Luna curled up in Aelia's warm embrace, her small face still pale, but the tears had stopped flowing. The fear brought on by the nightmare gradually faded, replaced by a deep sense of responsibility. She was not an ordinary baby; she had crossed over with memories intact. She knew the storm that was about to hit this seemingly glamorous Magic Castle and her seemingly happy family.
She remembered the plot of the novel: her elder brother became disabled due to a Magic Backlash, living in sorrow until his untimely death; her Second Brother was deceived by a close friend and fell into a Magic Dilemma, ultimately becoming a prisoner; Brother San wasted his potential due to Talent Misguidance, becoming a disgrace to the family. And her Mother, the Lady of the Fortress in the Glorious Demon Fortress, ultimately succumbed to despair due to her husband's betrayal and the family's decline.
Luna clenched her tiny fists tightly, a strong urge to protect rising within her. She would absolutely not allow tragedy to repeat itself! She was determined to change everything!
"Mommy, I want some water," Luna said in a baby voice, her clear blue eyes shining with determination. Aelia smiled gently and instructed Qin Si to fetch some water.
As Luna drank, she secretly observed her surroundings, her little mind racing as she thought of ways to break the cycle. First was her elder brother's Magic Backlash. Luna recalled that the original book mentioned a rare Magic Herb that could lift such a curse, but it only grew in the Extreme Cold Land, making it extremely difficult to find.
"Mommy, I want to play in the snow mountains," Luna said, blinking her big eyes innocently.
Aelia paused; snow mountains were not suitable for children. "Luna dear, it's too cold in the snow mountains. How about we wait until you grow up?"
Luna pouted as if unhappy. "But I want to play now!"
Aelia was surprised to discover that Luna had an extraordinary control over ice and snow elements—something even adult Mages struggled with! "Could it be that Luna is a genius at ice magic?" Aelia thought to herself, beginning to waver on her decision about Luna's request.
In the end, after Luna's persistent pleas and showcasing of her Magical Talent, Aelia agreed to take her to the snow mountains. There, with memories from her past life guiding her, Luna successfully found the rare Magic Herb.
Upon returning to the Magic Castle, she secretly added the herb into her brother's potion. Miraculously, days later, her brother's Magic Backlash was lifted! In the subsequent Magic Arena, he performed brilliantly, winning three championships and bringing great honor to their family.
"Luna, thank you!" Her brother exclaimed as he hugged her tightly. Luna smiled sweetly, filled with a sense of accomplishment.
Next was Second Brother. Luna knew that his close friend was actually a cunning Little One who had set a trap using Second Brother's trust, leading him into a Magic Dilemma. Luna turned the tables and subtly guided Second Brother to uncover his friend's true nature, helping him resolve the crisis.
Second Brother escaped his predicament and was deeply grateful to Luna.
Finally came Brother San. He possessed immense Magical Talent but had become complacent and neglected his training. Through her actions and words, Luna helped Brother San recognize his shortcomings and reignite his fighting spirit.
Brother San suddenly awakened and began to diligently practice, while Magic Water made rapid progress, showcasing remarkable potential.
Seeing her three brothers finally on the right path, Luna felt a heavy weight lift from her heart.
However, her mother, Aelia, was still unaware that her husband, Leonard, had an illegitimate child outside…
As night deepened, the Magic Castle fell into a quiet stillness.
Qin Si gently knocked on Aelia's door while holding a cup of hot milk. "Madam, it's time for you to rest."
Aelia took the milk and sighed softly. "Qin Si, do you think... has the master been acting strangely lately?"
Qin Si moved quietly, as if afraid to disturb the tranquility of the night or awaken Aelia from her sweet dreams. Having served Aelia for many years, they were like sisters, and she naturally sensed something unusual about Lord Leonard recently.
His deliberate attentiveness and evasive gaze stirred unease within her.
"Madam, are you saying... the master...?" Qin Si lowered her voice, the tray in her hand trembling slightly, causing the hot milk to ripple as if foreshadowing the undercurrents beneath the calm surface.
A faint lavender scent filled the air—the fragrance Aelia loved most—but it could not dispel Qin Si's doubts.
Aelia's fingertip lightly traced the exquisite Liuli Cup; the cool touch of the cup brought her back to reality for a moment.
"I'm not sure... it's just that he has been coming home late and leaving early lately, and I happened to catch a whiff of an unfamiliar perfume on him—one that I don't use and none of the maids in Magic Castle would wear." Her voice was soft, almost as if she were talking to herself or seeking confirmation from Qin Si.
Qin Si bit her lip and finally made up her mind: "Madam, there are some things I don't know if I should say..."
"Speak freely, Qin Si; is there anything we can't discuss?" Aelia raised her head, gazing gently at Qin Si as she awaited her response.
Qin Si took a deep breath as if summoning all her courage: "Madam, a few days ago while I was outside Magic Castle on an errand, I saw the master... he was with a young woman, behaving intimately. And... I even heard them mention a child..."
Qin Si's words struck like a bolt from the blue, shattering Aelia's carefully woven dreams of happiness over the years.
The Liuli Cup in her hand suddenly slipped away with a crash, shattering on the floor and splattering milk everywhere—much like her current feelings: fragmented and in disarray.
"A child? Leonard... how could he..." Aelia's voice trembled uncontrollably; her face turned pale as paper, as if she had lost all color in an instant.
She felt dizzy and barely managed to steady herself by gripping the table.
She had loved Leonard for many years; their affection was admired by everyone in the magical realm as a fairy-tale couple.
She had always believed their love was unbreakable and that they were each other's most important person in life.
But now, Qin Si's words pierced through her heart like a sharp knife, tearing apart all her pride and confidence into shreds.
"It can't be... this isn't possible..." Aelia murmured to herself, unwilling to accept this reality.
She would rather believe she was trapped in a nightmare from which she would awaken to find everything restored to normal.
Seeing Aelia's pained expression made Qin Si's heart ache; she hurried forward to support her: "Madam, please don't be upset; perhaps... perhaps this is just a misunderstanding..."
"A misunderstanding? What kind of misunderstanding involves an illegitimate child? Qin Si, you don't need to comfort me; I know... I know it's true..." Aelia closed her eyes in anguish as tears streamed down her cheeks like Luna’s.
She felt an unprecedented despair wash over her as if the entire world had collapsed around her.
Just then, the door swung open abruptly, and Leonard walked in.
Upon seeing the shards on the floor and Aelia's pale face, his heart sank with an ominous premonition.
"Aelia, what happened? What's going on?" He rushed to Aelia's side to support her but was pushed away by Aelia with force.
"Don't touch me! Leonard, tell me—what Qin Si said is true? Is there another woman outside… and a child?" Aelia's voice was sharp and trembling, filled with anger and despair.
Leonard's face turned ashen; he never expected Qin Si would reveal this matter to Aelia.
He explained in a panic, "Aelia, listen to me, it's not what you think... it was just a misunderstanding..."
"Misunderstanding? Are you still trying to argue? Leonard, how long do you plan to keep lying to me? I can't believe I was blind enough to trust you for so many years!" Aelia's emotions completely shattered as she grabbed a vase from the table and hurled it at Leonard with all her might.
Leonard quickly dodged, and the vase smashed against the wall, shattering into pieces.
The room was in disarray, filled with tension.
"Aelia, please calm down! I can explain..." Leonard attempted to soothe Aelia's feelings, but she was beyond listening.
"Explain? What is there to explain? Are you going to tell me that the woman and the child are both fake? Leonard, you have truly disappointed me!"
"Aelia, I admit... I admit I made a mistake, but I still love you! That woman was just an accident; I promise I won't have any more contact with her!" Leonard knelt on the ground, grasping Aelia's skirt, pleading desperately.
He couldn't lose Aelia, nor could he afford to lose his position as the Lady of the Fortress in the Glorious Demon Fortress.
"Love me? If you truly loved me, you wouldn't have betrayed me! Leonard, you're so hypocritical! I never want to see you again!" Aelia flung Leonard's hand away and ran out of the room.
"Aelia! Aelia!" Leonard shouted after her, wanting to chase her down but was stopped by Qin Si.
"Sir, perhaps you should let Madam calm down for now. She won't listen to anything you say," Qin Si said coldly.
Leonard sat on the floor in despair, covering his face with his hands, filled with regret and fear.
He knew he had made an irreparable error; he had not only hurt Aelia but also destroyed his family and reputation.
Just then, a young figure walked in—Lucius, the Third Young Master of the Glorious Demon Fortress.
Seeing the chaos in the room and Leonard's pained expression filled him with concern.
"Father, what happened? Where is Mother?" Lucius asked anxiously.
Leonard lifted his head, his eyes filled with bloodshot despair: "Lucius, your mother... she knows everything..."
At these words, Lucius's face turned pale instantly.
He realized that a storm was about to erupt within the Glorious Demon Fortress, and he had to do everything he could to maintain stability in the Magic Castle.
As chaos engulfed the Magic Castle, Luna remained unusually calm.
Her small figure stood by the window, gazing at the overcast sky outside, her mind racing with thoughts.
"It seems I must act quickly..." Luna murmured to herself, her clear blue eyes shining with determination.
Her small hands clenched tightly as if holding onto the future of the Glorious Demon Fortress...
She gently turned and walked into the depths of darkness.
