Xuan Yang and Qu Si Yang left the village, stepping onto an unknown path.
The night enveloped the land, and silence reigned around them, with only the sound of their footsteps echoing in the vast wilderness.
“Xuan Yang, where are we going next?” Qu Si Yang broke the silence, her voice tinged with uncertainty.
Xuan Yang took a deep breath, his gaze steady as he looked ahead. “We are going to seek the truth, to uncover the secret of the Heart of the Puppet Master, to discover my true identity.”
They walked side by side toward the distance, their figures gradually fading into the night.
However, danger was quietly approaching.
The wind in the wilderness felt like dull knives scraping against their faces. Occasionally, the chirping of insects from the surrounding grass heightened the eerie stillness of the night.
“Do you think we can really find the secret of the Heart of the Puppet Master?” Qu Si Yang tightened her clothing and asked softly. Her voice drifted in the wind, carrying a hint of doubt.
Xuan Yang stopped and turned to look at Qu Si Yang. The moonlight illuminated her face, revealing her clear eyes. “I don’t know,” he replied honestly. “But I know we have to try. This is my only chance, and it is the meaning of my existence.”
Qu Si Yang gazed at Xuan Yang, his eyes shimmering with determination—a desire for the unknown and a challenge to fate. “Okay, I’ll accompany you,” she nodded gently, her tone filled with trust and support.
They continued forward; though their steps were heavy, they were filled with strength.
Suddenly, a faint sound came from behind them, like something swiftly moving through the grass.
Xuan Yang’s ears perked up; his hearing was exceptionally sharp, able to catch even the slightest sounds. “Be careful, there’s movement,” he whispered, clenching his fists in preparation for whatever danger lay ahead.
Qu Si Yang also became alert; she scanned her surroundings, trying to locate the source of the noise in the darkness. “Who’s there?” she asked softly, a hint of tension in her voice.
Before she could finish speaking, a group of figures in black appeared like phantoms from all directions, surrounding them completely. These individuals moved with agility and speed; it was clear they were not ordinary people.
"Who goes there?" Xuan Yang sensed a disturbance behind him and quickly turned around, his eyes scanning the surroundings with caution.
"Hehe, kid, we’re here for your 'Heart of the Puppet Master!'" The leader of the black-clad figures let out a chilling laugh, his voice reminiscent of a night owl's call, sending shivers down one's spine.
The leader's face was obscured by a black cloth, revealing only a pair of cold eyes that gleamed with greed. "Hand over the 'Heart of the Puppet Master,' and I might spare your life." His voice was hoarse and deep, like a demon's whisper from the depths of hell.
Xuan Yang's heart sank; it was clear these people were after the "Heart of the Puppet Master."
He positioned Qu Si Yang behind him, his gaze icy as he stared down the black-clad men. "If you want the 'Heart of the Puppet Master,' you'll have to get through me first!"
"Arrogant!" The black-clad leader sneered, then waved his hand. The other black-clad figures surged forward, charging at Xuan Yang and Qu Si Yang.
"Arrogant!" The leader scoffed again. In an instant, he vanished like a ghost, reappearing right in front of Xuan Yang. In his hand was a dagger glinting with cold light, aimed directly at Xuan Yang's chest.
Xuan Yang had been prepared; he sidestepped just in time to narrowly avoid the dagger's strike. At the same moment, he summoned his powers, and Shadow Puppets materialized around him like loyal guardians, ready to protect them.
"Si Yang, stay safe!" Xuan Yang urged Qu Si Yang, his tone resolute.
Qu Si Yang nodded. She knew she couldn't assist Xuan Yang much but would do her utmost to protect herself and not become a burden. She quickly stepped back a few paces, conjuring a ball of flame in her hands as she warily watched the surrounding black-clad figures.
The battle was about to erupt.
Xuan Yang commanded his Shadow Puppets to engage in fierce combat with the black-clad men. His movements were agile and swift; under his control, the Shadow Puppets moved like living beings, displaying tremendous power.
The Shadow Puppets darted through the ranks of black-clad figures like phantoms, each strike resulting in splashes of blood. These Shadow Puppets seemed almost alive, capable of autonomous attacks that caught the black-clad men off guard.
However, there were simply too many black-clad figures, all skilled fighters. They coordinated seamlessly and launched relentless assaults, causing Xuan Yang to gradually feel overwhelmed.
"Kid, your 'Heart of the Puppet Master' is indeed impressive, but in the end, you're still too young!" The leader of the black-clad men sneered, a glimmer of greed flashing in his eyes. He could see Xuan Yang's fatigue and recognized the power of the 'Heart of the Puppet Master.'
"Is that so? It’s not decided who will fall yet!" Xuan Yang gritted his teeth, a surge of fierce battle intent rising within him. He knew he could not back down; if he did, both he and Qu Si Yang would be plunged into an abyss from which there was no return.
He summoned all his abilities, pushing the power of the 'Heart of the Puppet Master' to its limits, which in turn enhanced the might of Shadow Puppet.
Seeing this, the leader's expression shifted slightly; he hadn't expected Xuan Yang to possess such formidable strength.
No longer underestimating his opponent, he began to take the battle seriously.
The leader's strength was clearly superior to that of the other black-clad men. Each strike he made generated a gust of wind that tore through the surrounding air. His attacks were like a torrential storm, leaving no room for breath.
Although Xuan Yang had the assistance of Shadow Puppet, he still found himself struggling under the relentless assault from the leader. Several wounds had already appeared on his body, blood staining his clothes.
The battle intensified, both sides exerting their utmost effort without yielding an inch.
At that moment, Xuan Yang suddenly felt a sharp pain, as if his body were being torn apart.
The power of the 'Heart of the Puppet Master' began to backfire; he felt his consciousness gradually fading.
"Ah!" Xuan Yang let out a pained scream as his body started to tremble uncontrollably. The power of the 'Heart of the Puppet Master' surged within him like a runaway wild horse, rampaging through his meridians and tormenting his will.
"Xuan Yang!" Qu Si Yang saw Xuan Yang in agony and felt an overwhelming sense of urgency. She knew that Xuan Yang's 'Heart of the Puppet Master' was a double-edged sword; excessive use would lead to self-harm.
Just as Xuan Yang was on the brink of losing control, Qu Si Yang suddenly dashed in front of him. She extended her hands and infused a warm flame energy into Xuan Yang's body.
The flames from Qu Si Yang carried a strange magic; they could dispel all negative energy and heal all wounds.
The fiery energy flowed like a gentle stream within Xuan Yang, dispelling the coldness that lingered in his body while stabilizing his consciousness.
“Xuan Yang, hold on!” Qu Si Yang's voice resonated like a celestial melody in Xuan Yang's ears, helping him regain his sanity.
“Xuan Yang, stay strong! Think about why you are fighting, think about the people you want to protect!” Qu Si Yang's voice carried a soul-piercing power that pulled Xuan Yang back from the brink of collapse.
Xuan Yang's gaze gradually cleared. He remembered the mystery of his origins, the truth he sought, and the people he needed to protect. He could not fall; there was still much for him to do!
Taking a deep breath, Xuan Yang struggled to control the power of the Puppet Master's Heart. He could not give in; he had to protect Si Yang and uncover the truth!
He rallied his spirit and continued to battle against the cloaked figures.
With Qu Si Yang's assistance, the power of Xuan Yang's Puppet Master's Heart became more stable, and his combat strength increased accordingly.
With Qu Si Yang's flames aiding him, Xuan Yang gradually mastered the power of the Puppet Master's Heart. His attacks became sharper and more precise, while the movements of the Shadow Puppet grew more agile and unpredictable.
In the end, with his formidable strength and unyielding willpower, he defeated all the cloaked figures.
Seeing the situation turn against him, the leader of the cloaked figures turned to flee. Xuan Yang would not let him escape so easily. He controlled the Shadow Puppet and pursued relentlessly.
Finally, in an open area, Xuan Yang caught up with the leader of the cloaked figures. “You can't escape!” Xuan Yang said coldly, his voice filled with murderous intent.
Knowing there was no way out, the leader turned around fiercely, a glint of madness in his eyes. “Even if I die, I will take you down with me!” he shouted as all his energy erupted towards Xuan Yang.
Xuan Yang was prepared; he commanded the Shadow Puppet to meet him head-on.
With a loud bang, the body of the leader disintegrated into ashes under the attack of the Shadow Puppet.
“Si Yang, thank you,” Xuan Yang said, looking at Qu Si Yang with eyes full of gratitude.
“We don’t need to say thank you between us,” Qu Si Yang replied with a gentle smile, her expression like the warm sun on a winter day, warming Xuan Yang’s heart.
They stood side by side, leaning on each other, their hearts tightly connected, their fates intertwined.
At that moment, a shadow suddenly appeared before them.
“Who are you? How dare you cause trouble here!” The shadow's voice was cold and authoritative.
“Who are you?” Xuan Yang asked warily, a sense of foreboding rising within him.
“Shadow,” the figure replied slowly, his voice chilling like that of a demon from hell.
Shadow?!
Xuan Yang was taken aback; he never expected to encounter Shadow here.
Shadow was the leader of the Shadow faction, his strength unfathomable, and he was an extremely dangerous individual.
Could it be that he is in league with the man in black?
“Shadow, what do you want?” Xuan Yang asked in a low voice, his tone filled with caution.
Shadow did not respond. Instead, he slowly extended his right hand, and a sphere of black energy appeared in his palm, exuding a suffocating aura of darkness.
“Kid, I want your ‘Puppet Master’s Heart!’” Shadow's voice echoed like that of a judge from hell, each word striking Xuan Yang's heart like a heavy hammer.
"What the hell, how did this guy end up here?" Xuan Yang cursed inwardly, feeling an unprecedented pressure. He had heard of the Shadow's power; it was a legendary existence, strong enough to instill despair.
"Si Yang, you go first. I'll hold him off!" Xuan Yang said in a low voice, his tone carrying a hint of determination. He knew he wasn't a match for the Shadow, but he had to buy time for Qu Si Yang.
"No, if we're leaving, we're leaving together!" Qu Si Yang replied firmly. She wouldn't abandon Xuan Yang to escape alone.
"Listen, staying here will only distract me. Go now!" Xuan Yang's voice turned stern. He understood that this was not the time for sentiment; he had to make a decision.
"But..." Qu Si Yang tried to say something, but Xuan Yang interrupted her.
"No buts, just go!" Xuan Yang shouted, pushing Qu Si Yang away forcefully.
At that moment, the Shadow's attack arrived. A black energy sphere, radiating an aura of destruction, hurtled toward Xuan Yang.
"Xuan Yang, be careful!" Qu Si Yang cried out in alarm, wanting to rush over to help, but it was already too late.
Xuan Yang did not evade; he knew he couldn't escape. He channeled all his energy into the "Puppet Master's Heart," preparing to take the hit head-on.
"Boom!" The black energy sphere struck Xuan Yang with a thunderous roar.
His body flew back like a kite with its string cut, crashing heavily to the ground.
"Xuan Yang!" Qu Si Yang screamed in anguish, her eyes filled with tears.
"Cough cough..." Xuan Yang spat out a mouthful of blood, his face pale as paper and his breath weak.
"Kid, your 'Puppet Master's Heart' is indeed impressive, but unfortunately, you're still too weak," the Shadow's voice whispered in Xuan Yang's ear like the murmur of death.
Xuan Yang struggled to stand up, but he found that all his strength had been drained away. He could only watch helplessly as the shadow approached him step by step.
“It’s over, kid,” the shadow said, towering over Xuan Yang with a look of disdain in his eyes.
“No... I... can’t... die...” Xuan Yang managed to say, filled with unwillingness. There were still too many things he had yet to accomplish; he could not die like this.
“You have no choice,” the shadow replied coldly, raising his right hand to conjure a sphere of black energy in his palm.
“NO!” Qu Si Yang's voice suddenly echoed from afar. She rushed forward recklessly and positioned herself in front of Xuan Yang.
“Si Yang, you...” Xuan Yang’s eyes were filled with shock and gratitude.
“If we’re going to die, let’s die together!” Qu Si Yang declared resolutely, spreading her arms wide like a mother hen protecting her chicks, shielding Xuan Yang behind her.
“Overestimating yourself,” the shadow sneered, launching the black energy sphere mercilessly toward Qu Si Yang.
“No!” Despair filled Xuan Yang's eyes as he tried to intervene but found himself powerless.
In that critical moment, a brilliant flame suddenly descended from the sky, blocking Qu Si Yang.
“Boom!” The black energy sphere collided with the flame, producing a deafening sound before both dissipated into thin air.
“Who?!” A flicker of surprise crossed the shadow's face. He hadn’t expected anyone to be able to withstand his attack.
“Did you ask me before you touched my people?” A clear voice rang out from above.
Xuan Yang and Qu Si Yang looked up to see a woman in red descending from the sky, landing gracefully before them.
"Who are you?" Shadow asked, eyeing the woman in red with suspicion. He could sense that she was powerful, extremely powerful.
"You are not worthy to know my name," the woman in red replied coldly, her voice laced with disdain.
"Arrogant!" Shadow shouted in anger, launching another attack.
This time, he put forth all his strength. A layer of black mist surrounded his body, emanating from his dark energy.
"Child's play," the woman in red scoffed, a smirk on her lips as she extended her right hand and waved it lightly.
A red flame shot from her hand, transforming into a fire dragon that lunged toward Shadow.
"Roar!" The fire dragon let out a furious roar, opening its massive jaws to swallow Shadow whole.
"Ah!" Shadow screamed in agony as his body was quickly engulfed by the flames of the dragon.
"No... it can't be..." His voice was filled with disbelief. He could never have imagined that he would be defeated by a woman.
"There is nothing impossible," the woman in red's voice echoed again. "In this world, there are many who are stronger than you."
With that, she waved her hand once more. The fire dragon vanished, and so did Shadow, leaving only a pile of ashes as proof of his existence.
