As the golden light dissipated, an elderly man with white hair and a youthful face stood before Su Mu, holding a whisk in his hand. He exuded an air of elegance and extraordinary demeanor.
With a gentle flick of his whisk, a powerful gust of wind pushed the mysterious figure and the surrounding black-clad individuals back several steps.
“Master Uncle!” Su Mu exclaimed in delight. He immediately recognized the visitor as his grandfather's fellow disciple—Daoist Xuanji.
Ye Qiu was also taken aback, surprised that someone would appear to save them in such a critical moment.
“Who are you?” the mysterious figure asked darkly, his eyes filled with apprehension.
Daoist Xuanji stroked his beard and replied calmly, “I am Xuanji, a disciple of the Heavenly Mechanism Sect.”
“Heavenly Mechanism Sect?” The mysterious figure seemed to have heard of this name before, his expression shifting slightly. “So you are a disciple of the Heavenly Mechanism Sect; no wonder you possess such cultivation.”
“Hmph! Xuanming Sect, how dare you…” Daoist Xuanji began, but his gaze fell upon Su Mu, scrutinizing him with a hint of surprise.
His voice brimmed with disbelief and admiration as he continued, “It seems that our fates are destined to intertwine at this moment.” With that, he gently stroked his beard again, a glint of brilliance flashing in his eyes.
Su Mu was taken aback, not understanding the meaning behind Daoist Xuanji's words.
Daoist Xuanji smiled slightly and said, “Mu Er, I see that you have an extraordinary bone structure and exceptional talent. Moreover, you possess your grandfather's 'Heavenly Mechanism Medical Compendium.' You are truly a gifted individual. From today onward, I shall take you as my disciple and formally teach you the ways of the Heavenly Mechanism Sect. Are you willing?”
Su Mu was both shocked and overjoyed. He hurriedly knelt down and bowed his head. “Disciple is willing! Thank you, Master!”
Ye Qiu felt happy for Su Mu.
"Hmph! Who does that old fool think he is, trying to ruin the good deeds of my Xuanming Sect!" The mysterious figure, seeing Daoist Xuanji take on a disciple right before him, was filled with anger and shouted again.
Daoist Xuanji's gaze turned cold. "Xuanming Sect, remember this day; my Heavenly Machine Sect will not forget! Leave at once, or do not blame me for being impolite!"
Feeling the powerful aura emanating from Daoist Xuanji, the mysterious figure realized he was no match and snorted in disdain. He quickly retreated with the men in black, disappearing into the night.
Daoist Xuanji turned around and looked at Su Mu. "Get up," he said, taking out a porcelain bottle from his robe and pouring out a pill to hand to Su Mu. "Take this."
Su Mu accepted the pill and swallowed it, immediately feeling a warm current flow through his body as the wounds on his arm healed rapidly.
"Thank you, Master," Su Mu said gratefully.
"Mu Er," Daoist Xuanji said earnestly as he looked at Su Mu, "the power of the Heavenly Machine Medical Manual is extraordinary. You must use it with caution and never misuse it, or you will invite disaster."
Su Mu nodded. "I will remember your teachings, Master."
"You have now begun to grasp the basics; it's time for you to formally learn deeper divination techniques and Taoist methods," Daoist Xuanji continued. "Starting tomorrow, you will return to the mountain with me to cultivate."
Su Mu glanced at Ye Qiu, who smiled and said, "Go ahead. I'll return to continue solving my case. We may meet again in the martial world."
Su Mu nodded. He understood that he bore an important mission and must strive to enhance his strength.
The next morning, Su Mu bid farewell to Ye Qiu and followed Daoist Xuanji out of the city, embarking on a new journey of cultivation deep in the mountains.
Ye Qiu felt quite puzzled about the Xuanming Sect, wondering how it was that they had not offended anyone along their journey.
