“Mom, stop sighing. It’s not worth it for Zhou Rongli’s family. If she had any conscience, she wouldn’t have left home for over twenty years just for a man. What has she done for our family during those years? The development of the Zhou family has nothing to do with her. Now that she’s successful and has the audacity to come back flaunting her power, it all seems hollow to me. And don’t say I’m ungrateful; if I were truly ungrateful, I would have reported her long ago,” Zhou Pingyong sneered.
“Reported? What would you report?” The old lady's gaze sharpened at his words.
“Of course I would report Zhou Rongli’s family. Jiang Chen is a murderer; they are harboring a criminal. I know some officials and even some people in the military. If I report them, Zhou Rongli’s family won’t have a good outcome,” Zhou Pingyong said with a cold smile.
“Do you dare? If you dare to report them, don’t call me ‘Mom’ anymore.” The old lady's tone suddenly became authoritative.
“As long as Zhou Rongli’s family agrees never to step into our Zhou family’s door again, I’ll pretend nothing happened and won’t report them. But if they insist on getting involved with us, then for the future of our family, I’ll have to be a person of conscience and report them without hesitation,” Zhou Pingyong said firmly, sounding as if he meant every word.
Jiang Chen found this “big brother-in-law” amusing; he truly didn’t understand how someone with such intelligence could manage the Zhou family.
“If you want to report them, do you really need to wait for your turn? How ridiculous; you can report them anytime,” Jiang Chen laughed.
“You think I wouldn’t dare? Don’t look at me like that; do you think I’m afraid of you?” Zhou Pingyong retorted.
“Of course you dare; someone as shameless as you wouldn’t hesitate for anything. Just know that my patience is limited. Let me tell you this: once I step out of this private room today, I won’t kill you, but I will make your lives miserable. I want to see just how tough your bones really are,” Jiang Chen said with a faint smile.
