"Where did you get this talisman? We should all go and get one," Li Fuxiu joked, lightening the tense atmosphere. The group quickly left and drove back to the county town.
In the car, Jiang Shi reported what he had heard to Li Fuxiu. After a moment of contemplation, Li Fuxiu said, "No matter what that Yin Ling Zhi Jing is, we must stop them tomorrow night."
"I'll head back and start making arrangements to mobilize all the police forces in the county," Jiang Shi replied. Although there were only two of them, they were far more difficult to deal with than A-class wanted criminals. With twenty officers having been wiped out tonight, it would take even more manpower to successfully subdue those two.
"We won't need too many officers. I'll bring someone in tomorrow. Since we know they are Martial Artists, we'll use Martial Artists to counter them," Li Fuxiu said solemnly.
"Do we have Martial Artists among the police?" Jiang Shi asked curiously. His rank was limited, and he had little exposure to secret matters, so he wasn't very knowledgeable about martial arts.
"Of course we do, but the strength of those two tonight is clearly beyond what ordinary Martial Artists can handle. Therefore, we need to invite someone stronger. Jiang Shi, matters regarding martial arts are confidential; you must not leak any information," Li Fuxiu warned.
"Understood. Tomorrow I'll have all participating officers sign a confidentiality agreement," Jiang Shi said, his expression becoming serious as he suddenly felt like a frog at the bottom of a well in this vast world.
An hour later, Jiang Shi and the others returned to the county town while the two Martial Artists emerged from Longan Pool.
"Hey, where did they go?" The two men exchanged glances when they noticed Jiang Shi and his team were missing.
"Our Mi Xiang could knock out an ordinary person for at least six hours, yet these people seem fine after just an hour. Could it be because of the rain?" the Tall Slim Man in Black speculated.
"Forget it, brother. Let's go. There's no need to worry about these people," the Slightly Overweight Black-Clad Man replied. Although he found it strange, he didn't think much of it; after all, ordinary people—even if they were police—weren't worth their attention.
"Let's go."
The two men in black disappeared into the night as the light rain continued to fall, leaving the world feeling desolate and cold.
Back in the county town, Jiang Shi and his team did not hold any further meetings but returned home instead. Li Fuxiu and a few others from the province went to stay at a guesthouse.
At Jiang Shi's home, Jiang Jiewen and his mother anxiously awaited his return. With officials from the provincial department involved, it was clear how serious the case was, especially with such late-night operations causing concern for their family.
Knock, knock, knock.
Jiang Jiewen hurried to open the door and felt relieved when he saw his father had returned.
"Dad, you're soaked! Hurry up and change your clothes so you don't catch a cold," Jiang Jiewen said with concern.
"I'll take a shower first," Jiang Shi replied with a heavy expression.
After showering, in the living room, Jiang Jiewen had prepared hot tea. Sitting on the sofa, Jiang Shi took a sip and sincerely remarked, "It's nice to be home."
Noticing that his father seemed troubled, Jiang Jiewen exchanged glances with his mother. She couldn't help but ask, "What's wrong? Is there no progress on the case?"
"Tomorrow night will tell," Jiang Shi said. "But this case is perhaps the most shocking one I've encountered in my thirty years." His tone was filled with fear, astonishment, and a hint of excitement—his emotions were complex.
