"Sister Ning, it's so nice that you have someone you like," Mimi said, looking at He Shuning, who was slumped against the armrest of the sofa. She seemed tired and a bit drunk, her eyes closed, an empty wine glass still in her hand. Her hair was tousled, partially obscuring one side of her face. 0

Mimi gently brushed aside He Shuning's hair and was relieved to see that she wasn't frowning in her sleep. Suddenly, tears welled up in Mimi's eyes, and she felt a surge of emotion. She smiled through her tears as she gazed at her friend, whispering softly, "I'm really happy for you." 0

He Shuning had indeed had too much to drink that night. She couldn't recall how many drinks she'd had or how she made it back to bed; all she knew was the pounding headache that greeted her in the morning, a reminder that she hadn't controlled herself once again. 0

"Good morning, Sister Ning!" came a cheerful voice after a series of knocks on the door. Mimi peeked in, still wearing her apron, her expression brighter than the sun outside. 0

"I made century egg and lean pork congee today, and I even prepared some fried dough sticks! Come eat!" The young girl was in particularly high spirits today, her voice filled with joy. 0

"What’s the occasion? You seem so happy. Did I promise you a raise when I was drunk last night?" He Shuning teased, enjoying the mischievous glint in Mimi's eyes as she couldn't help but smile back. 0

She ran her fingers through her hair and glanced out the window; indeed, the weather was splendid. 0

"Sister Ning, are you going to the office today? Sister Sini said there's an annual review meeting that requires your presence," Mimi said while holding a ladle, serving congee for He Shuning. She watched as He Shuning sat at the dining table, munching on a fried dough stick while checking her phone, where a message from Sister Sini popped up. 0

He Shuning showed no particular reaction as she took a sip of the congee from Mimi's bowl. A look of fondness crossed her face as she raised an eyebrow and gave Mimi a thumbs-up. 0

"Mimi, your cooking skills are simply unmatched," she praised. 0

Mimi chose not to revisit their earlier conversation and handed He Shuning another fried dough stick from beside her. 0

"Really? Then, Sister Ning, drink more. I guess you should like this." 0

He Shuning took it, paired it with the porridge, ate another piece, then wiped her mouth and tidied her hair into a messy ponytail. 0

"You eat slowly. I'm going to tidy up a bit. I'll head to the company after you're done," she said as she stood up and walked toward the bedroom. 0

Mimi looked up. Sister Ning had already entered the bedroom. She thought Sister Ning might not want to go, and was just considering how to find a suitable excuse to tell Sister Sini that she wouldn't be going this time. After all, every time they went, it was mostly about nothing concerning Sister Ning. All the artists present at the company would be there, discussing this and that, exchanging pleasantries, and watching some fake performances. 0

Although everyone’s profession was acting, some people were too immersed in their roles, bringing their work personas into reality. 0

It was simply bizarre. 0

Sure enough, when she and Sister Ning arrived, the seat that should have been occupied by Sister Ning was already taken by another senior artist from the company—Chen Bingxi. 0

Completely different from He Shuning's type; if He Shuning was as cool as moonlight, then in Mimi's eyes, Chen Bingxi was alluring like a fairy. Countless people adored her devilishly attractive figure. 0

Today was no exception. As soon as they pushed the door open, they saw Chen Bingxi in a striking red trench coat and black high heels with red soles. Her legs crossed elegantly displayed her beautiful curves. Her chestnut waves cascaded down her back. Her lipstick was always a bold red, and her makeup was glamorous; she looked like someone who had just stepped off the red carpet without having time to remove her makeup. 0

Hearing the door open, she lifted her gaze and looked over. Upon seeing He Shuning, she raised an eyebrow with a slightly mocking tone. 0

"Oh, where did our Shuning come from? With that outfit, you didn’t just come from home, did you?" 0

"I really envy you. Unlike me, born with a life of toil; I just got back from the set and I'm so exhausted I can barely stand." 0

She stretched her waist with a slight smile on her face, though her brows were slightly furrowed. 0

He Shuning looked up at her, seemingly giving her a casual glance before saying lightly, “Make sure to get some rest and look in the mirror; those dark circles under your eyes are almost impossible to cover up.” 0

Upon hearing this, Mimi behind her couldn’t help but stifle a laugh. She secretly glanced into the eyes of the person across from her and found that there were no dark circles at all; she had put on such exquisite makeup. Sister Ning was clearly trying to provoke her. 0

Indeed, the expression of the person across changed, their eyes seeming to hide daggers as they glared at He Shuning. 0

Suddenly, as if recalling something, she shook her high heels and, with a voice that was soft yet sharp, said, “You really care about others, Shuning. Well then, I won’t be polite. Since my heels are too high and my feet hurt, I’ll just take your seat. I hope you don’t mind.” 0

She raised her chin defiantly as she looked at He Shuning. 0

He Shuning barely glanced at her, smiled faintly, and replied, “Feel free.” 0

Then she walked straight to the seat behind. 0

The newcomers and lesser-known artists watched this scene in silence, not uttering a word or getting involved in the clash between the two prominent figures. 0

As He Shuning entered, they all greeted her with slight nods. She acknowledged them with a nod and paid no further attention to the gazes around her. 0
