Hearing the sound, Li Fuxiu and Jiang Shi, along with the other ordinary people, felt their heads buzzing and quickly covered their ears to alleviate the discomfort. Peng Shishan and two other Martial Artists managed to endure the noise without being affected by the copper bell.
The ritual lasted for half an hour. Li Fuxiu and the others grew increasingly impatient but dared not interrupt. Finally, when the ceremony concluded, a sphere was brought out. Peng Shishan and the others assumed that the essence of the Yin Spirit was contained within the sphere and hurried over to inspect it.
"What are you doing?" The tall, slender man in black asked with displeasure as he noticed Li Fuxiu and the others approaching.
"We want to see what the essence of the Yin Spirit looks like," Li Fuxiu replied.
"Do you think obtaining this essence is that easy? Hmph, what you just witnessed was merely the first step. There is a second step, and that is where the real danger lies. If this essence were easily obtainable, I could share it with you. But this is something that requires risking your lives to acquire. I wouldn't mind giving half to Mr. Jiang, but you are not worthy of it," the tall man in black said coldly.
Li Fuxiu and his companions felt embarrassed but could not argue back.
"Brother, stop wasting time with them. I'm going down first," said the slightly plump man in black before diving directly into the deep pool.
Seeing this, Li Fuxiu and the others exchanged strange glances. After all this time, they still needed to jump into the deep pool to search for it; they might as well hire a professional diving team. However, it was freezing cold outside, and these two men in black were indeed impressive for being willing to plunge into such icy waters.
In the dark mountain forest, silence fell as Li Fuxiu and his companions stood by the edge of the deep pool, their eyes fixed intently on it. Suddenly, bubbles began to rise from the calm surface of the water until it seemed to be boiling.
"Not good," the tall man in black exclaimed, his expression changing as he quickly took out the copper bell and shook it vigorously.
"What’s wrong?"
"Could there be monsters in that water?"
Li Fuxiu and his companions were taken aback; this tall man had been calm until now, but his sudden fear indicated something bad was about to happen.
With a splash, just as Li Fuxiu finished speaking, something shot out from the deep pool. Upon closer inspection, it was the slightly plump man in black who had just entered.
"Brother! This is bad! We underestimated that monster; neither Dragon's Rest Incense nor the Soul Calming Bell can put it into a deep sleep! It has discovered me!" The slightly plump man emerged drenched and terrified.
"This is troublesome. If that monster doesn't fall asleep, we won't be able to obtain the essence of the Yin Spirit," said the tall man in black with a grave expression.
"Is there really a monster in this deep pool? What kind of monster is it?" Peng Shishan asked in astonishment.
"You are also a member of the Martial Arts Family, yet you lack even the most basic knowledge. Wherever there are rare treasures, there are always fierce creatures guarding them. In this deep pool, there is..." The tall, thin man in black had not finished speaking when he noticed the water churning, as if some colossal beast was about to emerge.
The two men in black reacted quickly, hastily retreating and jumping onto a large rock.
"Run!" Peng Shishan shouted as he came to his senses.
Li Fuxiu, Jiang Shi, and the others, being trained police officers, may not have the reflexes of a Martial Artist, but they were certainly quicker than ordinary people and quickly fell back.
