"You all must know, or perhaps even recognize, that a few years ago, at the Qinling Sword Immortal Ruins, he had you Hidden Sect unable to lift your heads. Have I made myself clear?" Peng Shishan said calmly.
"It’s him!" The two men in black exchanged glances, their expressions shifting to one of fear.
Jiang Chen, watching from the stone wall, couldn't help but chuckle quietly when he heard Peng Shishan mention him. When did he become the support of the Peng Family? Was it just because he knew Peng Tianqi?
Seeing the once arrogant men in black now fearful, a smile crept onto Peng Shishan's lips; it seemed his words had taken effect.
"You say that man is your Peng Family's support? What evidence do you have?" the tall, thin man in black asked in a deep voice, his tone heavy with seriousness but laced with doubt.
"I have no reason to deceive you. If you don’t believe me, you can ask our Peng Family. My ancestor, Peng Tianqi, once traveled to Kunlun Mountain with a great master and shared a deep bond. I came here because I heard you discovered the essence of the Yin Spirit and wanted to present it to the master," Peng Shishan explained.
The two men in black lost their arrogance entirely; their expressions turned grave as they whispered among themselves.
Three minutes later, their demeanor suddenly shifted to one of coldness, their eyes flashing with intense killing intent.
"If we kill you now and throw your bodies into the deep pool, no one would know," the slightly plump man grinned sinisterly.
"Do you dare?" Peng Shishan felt a chill in his heart; if that were true, it would indeed go unnoticed.
"What’s there to be afraid of?" The plump man sneered.
The atmosphere became tense.
"Let’s all speak calmly," Jiang Shi interjected quickly. The purpose of everyone here tonight was for the essence of the Yin Spirit. For Jiang Shi, he had no idea what it was or why it was causing such chaos; it wouldn’t be good if there were casualties. Moreover, with Director Li Fuxiu present, if anything happened to him, it would stir up a tremendous uproar. Li Fuxiu frowned slightly; he hadn’t expected these two to be so fearless against the Peng Family.
Though they feared the great master behind the Peng Family, they were now driven to madness and wanted to silence anyone who could expose them. While Li Fuxiu wanted to achieve something significant, he didn’t want to die.
Without absolute advantage, they couldn’t let desperation drive them to act recklessly. Thinking quickly, Li Fuxiu followed Jiang Shi's lead and said, "How about this? We can divide the essence of the Yin Spirit into three parts: one for you, one for us, and one for Old Peng."
"You police have no use for the essence of the Yin Spirit; your share is unnecessary. As for the Peng Family's share," the thin man pondered for a moment before continuing, "we're not sure if the Peng Family intends to give it to Mr. Jiang. It’s better to keep it with us until we personally deliver it to Mr. Jiang."
Mr. Jiang? That great master’s surname is Jiang?
"Old Peng, is that great master Mr. Jiang?" Li Fuxiu asked softly.
Peng Shishan nodded.
Jiang Shi repeated "Mr. Jiang" in his mind but didn’t think much of it and certainly wouldn’t connect it to Jiang Chen.
"You say this, which shows you still hold some respect for Mr. Jiang. However, if you take away the essence of the Yin Spirit tonight like this, I can’t guarantee that you will actually deliver it to Mr. Jiang. Besides, you don’t even know where Mr. Jiang is," Peng Shishan stated firmly.
