I let out a low groan, a sharp pain shooting through my temples. 0

The outline of the console blurred once more. 0

The digital clock's numbers flickered wildly. 0

I tried to grasp that tearing sensation. 0

It was a... frequency. 0

If I could... synchronize... 0

My fingers tapped frantically on the console. 0

Snowflakes began to form a faint rhythm. 0

Like... some kind of wave interference. 0

"…zz…zzzz…" 0

Amidst the static, an incredibly faint voice drifted through. 0

It was her! 0

My heart raced wildly. 0

"Meng Xiao!" 0

I shouted into the microphone. 0

"Dad is here! Can you hear me? Answer me!" 0

"…Dad… Daddy…" 0

"…It's cold… so cold…" 0

"The plane… it's… going down…" 0

My heart sank to the depths. 0

"Don't be afraid! Meng Xiao! What's happening? The cockpit? Where's the captain?" 0

"…It's malfunctioning… everything is malfunctioning…" 0

"…The captain… he…" 0

Her voice turned sharp, filled with terror. 0

"…His eyes… they looked strange…" 0

Strange? 0

"…The alarm… keeps ringing…" 0

"…Dad… I see… someone…" 0

"…Before the crash… they tampered with the black box…" 0

"Who is it?! Meng Xiao! Can you see who it is?!" 0

"I... can't see... wearing... ground crew..." 0

"But... he mentioned... a name..." 0

A name?! 0

"Quick! Meng Xiao! What is the name?!" 0

"...Zzzzzzz—!!" 0

"Meng Xiao!!!" 0

I slammed my hands on the control panel. 0

"Say it! Just say the name!!!" 0

"...Chronos..." 0

A vague word floated into my ears. 0

Then, silence. 0

The screen returned to static. 0

Only my heavy breathing echoed in the empty control tower. 0

"Chronos..." 0

I repeated the name, lost in thought. 0

Who are they? 0

An organization? A code name? 0

The black box... 0

The airplane... 0

"And the ground crew..." 0

Countless questions gnawed at my sanity. 0

There were too few clues. 0

I didn't know who "Chronos" was, nor where they were located. 0

But I knew one thing: they wanted Meng Xiao dead. 0

I would never allow that! 0

I threw on my coat and rushed out of the control room, kicking open the security door leading to the data center, and sprinted toward it. 0

The piercing alarm rang out briefly. 0

The security officer on duty frowned, looking at me with evident displeasure, as if my actions had displeased him. 0

“Meng Gong, this is not the time…” 0

“Emergency situation!” I interrupted him, my voice shaky from running. 0

“I need to access the cockpit voice recorder (CVR) and flight data recorder (FDR) for flight KUN9371 immediately!” 0

The security officer was taken aback, clearly surprised by my sudden intrusion and this command. 0

“But, Meng Gong, that’s against protocol… We need permission from the accident investigation team to access that.” 0

“There’s no ‘but’ about it!” I stepped closer, my gaze sharp and unyielding. 0

“This is a top-priority directive, authorization code Alpha-Zero-Nine.” This was a level of authorization typically reserved for extreme emergencies by the tower chief. 0

The security officer's expression shifted slightly, and he dared not hesitate any longer. He quickly began operating the controls. 0

“Permission confirmed.” 0

“KUN9371 black box data is being retrieved…” 0
