Jiang Chen smiled silently, merely observing.
"Hey, who is that beautiful girl?" Suddenly, someone exclaimed while looking at the bus stop not far away.
"That's Jiang Jiewen from Class Six."
"Oh, it's her! She's even more beautiful now!"
The crowd of dozens at the school gate immediately became excited. Jiang Jiewen was indeed more stunning than before, drawing attention effortlessly.
Noticing so many people seemingly watching her, Jiang Jiewen felt a flush rise to her cheeks and quickly lowered her head. She had originally been reluctant to attend the gathering, but as the class monitor and a favored student in the eyes of her teachers, she felt she had no choice but to come.
"Jiang Jiewen, over here!" Several girls from her class waved and called out.
Hearing them, Jiang Jiewen quickened her pace and joined the group. Instantly, she was surrounded by her classmates. However, most of them merely observed from a distance; despite her approachable demeanor, her beauty created an innate barrier that made some students hesitant to approach her.
"Class monitor, it's been years! You look more beautiful than ever. I wonder if you have a boyfriend?" Suddenly, Chen Chaoyue stepped forward and asked with a smile.
Jiang Jiewen looked at the man in front of her with some confusion; she clearly did not recognize him.
"That's Chen Chaoyue. He used to chase you back in middle school and got a good scolding from your dad for it. Everyone knew about it," one girl reminded Jiang Jiewen with a laugh.
Feeling slightly embarrassed, Jiang Jiewen recalled Chen Chaoyue but clearly held no fondness for him. As a top student, she viewed someone like Chen Chaoyue—who had a reputation as a troublemaker—with disdain. Deep down, she felt no desire to associate with such people.
Yet, being classmates, she couldn't appear too cold. Jiang Jiewen forced a faint smile and replied, "I still don’t have a boyfriend."
Upon hearing this, her classmates were taken aback.
A look of delight spread across Chen Chaoyue's face as he struck a pose he believed to be charming and said in a somewhat melancholic tone, "Class monitor, I'm just like you—too busy with work to have dated anyone yet."
Naturally, everyone dismissed Chen Chaoyue's words; anyone who believed him would be foolish. Back in middle school, he had already been in relationships. Rumor had it that he had even gotten a girl pregnant during high school. Now driving a sports car, it was hard to believe he wasn't dating anyone; his appearance before Jiang Jiewen was clearly an attempt to win her over.
The news that Jiang Jiewen was still single quickly spread throughout their class.
"I never thought Jiang Jiewen would still be single!"
"Her standards must be really high; it's normal for her not to have a boyfriend."
"Heh heh, if Jiang Jiewen is single, does that mean we have a chance?"
"Dream on! She's from Jinling University; unless you're from Capital City University or Huaqing University and are handsome and wealthy enough to match her standards, you probably don't stand a chance."
Around Jiang Chen, many began to speculate as well.
As expected, exceptional individuals always attracted attention from childhood onward. Jiang Jiewen shone brightly in middle school and was expected to continue doing so in high school. In contrast, someone like Jiang Chen had excelled academically in middle school but faded into obscurity after entering high school. Arriving on an electric bike today clearly indicated an ordinary life. Many of his classmates might not even remember his name anymore, let alone students from other classes.
