Su Mu and the man in black trudged through the howling wind and swirling snow, making their way toward the direction indicated by the icy specter. That direction led them to the majestic snow-capped mountain that pierced the clouds.
As they ventured deeper into this snowy realm, the blizzard intensified, with snowflakes falling like feathers from the sky. The world around them seemed shrouded in a white veil, visibility plummeting to the point where even each other's figures became indistinct.
The two struggled through the deep snow, each step requiring immense effort as their feet sank into the drifts, as if an invisible force was holding them back, making every movement a laborious task.
"Is this... is this snow-capped mountain really so high? Can we... can we truly climb to the top?" Su Mu gasped for breath, worry etched on his face as he turned to the man in black.
He was already drenched in sweat, but the biting cold wind quickly froze the moisture against his skin, bringing a bone-chilling sensation.
The man in black paused, took a deep breath, and replied firmly, "No matter what, we must reach the summit! Perhaps that specter has led us here to find something of utmost importance."
With that, he adjusted his heavy pack and resumed his ascent toward the peak.
The fierce wind whipped against their faces like a merciless blade cutting into their skin. The cold surged over them in relentless waves, numbing their hands and feet until their bodies felt nearly devoid of sensation.
Yet despite such harsh conditions, they gritted their teeth and pressed on without hesitation.
The snow was astonishingly deep; one misstep could lead to being completely engulfed.
Several times, Su Mu found himself slipping, his body plunging downward as he teetered on the edge of sliding down the steep slope.
Fortunately, the man in black was quick to react, reaching out to grasp him firmly and preventing what could have been a disastrous fall.
Thus, they supported each other, slowly but steadily climbing higher. Throughout this long and arduous journey, the eerie song that had once echoed in their ears fell silent, and no strange sights appeared around them.
It felt as though only they existed in this vast expanse of wind and snow; everything else faded into a profound stillness. The howling wind added an air of solemnity to this mysterious mountain.
Time passed without notice as they endured countless hardships until they finally reached the towering summit of the enigmatic snow-capped mountain.
As they stood atop the mountain, gazing into the distance, their view was filled with rolling hills and peaks that seemed to be draped in a pristine white cloak. The silver landscape was breathtaking, its grandeur leaving them in awe.
However, despite the stunning scenery before them, they found nothing special or noteworthy in this place.
"Ugh, there's really nothing here," Su Mu muttered in disappointment, having arrived with high hopes.
The man in black remained silent, merely surveying the surroundings. Suddenly, he seemed to sense something and quickly walked over to a massive rock covered in thick ice and snow.
He extended his right hand and gently brushed away the snow that blanketed the rock's surface. As the snow slid off, peculiar engravings began to emerge from the stone.
"Come look!" the man in black exclaimed excitedly, pointing at the engravings.
Hearing the call, Su Mu hurried over to investigate. Once he got a closer look, he realized that these markings appeared ancient, resembling some form of archaic script. Strangely enough, he couldn't recognize a single character.
With a puzzled expression, he turned to the man in black and asked, "What kind of writing is this? It feels like I've never seen it before."
In response to Su Mu's question, the man in black furrowed his brow. He leaned closer to examine the rock carefully for a while before shaking his head helplessly. "To be honest, I don't recognize these characters either. Perhaps they truly belong to some mysterious script from a distant ancient time."
Just then, without warning, a biting cold wind suddenly swept through, swirling snowflakes into a frenzy.
This icy gust felt like sharp knives mercilessly slicing across their exposed skin, bringing waves of stinging pain.
In an instant, the temperature plummeted sharply as if they had plunged into a frigid abyss.
Caught off guard, both Su Mu and the man in black involuntarily shivered.
Su Mu hugged his arms tightly around himself in an attempt to fend off the sudden chill and asked with confusion, "What's going on? Why has it suddenly become so cold?" No sooner had he spoken than a white figure appeared before them like a ghost.
The figure appeared graceful and ethereal, as if she could dance with the wind. Her beauty was breathtaking, with delicate features perfectly balanced, each line seemingly carved with meticulous care.
Her long, silvery hair flowed freely in the breeze, cascading down like a waterfall.
The snow-white gown she wore was particularly striking; it was immaculate, as if crafted from the purest ice and snow, complementing the chilling aura that surrounded her.
"Snow Maiden!" exclaimed the man in black as he recognized her.
Upon hearing the call, the Snow Maiden slowly opened her tightly shut eyes. Her gaze was as clear and transparent as ice and snow, yet it emanated a bone-chilling light that sent shivers down one's spine.
She slightly parted her luscious lips, her voice cold as ice, devoid of any emotion as she questioned, "Who are you? Why have you trespassed into my snowy domain?"
Su Mu exchanged a glance with the man in black; both saw deep shock and a hint of unmasked fear in each other's eyes.
The Snow Maiden! She was the legendary spirit of ice and snow, a being that had only existed in tales passed down through generations. To see her alive before them today was beyond their wildest dreams!
In response to her inquiry, Su Mu forced himself to remain calm. He took a deep breath and cautiously replied, "We... we did not intend to intrude here; we got lost and accidentally wandered into this place. Please, show mercy and let us go."
The Snow Maiden's icy gaze swept over them, as if she could see through their very souls. "Accidentally? I suspect you have ulterior motives."
Su Mu felt his heart sink. He knew they could not hide their true intentions from the Snow Maiden.
