After school, as soon as I stepped out of the gate, Situ Yanan rushed over, drawing the attention of many classmates. "Hey, what are you doing?" I quickly pushed her away and said. A Fei pulled me along as we walked our bikes down the road. A Fei broke the silence first: "I didn't expect another good girl to get hurt by you. You're really quite the heartbreaker." "Not at all! I've been dumped by the person I like the most! Situ Yanan is a good girl; I don't want to hurt her anymore. So rather than letting her keep hoping like this, it's better to let her give up completely. I'm a kind person," I said jokingly.
The next day we continued our match against Yuce High School. As soon as I entered the school gate, I saw Situ Yanan walking towards me. Not knowing how to face her made me feel awkward; unexpectedly, she greeted me with a smile: "Brother Jie, good morning! We're going to continue our high school match against Xingtai today, right? Good luck!" She even made a cheering gesture. Just when I was still puzzled about how to respond, she whispered in my ear: "Brother Jie, I'll always be by your side waiting for you as your sister until next summer." With that, she quickly walked away. A Fei put his arm around my shoulder as we headed towards the gym: "Jie, don't think about anything else; we're about to compete soon—bring out that energy from yesterday." After hearing this, I nodded knowingly and smiled: "Got it! Just wait and see how Captain Xiang Jie of the Yulin School Team leads everyone." My playful nature kicked in again; for some reason, even though Situ Yanan hadn't given up on me yet and Shuai Dong still misunderstood me, I felt much lighter in my heart.
When we arrived at the gymnasium, Teacher Qiu was already jogging around it. "Hey! Coach! Why are you running too?" I called out jokingly. After years of working together and fighting side by side, our relationship with Teacher Qiu had transformed from teacher-student into family; Team is our home. Although there are changes in members every year within our big family atmosphere at Yulin, our spirit and vibe will never change! Teacher Qiu turned around with a smile: "You guys are here! Actually, I run every day; exercising regularly is good for health—life is all about movement." We laughed together while waiting for the other team members who hadn't arrived yet; indeed we had come half an hour early on purpose. Teacher Qiu sat us down in a circle on the floor so we could chat casually without any barriers or stiffness because he had no airs of being a teacher and was very approachable.
"Jie, your mood seems good today; it looks like your worries from yesterday have been resolved," Teacher Qiu asked with concern. Hearing this made me awkwardly scratch the back of my head and smile: "Hehe, yes! It's all sorted out; thank you for caring about my feelings!" A Fei pretended to scoff beside me: "Don't get too full of yourself; whether you're happy or sad—even if you're depressed—we wouldn't care less! Coach and I are just worried that your emotional issues might affect your performance." "Come on! You think Coach is like you—so heartless?" I retorted while Coach chuckled beside us. "Alright then! Today our opponent is Yuce High School; from what we've seen so far they should be our strongest competitor in this intercity tournament," Coach said after laughing for a bit before getting back on topic regarding today's match. A Fei nodded: "Yeah! Last time when we played away if it weren't for Jie taking down Yuce's Giant Center at the last moment we might have faced defeat."
