Mr. Jiang's words were like an imperial edict, and Peng Shishan felt a sense of honor in being the messenger of such a decree.
"Well then, it's getting late. Let's all head down the mountain and go back," Jiang Chen said casually.
The journey was silent until they reached the foot of the mountain. Jiang Chen got into Jiang Shi's car, returning to Qingcheng County. He was reluctant to use his sword technique in front of them.
Jiang Shi drove Jiang Chen to the entrance of their community. After Jiang Chen got out and said goodbye to Jiang Jiewen, he headed home. Once he exited the car, only Jiang Shi and his daughter Jiang Jiewen remained inside.
The atmosphere was tense; neither knew what to say. Finally, Jiang Shi parked the car in their designated spot and couldn't hold back any longer.
"Do you know that Jiang Chen is Mr. Jiang that everyone talks about?" Jiang Shi asked.
"I just found out too, but I’ve known for a while that Jiang Chen is quite remarkable. Dad, I mentioned this to you before, but you didn't believe me," Jiang Jiewen replied softly.
"Ha, you did mention it, but who would believe such things without seeing them firsthand? To be honest, even after witnessing it just now, I still can’t wrap my head around it. It’s simply unbelievable," Jiang Shi said with a complex tone.
"It is indeed surprising, but it’s the truth," Jiang Jiewen affirmed.
"Looks like I underestimated him—seriously underestimated him. No wonder you think there’s no one better than him among young people; it seems that’s indeed the case," Jiang Shi sighed, realizing he had gained a deeper understanding of Jiang Chen today. He felt as if Jiang Chen was no longer just a person but something divine.
Jiang Jiewen remained silent.
"By the way, when did you start going with Jiang Chen?" Jiang Shi asked.
"Dad, you might not believe this, but Jiang Chen took me flying on his sword. We watched from the cliff until those two men in black retrieved the essence of the Yin spirit before we came down," Jiang Jiewen explained.
"Sword flight? If you had told me this before, I would have never believed it. But now, I do believe that this world is far more complicated than I thought. However, Jiang Jiewen, we are just ordinary people; I think we should avoid getting involved in these hidden matters. You and Jiang Chen are not on the same path; we can't aspire to that level," Jiang Shi said thoughtfully and seriously.
Though curious about the unknown, some things were truly beyond the reach of ordinary people. He felt a mix of respect and even fear towards Jiang Chen now.
"Dad, you don’t need to worry about that. I know what I'm doing. Jiang Chen told me earlier that one day I would also fly on a sword," Jiang Jiewen said with a smile full of anticipation.
Jiang Shi was taken aback, his eyes wide as he looked at his daughter in disbelief. His daughter flying on a sword? It was something he couldn’t even imagine. But now, all he could do was offer her advice and let her be; his daughter's perspective was indeed different—she could see Jiang Chen's extraordinary nature even in high school.
It turned out that he, as an old police officer, had less insight than his daughter.
Seeing her father suddenly fall silent, Jiang Jiewen hesitated for a moment before asking, "Dad, you shouldn’t oppose my relationship with Jiang Chen anymore, right? I've made up my mind about him for life."
"There’s no way around it; I can’t find anyone better than Jiang Chen among young people. Even if I wanted to oppose it now, it wouldn’t matter. I just hope you’re happy," Jiang Shi's gaze softened. With things having developed to this point, what else could he do?
