The air in Luna's room crackled with an almost tangible tension. A pair of small hands moved surprisingly steadily, manipulating the shimmering Red Glow crystal ball. A deep, resonant hum echoed through the room, as if a massive heart was beating beneath the floorboards.
Luna furrowed her brow, fully focused; her usually bright and lively eyes were narrowed into slits, a stark contrast to her youthful age, reflecting her unwavering determination. Images began to emerge from the depths of the crystal ball, initially vague like a wisp of fog, then gradually becoming shockingly clear.
A man who looked exactly like her father, Lord Leonard, was smiling, his arm wrapped around a woman with hair that shone like moonlight—clearly not her mother. Qin Si entered the room, worry etched on her face as she led Lady Aria inside. Aurea hesitated at the doorway, her brow furrowed in confusion.
"Luna, dear, what's going on?" she asked gently, concern lacing her voice. Her gaze fell upon the glowing crystal ball, but she swallowed back her words. Her face turned pale as if all the blood had drained from it, her skin resembling moonlight itself. Her eyes widened in disbelief as she stared intently at the unfolding scene within the crystal ball.
Leonard's laughter echoed from the orb, a cruel mockery of what Aurea believed to be their shared life. She let out a choked gasp followed by a low wail that pierced Qin Si's heart. Tears streamed down Aurea's cheeks—hot and bitter—each drop bearing witness to the betrayal she was witnessing.
The crystal ball flickered with a faint inner light, reflecting in Aurea's carefully applied makeup as tears flowed down her face. She knelt on the luxurious carpet amidst the elegant furnishings of the room, appearing so broken and helpless. The world seemed to spin around her; her once familiar and comfortable life had suddenly transformed into a painful nightmare.
She trembled as she reached out, as if trying to touch the image of the man who had sworn to love and cherish her but was now revealed to be a liar and a scoundrel. Heavy footsteps echoed in the corridor, announcing Leonard's return.
He strode into the room with a cheerful smile, the afterglow of a successful business deal lingering around him like a mist of perfume. But when he saw the scene before him, his smile froze and then vanished completely. Aurea was curled up on the floor, streaks of tears marking her face. Qin Si hovered beside her, wearing an expression of both pity and anger.
And there was the crystal ball, casting an unnatural light that exposed his infidelity for all to see. His face turned pale; the flush of self-satisfaction was replaced by a sickly greenish hue. His eyes darted between Aurea and the crystal ball.
"Aurea, my love," he stammered, his voice cracking. He reached out to her, but she recoiled as if struck by him.
"How dare you touch me!" she spat out hoarsely, pain lacing her words. She stood up with an anger he had never seen before igniting in her eyes.
"You liar! You scoundrel! You... you..." She was so furious she could hardly speak, choked by his monumental betrayal.
"Aurea, I can explain..." he began to say, but she cut him off with a wave of her hand.
“Explain?” she repeated, her voice laced with disdain.
“Explain what? Explain how you can look me in the eyes day after day and lie to my face? Explain how you can betray our vows, betray our family for… for her?”
He flinched slightly, nervously shifting his gaze to the image in the crystal ball, where the woman with moonlit hair was looking back at him with a smug, victorious smile.
He opened his mouth to speak but swallowed the words before they could escape.
He stammered, fumbling over a heap of pitiful excuses and justifications that formed and dissipated on his tongue.
The atmosphere in the room crackled with tension, thick with unspoken accusations and painful reproaches.
“It’s not… it’s not what it looks like,” he finally choked out, a weak and pitiful defense.
Aurea laughed, a harsh, grating sound that sent chills down his spine.
“Oh really?” she said, her voice dripping with resentment.
“Then what does it look like, Leonard? A business meeting? A friendly chat? Or perhaps a charity event?”
Under her icy gaze, he shrank back, his carefully constructed world collapsing around him like a house of cards.
He opened his mouth again, desperate to provide a decent explanation, but the words wouldn’t come.
He simply stood there, like a trapped animal exposed under the spotlight of his own deceit.
His eyes widened in panic as he scanned the room for an escape route, searching for a way out of this nightmare.
But there was no way out.
“You… you don’t understand…” he began to say, his voice barely above a whisper before he faltered, locking eyes with Aurea.
His face, once filled with confidence and arrogance, was now twisted by fear and… regret?
“No,” Aurea said, her voice low and dangerous.
“I think I understand perfectly.” Her hand trembled with suppressed anger as she reached out—not toward him but toward the crystal ball…
The Glorious Demon Fortress basked in sunlight that still held a hint of false warmth.
Luna's large, sparkling eyes darted around as her small figure crawled about in the opulent Reception Room.
Don’t let her size fool you; she had big things on her mind!
Today was the crucial moment to unveil Leonard’s true nature!
Aelia sat on the sofa, her delicate makeup unable to mask the fatigue etched between her brows.
The atmosphere in the fortress had been stifling lately; Leonard was coming home later and later, and his excuses were growing increasingly flimsy.
She had suspected him before but didn’t want to entertain those thoughts after years of their relationship.
“Madam, would you like some tea?” Qin Si said gently, looking at her with concern.
Aelia forced a smile as she accepted the teacup but had little desire to drink it.
At that moment, Luna crawled up to Aelia's feet, clutching her skirt tightly and mumbling indistinctly, “Hug… want a hug…”
Aelia’s heart melted instantly as she gathered Luna into her arms and gently stroked her soft hair.
“Xiao Luna, what a good child you are.”
Luna nuzzled against her chest and pointed at an oil painting hanging on the wall—it was Leonard's portrait, his handsome face bearing a hint of barely perceptible frivolity.
“Daddy… bad…” Luna mumbled incoherently as she waved her small hand, sending forth a faint glimmer of magical light.
The once tranquil oil painting suddenly twisted, and Leonard's smile turned grotesque. Leonard's Last Night shifted into another scene: inside a luxurious villa, Leonard was embracing a seductive woman, their intimate gestures unbearable to witness.
Aelia's face instantly paled, and the teacup in her hand fell to the ground, shattering into pieces. She stared at Leonard's Last Night in the painting, unable to believe her eyes.
“No… it’s impossible… this isn’t real…” Aelia's voice trembled as tears streamed down her face.
Qin Si was also stunned by the sight before her; she quickly supported the swaying Aelia and exclaimed, “This must be sorcery! Someone is trying to frame Lord!”
Luna blinked her big eyes innocently at them, as if to say, “I’m just a baby; I don’t know anything.”
But Aelia seemed to understand something. She tightly grasped Luna's small hand and choked out, “Luna… are you trying to tell me… is this true?”
Luna nodded vigorously, her little face serious.
Aelia completely broke down, covering her face and letting the tears flow freely. Years of trust and devotion had resulted in such betrayal!
At that moment, footsteps echoed from the doorway—Leonard had returned.
He saw the chaos in the reception room and Aelia crying like a wilted flower, his brow furrowing as he asked, “What happened here?”
Aelia shot her head up. “Leonard, how can you even ask me that?! You know exactly what you’ve done!”
Leonard's expression changed as he noticed the twisted oil painting on the wall and Luna standing beside Aelia; he instantly understood the situation.
“Aelia, let me explain…”
“Explain?!” Aelia roared, “What more do you need to explain?! Explain your betrayal or explain about that woman you’re keeping outside?!”
Leonard’s face turned ashen.
“Aelia, even if I’ve wronged you, it was for the benefit of Magic Castle! Don’t forget that I am the master of this house!” Leonard’s tone grew firm as he tried to regain control of the situation.
“Benefit?!” Aelia scoffed, “Your benefit is betraying your wife and trampling on your own feelings?!”
The two stood at a standoff, tension reaching its peak.
Qin Si trembled in fear nearby, unsure of what to do.
Meanwhile, Luna remained obediently in Aelia’s embrace, as if everything was none of her concern. Yet in her bright eyes flickered a glint of cunning.
The show was just beginning!
