Jiang Chen glanced at Qian Wenwu and couldn't help but chuckle. How could Qian Wenwu act like such a fool?
"Miss Xiong, I think we don't need to eat with these people," Jiang Chen said.
"Uh, well, it's livelier with more people around, and I'm afraid the atmosphere will be awkward later. To be honest, I'm not very familiar with the guest who’s coming," Xiong Sumei replied awkwardly. After all, Qian Wenwu and his group had known her for a long time and were considered friends, so she couldn't just kick them out.
"Heh, Mr. Jiang, do you know who tonight's guest is?" Qian Wenwu sneered. "It's the number one beauty of Southwest Province, Miss Liu Pingping from the Liu Family. We're having dinner with her to discuss business. I think you're the one who shouldn't be here. Miss Liu certainly won't welcome you. Rather than waiting for her to personally drive you away, you might as well go eat somewhere else."
"I think she would be even less welcoming to you," Jiang Chen replied with a smirk. It had been a long time since he had seen Liu Pingping, and he didn't expect to meet her in such a setting tonight.
"Just wait and see," Qian Wenwu huffed.
"Exactly! We're meeting Miss Liu to discuss business; what are you doing here?" Li Chengdu chimed in.
"Alright, alright, let's all keep it down. It's just a meal; there's no need to make it unpleasant. You all saw the situation today; be a bit more courteous to Mr. Jiang," Xiong Sumei warned with a frown.
After she spoke, her phone rang. Once she finished the call, she said, "Manager Liu has arrived at the door; I'll go greet her."
"I'll go too."
"Me too," Qian Wenwu and the others volunteered eagerly.
"Then Mr. Jiang, please wait for us in the private room," Xiong Sumei said before leading Qian Wenwu and the others outside to welcome Liu Pingping.
Liu Pingping arrived wearing a khaki trench coat paired with ankle boots and fitted trousers. Her short bob gave her an air of a powerful businesswoman. Of course, the most striking feature was her face; she truly lived up to the title of the number one beauty in Southwest Province. Xiong Sumei and Chen Shuifeng instantly felt overshadowed in her presence.
Qian Wenwu, Li Chengdu, and Sun Rong were momentarily stunned upon seeing Liu Pingping, nearly drooling.
"She's so beautiful, so beautiful," they exclaimed inwardly.
"It's so unfair; why can she be this gorgeous?" Chen Shuifeng's eyes were filled with jealousy.
Xiong Sumei introduced Qian Wenwu, Li Chengdu, and Sun Rong to Liu Pingping. They quickly transformed into sycophants, showering her with compliments and flattery. However, Liu Pingping clearly showed no interest in them and maintained only a polite smile.
If it weren't for the business meeting, she would have already given Qian Wenwu's group the cold shoulder upon seeing them.
"Manager Liu, I apologize; they admire you greatly and insisted on coming. Please don't mind them," Xiong Sumei said apologetically.
"It's fine, but having too many people isn't ideal," Liu Pingping replied with a smile.
"Uh, Manager Liu, there's another friend waiting in the private room," Xiong Sumei added.
"Next time Miss Xiong invites this many people, please let me know in advance. To be honest, I don't really enjoy dining privately with too many people, especially men." Although Liu Pingping said this with a smile, her expression clearly showed some displeasure.
Xiong Sumei felt awkward and didn't know what to say. After all, it seemed she had been overly eager today by inviting so many people to dine with Liu Pingping; no wonder Liu Pingping was somewhat unhappy about it.
