After staying in Liu Fei City for two days, Jiang Chen did not visit Jiang Lu's home; instead, he returned to his hometown in Qingcheng.
For Lin Bingbing, these past few days had been transformative. She never imagined that one day she could become a master herself. Although she had played numerous roles in martial arts and fantasy dramas, the thought of becoming a true "martial arts expert" had never crossed her mind.
The reason Jiang Chen returned to Qingcheng County was for a class reunion. With only ten days left until the New Year, the county town began to buzz with activity as people who had gone out for work gradually returned home. The usually quiet small town was starting to come alive.
Naturally, class reunions were a staple before the New Year. Jiang Chen was attending his middle school reunion. Although he had seen a few classmates at Lin Xiaohui's wedding a few years ago, it had been rare.
This year marked the tenth anniversary of Jiang Chen's middle school graduation, and several classmates had already begun organizing the gathering early on. Of course, these classmates were doing well; otherwise, they wouldn't have felt comfortable organizing a reunion.
Jiang Chen initially did not plan to attend, but since he had gotten along well with some classmates during middle school and had lost touch after high school, he decided to go. Everyone had been busy with their own lives across different places, making it difficult to meet over the years.
The classmates he was closer to were also among the organizers of this tenth-anniversary gathering, which prompted him to make the decision to attend.
Since he was already in Qingcheng, Jiang Chen felt it necessary to visit his grandparents. Jiang Jingsheng and Hu Yina hadn't seen Jiang Chen in years and had no news from him; they treated him as if he didn't exist. When he suddenly appeared, the elderly couple was quite pleased and warmly inquired about his well-being. Jiang Chen responded politely; after all, they were his grandparents, and despite his grievances towards them, he felt obligated to show respect as a younger generation.
He brought each of them a pair of bracelets as New Year gifts. While these gifts were quite valuable, for Jiang Chen, they were merely a small gesture.
When Jiang Chen mentioned that he was only here for the class reunion and would not be spending the New Year with them, Jiang Jingsheng and Hu Yina were somewhat surprised but did not insist on keeping him longer.
Not long after Jiang Chen arrived at his grandparents' house, three of his buddies from school showed up. The most handsome among them was Qi Mu; the chubby one was Wu Qianyi; and the shorter, fair-skinned one was Wang Yong.
These three had been like brothers to Jiang Chen during middle school, all performing well academically. Qi Mu even nicknamed their group "The Four Great Swordsmen." They would often eat and play basketball together and always sat together in class.
Back then, they occasionally visited Jiang Chen's home, so his grandparents still remembered them somewhat.
"Wu Qianyi! You've gained weight again," Jiang Chen teased.
"Wang Yong! You're still as pale as ever," he remarked.
"Qi Mu! You're getting more handsome by the day," he added with a smile.
From their banter, it was clear how familiar Jiang Chen was with Qi Mu and the others.
"What are you all doing standing at the door? Come in and sit down! Have some tea and snacks," Hu Yina called out.
"Grandma, there's no need for formality. We just came to remind Jiang Chen that tomorrow is our middle school ten-year class reunion. He must attend! We won't stay long; we need to inform other classmates," Qi Mu quickly replied.
After saying that, Qi Mu and the others quickly turned to leave.
"Jiang Chen, tomorrow at noon, at the Golden Qilin Hotel, you must come!"
"Jiang Chen will definitely come. If he doesn't, I'll carry him there myself."
