each tree here had a trunk diameter of several meters and was exceptionally sturdy. Jiang Chen moved stealthily among the treetops, making his way forward.
This area could be considered a primeval forest; fierce beasts roamed freely, and there was no sign of human presence. After traveling for over ten miles, Jiang Chen found himself still surrounded by an endless expanse.
This place was even larger than he had imagined.
Suddenly, Jiang Chen's keen senses picked up rustling sounds coming from a thicket about a mile away, along with human voices engaged in conversation.
He quickly concealed himself within the dense canopy of a large tree and listened intently. Although they were quite far away, he could clearly hear their dialogue and even understood it.
To his surprise, they were speaking Huaxia Language. Though their accents were thick, it was still easy to comprehend.
“Senior Brother, we should go back. If the Elders find out, we’ll definitely be locked up,” one voice said.
“This opportunity is rare. If we miss it now, it will be hard to escape later. Do you want to live your whole life here?” another replied.
“The Elders say the outside world is dangerous. In their eyes, we are outsiders who cannot be accepted,” said a third voice.
“That’s just what the Elders use to scare us. I once overheard them talking while drunk; they said the outside world is vast and that people out there are weak—weaker than Qingyu Chickens. If we go out there, no one can harm us.”
“Really? Weaker than Qingyu Chickens?”
“Absolutely.”
“Alright then, don’t worry! I don’t want to spend my whole life here either; we don’t belong here.”
After this exchange, silence fell over them.
Jiang Chen couldn’t help but smile. If Earthlings discovered this place, they would likely develop it into a tourist destination—perhaps one of the most famous in the world. However, it seemed that those living here had little attachment to their surroundings; they wanted to escape.
He stood quietly in the treetops and waited. About five minutes later, the voices grew closer until he finally saw two figures: a man and a woman in their twenties. What surprised Jiang Chen wasn’t their appearance but their clothing.
They were wearing modern attire.
The young man sported sneakers, casual pants, and a long-sleeve T-shirt while the young woman wore white shoes and a somewhat mature-looking dress. However, their hairstyles were somewhat retro; they had their hair styled into buns secured with blue ribbons that fluttered in the breeze. The combination of vintage hairstyles with modern clothing created an incongruous effect; if they walked down a street dressed like that, they would surely attract countless curious glances from passersby.
