Liu Jin had left, and that night, Pei Guanjing finally stopped pretending. As the night deepened, he sat by Ye Chen's bedside, gazing at his serene sleeping face, and at Xiao Douya, who was sweetly nestled in his arms, a faint smile gracing his lips.
Pei Guanjing reached out and gently touched Ye Chen's fair, luminous cheek. The moment his cold fingertips made contact, Ye Chen stirred and opened his eyes, a shadow enveloping him. He looked up to see Pei Guanjing sitting beside the bed, gazing at him tenderly while caressing his smooth cheek.
Ye Chen swatted his hand away, glanced at the still-sleeping Xiao Douya, pulled the blanket up a bit more, and then turned to Pei Guanjing, whispering, "What are you doing awake at this hour?"
Pei Guanjing replied, "I can't sleep."
"If you can't sleep, do you plan to keep me awake too?"
Pei Guanjing chuckled and shook his head. "I wouldn't dare."
Ye Chen rolled his eyes and gently got up, carefully stepping around Xiao Douya before getting out of bed. He pulled Pei Guanjing into the yard and looked at him with displeasure. "What's wrong with you now?"
Pei Guanjing wrapped his arms around him and leaned close to whisper in his ear, "Nothing much. I just feel that life is too beautiful right now, and I'm afraid it's all a dream."
Hearing this, Ye Chen relaxed his furrowed brow and gently patted Pei Guanjing's arm that was holding him. "Such days are hard to come by; they are indeed beautiful. But you can't scare me in the middle of the night like this. Do you know how cold your fingers are? You made me..."
"Aw..."
Pei Guanjing held him tighter with one arm while lifting his chin with the other. They shared a deep kiss that interrupted whatever Ye Chen had wanted to say.
Later that night, Pei Guanjing took Ye Chen to his storage room. Unsurprisingly, as they kissed passionately, Ye Chen couldn't help but complain about the mess around them. "You... should just sleep with me; Xiao Douya is getting older now and needs to sleep alone."

Shaking his head, Ye Chen washed up and prepared to go to the front yard to open the door for patients when he realized that Pei Guanjing had already taken care of everything early on.
Just like back at the Military Camp, all he had to do was lift the curtain and there was Pei Guanjing before him, looking as cool and serene as the moon while taking someone’s pulse.
"How nice," Ye Chen murmured to himself. Perhaps this was the peaceful life he had always desired.

Pei Guanjing was very angry, but he couldn't express it in front of Ye Chen and everyone else.
Ever since that day when Ye Chen visited the Ming residence, the young master of the Ming family had come knocking on their door, sharing a bed with Ye Chen while he was left alone in an empty room, feeling like a resentful husband.
For someone like him, who had been indulging continuously, this was undoubtedly a death sentence.
In the middle of the night, hearing some noise, he couldn't sleep. He wanted to see what scheme Kun Ze, who had only met Ye Chen once, was plotting by entering their home.
What he didn't expect was that on the very first day, this person would reveal his true intentions so eagerly.

Inhaling the faint fragrance of Haitang, Pei Guanjing reached under the covers and pulled Ye Chen out. When Ye Chen woke up, still in a daze, he saw Pei Guanjing and, in a moment of confusion, planted a kiss on his cheek before settling back down to sleep. But soon, Ye Chen realized something was off; wasn't he supposed to be sleeping with Ming Xiting today?
His large deer-like eyes flew open as he looked around, not spotting Ming Xiting anywhere. He quickly tried to get out of bed to find him, but Pei Guanjing grabbed him by the waist and pulled him back. "What are you looking for him for? He said it was too cramped to sleep together. I've already let him sleep in Dad's room; it's all set up."
Hearing this, Ye Chen let out a sigh of relief but then glared at Pei Guanjing. "Then why are you here instead of sleeping with Xiao Douya?"
Pei Guanjing lowered his head. He wasn't sure whether to mention Lou Yu's visit. Though he felt angry about it, he gently bit down on Ye Chen's Heavenly Mandate and began to lick that spot repeatedly.
That night, Ye Chen was destined to feel anxious and uneasy.
He couldn't figure out what had provoked Pei Guanjing into marking him repeatedly like a madman. Even with others around, Pei Guanjing seemed unwilling to maintain any semblance of dignity.
Two months later, when he received a letter from Ming Xiting far away in the capital, Ye Chen finally understood.
It turned out that the old man was jealous once again.
At that moment, he realized he was already three months pregnant.
Thinking about this, Ye Chen, who had initially wanted to have a child, kicked the nearby Tian Qian in frustration.
