The massive figure of the Spider Queen loomed overhead, its eight sharp legs waving like a Death Scythe, exuding a nauseating stench. It emitted a piercing shriek that reverberated painfully in everyone's ears, as if it aimed to tear apart the tranquility of the space.
Xuan Yang quickly shielded Qu Si Yang behind him, his expression grave as ink. This Spider Queen was far more powerful than the previous Guardian Beast; its aura carried an ancient ferocity that was not easily overcome. He gripped his sword tightly, sweat forming in his palms.
“Everyone be careful! The venom of this Spider Queen is extremely potent. Just a drop could spell disaster! Don’t let it touch you!” a terrified Trialist shouted, his voice trembling and his face as pale as paper. Clearly, he was paralyzed by fear at the sight of this colossal creature, his legs shaking uncontrollably.
“Damn it, what the hell is that thing? It’s huge!” another Trialist cursed, equally shaken.
The Spider Queen paid no heed to their terror; it lunged at them with ferocity, its enormous legs crashing down with a howling wind. The ground shook violently, debris flying everywhere as the crowd scattered like frightened rabbits.
“Run for your lives!” someone screamed.
Xuan Yang focused his thoughts, and five Shadow Puppets appeared in an instant, darting through the air like black phantoms, tracing eerie arcs toward the Spider Queen. The Shadow Puppets nimbly dodged the Spider Queen’s attacks, leaping and rolling through the air like dancers while constantly harassing it, diverting its attention like a swarm of annoying mosquitoes.
Qu Si Yang also unleashed her defensive Ability, a golden light enveloping her and Xuan Yang like an inverted giant bowl, shielding them from the Spider Queen's onslaught. This golden glow shone like a beacon of hope in the darkness.
“This won’t do; we must find its weakness!” Xuan Yang commanded the Shadow Puppets while observing the Spider Queen’s movements, trying to pinpoint its vulnerability. His gaze was sharp as an eagle's, scanning every action of the Spider Queen without missing any detail.
At that moment, Qu Si Yang suddenly exclaimed, “I’ve got it! The Spider Queen’s weakness is in its abdomen! There’s a Red Mark there!”
Upon hearing this, Xuan Yang immediately focused on the Spider Queen’s abdomen. Indeed, there was a red mark on its belly that glimmered ominously like an eye, seemingly the source of its power.
“That’s its energy core!” Qu Si Yang explained. “If we attack there, we can deal a heavy blow! The darker the mark’s color, the more concentrated its energy is; it’s also its most vulnerable spot!”
Xuan Yang felt a surge of hope—there was indeed a way out! He quickly directed the Shadow Puppets to attack the Spider Queen's abdomen. The Shadow Puppets surged forward like black lightning, launching fierce assaults on that red mark. The weapons in the Puppet Master’s hands glinted coldly as they ruthlessly tore through the Spider Queen's defenses.
The Spider Queen let out a chilling scream as its massive body trembled violently as if struck by lightning. It wildly swung its legs in an attempt to shake off the Shadow Puppets’ assault, but it was futile; those Shadow Puppets clung to it like parasites, preventing any escape.
The red mark began to fade gradually, and the Spider Queen's movements grew sluggish as its strength rapidly diminished. Finally, it let out a defiant roar before collapsing heavily to the ground with a cloud of dust rising around it, akin to a small mountain crumbling.
“Did we… did we win?” one Trialist stared blankly at the fallen Spider Queen, unable to believe his eyes.
“We won!” The crowd erupted in cheers and joy illuminated their faces as they embraced one another, celebrating this hard-won victory.
"Thanks to Qu Si Yang, we were able to find the weakness of the Spider Queen," one Trialist said gratefully, admiration written all over his face.
"Absolutely! Qu Si Yang is incredible! She's like our goddess!" another Trialist chimed in, his eyes sparkling with adoration.
Qu Si Yang smiled modestly and replied, "Actually, it's all thanks to Xuan Yang. He directed the Shadow Puppet to attack the Spider Queen's weak spot. Without his Puppet Master skills, we wouldn't have been able to get close to her abdomen."
Xuan Yang chuckled and waved his hand dismissively. "We're a team; the victory belongs to all of us. Without your distractions, my Puppet Master wouldn't have been able to function."
As everyone celebrated their victory, Qu Si Yang suddenly pointed ahead and exclaimed, "Look over there! What is that? It seems like there's a building!"
Following Qu Si Yang's finger, the group gazed into the depths of the mist and caught a glimpse of an ancient structure. The building appeared hazy in the fog, like a slumbering giant quietly awaiting their arrival.
The architectural style was completely different from that of the village, exuding an air of mystery. Towering walls were adorned with various strange patterns; these designs were ancient and enigmatic, as if telling tales of old. Behind each pattern lay a hidden history waiting to be uncovered.
"That's a ruin!" one Trialist exclaimed in surprise. "Legend has it that deep within the Misty Forest lies an ancient ruin filled with countless treasures and secrets! I can't believe it's real!"
"Let's go check it out! We might find some treasures!" another Trialist said excitedly, his eyes gleaming with greed as he rubbed his hands together in anticipation.
Xuan Yang hesitated for a moment before saying, "The ruins are bound to be very dangerous; we should proceed with caution. How about we rest here for a bit to recover our strength before making any plans?"
"What are you afraid of? There are so many of us; what danger could we possibly face? Besides, fortune favors the bold—if you don't enter the tiger's den, how can you catch its cub?" one Trialist scoffed, clearly blinded by thoughts of treasure.
"Exactly! Xuan Yang, when did you become so timid?" another Trialist echoed.
In the end, they decided to venture into the ruins, driven by the allure of treasure while forgetting about the potential dangers.
The entrance to the ruins was tightly shut, covered in intricate runes that twisted like tadpoles and emitted a mysterious glow, as if possessing some magical power that beckoned exploration.
"How do we open this door? Do we need to use brute force?" one Trialist asked as he stepped forward and attempted to push open the door, but it wouldn’t budge.
Qu Si Yang examined the runes closely and suddenly exclaimed, "I got it! These runes are an ancient code. If we can decipher it, we can open the door! This is an ancient Mechanism Art that requires a specific sequence and technique to trigger."
Qu Si Yang began attempting to crack the code. She extended her finger and gently pressed and slid across the runes, but after several failed attempts, her brow furrowed tighter with each failure.
"Let me give it a try," Xuan Yang said as he stepped forward, carefully examining the runes on the door.
Xuan Yang began to study the runes, realizing that they were very similar to those he had seen in the dilapidated temple before; they seemed to belong to the same system.
He attempted to apply the knowledge he had acquired in the temple and quickly deciphered the code. Following a specific sequence, he pressed several runes in order and then pushed forcefully.
With a rumbling sound, the door to the ruins slowly opened, echoing like the snoring of a slumbering giant in the vast forest. An ancient and mysterious aura rushed out, as if time and space had been traversed, leading into an unknown world.
The group cautiously entered the ruins and discovered a vast hall. The walls of the hall were also covered in runes, which glimmered faintly like stars in the night sky, illuminating the entire space.
In the center of the hall stood a massive altar, upon which rested a sparkling gem. The gem emitted an alluring glow, resembling a brilliant star that captivated everyone's gaze.
"That's the Puppet Heart!" one Trialist exclaimed, his eyes filled with greed as he couldn't help but want to rush forward and claim the gem for himself.
Just then, a chilling laugh suddenly echoed from a corner of the hall. The laughter was eerie and sinister, sending shivers down their spines.
"Think you can obtain the Puppet Heart? It's not that easy!" A shadow emerged from the corner, its voice hoarse and deep, like a demon from hell.
The figure was clad in black clothing, with its face obscured, revealing only a pair of greedy eyes. Those Dual Eyes glinted with cold light in the darkness, resembling two sharp daggers.
"It's Shadow!" one Trialist shouted in terror, his voice trembling as his body involuntarily shook.
