Luna furrowed her little brows. Her pink cheeks puffed up like an angry little pufferfish. A faint, unsettling scent lingered in the air, reminiscent of a conspiracy, unpleasant like moldy cheese. Her little feet fidgeted restlessly on the carpet.
As someone who had crossed over into this world and was well-versed in the plot, she understood the source of this smell—Leonard, the seemingly virtuous Lord of the Magic Castle, was brewing a scheme that could overturn the entire Magic Castle!
“Yi Ya! Ah!” Luna babbled incoherently, waving her small hands frantically. She struggled to express herself, but as an adorable little infant, her language skills were still underdeveloped.
Aelia, troubled by Leonard's betrayal, initially dismissed Luna's anxious demeanor as mere childishness. However, the urgency and worry reflected in Luna's clear, large eyes suggested that there was indeed something important she needed to convey.
“Luna dear, what’s wrong?” Aelia gently picked Luna up and asked softly.
“Daddy… bad!” Luna mumbled, pointing toward Leonard's study with her tiny finger.
Aelia froze for a moment, looking at Luna with confusion before glancing toward Leonard's study. Doubts filled her mind. “Are you saying… Father is bad?” she asked tentatively.
Luna nodded vigorously, her little face turning bright red.
Aelia's brows knitted tightly together. She knew her husband had been acting strangely lately, but she could hardly believe that the man who had once cared for her so deeply would betray her and the entire Magic Castle.
“Luna, did you… hear something?” Aelia's voice trembled as she desperately sought the truth.
Luna babbled "Yi Ya," trying hard to relay everything she knew to Aelia. Though her ability to express herself was limited, Aelia managed to catch some key phrases—Leonard's Concubine, ritual, framing.
Aelia's complexion grew increasingly pale, and her body began to tremble slightly. She couldn't fathom that her beloved husband could commit such a despicable act.
“This… this can't be…” Aelia murmured to herself, unwilling to accept what Luna had said. Yet Luna’s earnest expression made it impossible to ignore.
She recalled a series of recent events within the castle: droughts, failed rituals, and Leonard’s growing indifference toward her... Could it be that everything was indeed part of Leonard's conspiracy as Luna suggested?
The more Aelia thought about it, the angrier she became; years of trust in her husband began to crumble. She felt deceived and toyed with, her inner fury erupting like a volcano.
“Qin Si!” Aelia shouted through gritted teeth.
“Madam, I’m here,” Qin Si immediately responded as he entered.
“Prepare the horses! I need to confront Leonard and get to the bottom of this!” Aelia's voice was filled with fury, her eyes blazing like burning flames.
Qin Si was taken aback by Aelia's expression; she had never seen her mistress so enraged.
“Madam, please calm down…” Qin Si attempted to dissuade her.
“Calm down? How can I be calm!” Aelia roared, “Do you expect me to stand by and watch as he destroys the Magic Castle?”
Qin Si dared not say another word.
Soon, Aelia rode fiercely to Leonard's study. She pushed the door open with force and stormed inside.
Leonard was in his study, looking over documents on his desk. Hearing the door slam open, he looked up and was startled to see an enraged Aelia.
“Aelia, what are you doing?” Leonard asked, feigning calmness.
“What am I doing? I should be asking you that!” Aelia shouted as she slammed the letter in her hand onto Leonard's face.
The papers fluttered down like snowflakes, landing at Leonard's feet. He picked one up and, upon reading its contents, his face turned pale instantly.
“Y-You’ve been listening to nonsense!” Leonard struggled to suppress his panic and attempted to argue.
“Nonsense? Are these letters all fake?” Aelia pointed at the papers on the floor, demanding answers with a fierce voice.
“I…” Leonard was at a loss for words.
“Tell me, is it all true? The drought, the failed rituals, and… her—was it all your doing?” Aelia's voice trembled as she clung to a glimmer of hope that Leonard would deny it.
Leonard fell silent, his gaze flickering as he dared not meet Aelia's eyes.
Seeing his reaction, Aelia felt her heart sink into despair.
“Why? Why would you do this?” Aelia's voice was filled with hopelessness.
“Aelia, let me explain…” Leonard tried to reason with her.
“Explain? What is there left to explain!” Aelia interrupted him, “You have betrayed me and the entire Magic Castle!”
“I…” Leonard wanted to say more but was cut off by Aelia's roar.
“Enough! I don't want to hear your excuses anymore!” Aelia declared, turning to leave.
“Aelia!” Leonard suddenly grabbed her hand.
Aelia halted but did not turn around; she coldly asked, “What else do you want?”
Leonard looked at Aelia’s back, opened his mouth as if to say something but ultimately remained silent.
“Aelia…” he called softly, uncertainty lacing his voice, “If I said… everything I did was for the sake of the Magic Castle, would you believe me?”
At his words, Aelia shuddered and spun around abruptly, her eye sockets reddening as tears streamed down her cheeks like broken pearls.
She stared intently at Leonard, as if trying to see right through him. Years of grievances, sacrifices, and trust surged within her like a tidal wave at that moment.
"For the sake of Magic Castle? Leonard, you truly have some nerve! Look into your heart and tell me, are you really doing all this for Magic Castle? Or is it for your own ambition and selfish desires?" Aelia's voice trembled, filled with endless sorrow and disappointment.
She extended a shaking hand, pointing at Leonard, and cried out hoarsely, "I married you for the prosperity of Magic Castle! I have exhausted myself managing the affairs within the fortress, handling various disputes, even at the cost of offending other powers! I bore your children and took care of our household so you could have no worries! How much heart's blood have I poured into this? Have you forgotten all of it?"
Aelia's tone grew increasingly agitated, and her tears flowed more fiercely.
Choking back sobs, she continued, "I trusted you. I thought you were genuinely working for the good of Magic Castle. I believed we were a united couple! But what about you? Is this how you repay my trust? Behind my back, you conspired with The Woman Outside to frame me, even sacrificing the interests of the entire Magic Castle!"
"Leonard, you have truly disappointed me!" Aelia cried, tears streaming down her face as the desolation and despair in her heart became unbearable.
She felt that her years of dedication and trust had shattered like a beautiful soap bubble in the sunlight, leaving only an endless void and pain.
Leonard was shaken by Aelia's accusations. He looked at her tear-streaked face and felt a twinge of guilt rise within him. However, that guilt was quickly replaced by anger and humiliation.
"Enough! Aelia, stop talking!" Leonard suddenly roared, his voice like that of a wounded beast. "I have my reasons for doing these things! What do you know? You are just a woman who deals with trivial matters! The future of Magic Castle is not something you can influence!"
Leonard's tone dripped with disdain and contempt, as if everything Aelia had done was insignificant in his eyes.
"Do you think I want to do this? I am being forced into it!" Leonard continued to shout. "Magic Castle is facing an unprecedented crisis; if I don't take some measures, it will inevitably decline! Everything I do is for the future of Magic Castle!"
"For the future of Magic Castle? Is that your excuse for betraying me? Is that why you're involved with The Woman Outside?" Aelia retorted fiercely. "Leonard, you're ridiculous! Your actions are not for Magic Castle; they are to satisfy your own ambitions!"
Their argument escalated like a raging storm in the study. Books on the shelves rattled from the intensity of their voices, and papers scattered across the table. The entire study was shrouded in a tense and oppressive atmosphere.
Standing nearby, Qin Si was already terrified by this sudden turn of events. She trembled in the corner, her face pale and her hands cold.
Watching this once-loving couple now hurl accusations at each other like enemies filled her with fear and concern. She had no idea what would happen next or how she should respond. All she hoped was that this quarrel would end soon and everything would return to normal.
However, things did not go as she wished. The sounds of their argument grew louder and soon echoed throughout Magic Castle.
Others within Magic Castle heard the intense argument and were shocked and worried. They set aside whatever they were doing and hurried toward Leonard's study.
"What happened? Why are the Lord and Lady fighting?"
"I don't know; it sounds serious."
"Go take a look, let's hope nothing bad has happened."
The crowd murmured among themselves, their faces showing signs of anxiety. They quickened their pace, eager to understand the situation. Soon, a large group gathered outside Leonard's study. They stood at the door, tiptoeing to catch a glimpse inside. However, the door was tightly shut, and they could see nothing.
"Should we go in and check?" someone suggested.
"Let's wait a bit; Lord and Lady are in a bad mood. If we barge in, we might anger them," another person countered.
The crowd hesitated, none daring to make a decision. They could only stand outside, anxiously waiting.
Inside the study, the argument between Leonard and Aelia continued. Their voices grew hoarse, emotions escalating.
"Aelia, I’ll ask you one last time—do you really not trust me?" Leonard's voice was filled with menace.
"Trust you? Leonard, do you think I can still trust you?" Aelia retorted with a cold laugh. "You have betrayed me, betrayed our marriage, betrayed all of Magic Castle! How can I believe you?"
"Fine, if you insist on this path, don’t blame me for being ruthless!" Leonard's gaze turned sinister.
"What do you intend to do?" Aelia asked warily.
"Since you know my secret now, I can't let you live!" Leonard sneered as he slowly raised his hand toward Aelia, saying, "For the future of Magic Castle, you'll have to be sacrificed..."
Luna's eyes widened with fear as her small body surged with immense energy. Her little mind raced like a finely tuned magical instrument, analyzing the situation before her. The air was thick with the smoke of their argument—Lady Aelia's desperate cries, Leonard's furious Frost Wolf's Roar, and Qin Si's terrified Qian Jiao—all intertwined into a chaotic symphony.
Her small face tightened as she became aware that the situation had spiraled completely out of control. If things continued down this path, the entire Glorious Demon Fortress would fall into the Eternal Abyss!
No! She had to do something!
She was a traveler with an important mission—to change the fate of the cannon fodder Destiny and save Magic Castle!
"Yi Ya! Ah!" Luna shouted hoarsely as she waved her small hands wildly in an attempt to attract attention.
Her tender voice seemed insignificant amidst the noise, like a pebble thrown into a raging sea that couldn't create any ripples. But Luna did not give up. She poured all her strength into calling out again and again, crying out like a lost little bird struggling against the storm.
She knew that she had to awaken Lady Aelia, to pull her from the depths of sorrow and anger, and together confront Leonard's schemes. Perhaps Luna's persistence moved the heavens, or perhaps her innocent cries contained some mysterious Magical Power; finally, a flicker of wavering appeared in Lady Aelia's heart-wrenching gaze.
Slowly, she turned her head to look at Luna. "Luna..." Lady Aelia called softly, her voice hoarse and weak, like a candle flickering in the wind, ready to extinguish at any moment.
Seeing that Lady Aelia had finally noticed her, a spark of hope ignited within Luna. She forced a smile and said in her tender voice, "Mama... don’t cry!"
Hearing Luna's innocent words made Lady Aelia's heart tremble. Looking into Luna's pure and innocent eyes, she felt a glimmer of hope. Suddenly, she became aware that she could not fall; she could not be crushed by Leonard's conspiracy. She had a child to protect and an entire Magic Castle to defend!
Taking a deep breath, Lady Aelia suppressed her sorrow and anger, slowly rising to her feet. She wiped away the tears at the corners of her eyes, her gaze becoming resolute and sharp.
"Leonard!" Lady Aelia glared at him, her voice cold and filled with lethal intent. "Do you think I will let you do as you please? I will not allow you to destroy the Magic Castle!"
Leonard was taken aback by the determination in Lady Aelia's eyes. He had never expected this gentle and virtuous woman to unleash such formidable power at a critical moment.
"Aelia, don't force my hand!" Leonard's tone grew harsh.
"Force you? You are the one forcing me!" Lady Aelia retorted defiantly. "Today, you will pay for your actions!"
With that, Lady Aelia raised her hand sharply, a dazzling burst of magical light erupted from her palm, illuminating the entire study. The air was charged with Magic Elements swirling violently, forming a powerful energy storm that enveloped Leonard.
Feeling the surge of Magical Power, Leonard's face turned pale. He realized that Lady Aelia was truly enraged. If he did not act quickly, he might really be done for.
"Aelia, do you really want to go down with me?" Leonard shouted nervously.
"Go down together? Leonard, you overestimate yourself!" Lady Aelia scoffed. "Today, it will only be you who falls!"
As soon as she finished speaking, the dazzling magical light erupted violently, forming a massive Black Magic Shockwave that slammed toward Leonard with tremendous force.
"Ah!" Leonard screamed as his body was hurled backward like a kite with its string cut, crashing heavily against the wall.
The entire study shook violently from the impact, as if it were about to collapse at any moment. Bookshelves trembled and books fell to the ground with loud crashes.
Standing to the side, Qin Si was already terrified by the sudden turn of events, her spirit shattered. She collapsed to the ground, trembling uncontrollably, unable to even call out to Qian Jiao. Luna, on the other hand, clung tightly to Lady Aelia's leg, her small face pale.
Outside the study, the crowd could hear the violent noises coming from within, their anxiety and unease growing. They speculated about what was happening inside, filled with fear and concern.
"We can't wait any longer!" someone suggested. "We have to go in and see what's going on!"
"But the Lord and Lady are angry. If we barge in, we might provoke them," another hesitated.
"We can't worry about that now!" the first speaker insisted. "If we don't go in soon, it might lead to something serious!"
With that, he disregarded the others' warnings and pushed open the door to the study. The crowd followed closely behind, eager to uncover the truth.
However, when they saw the scene inside the study, they were all stunned. The once tidy room had turned into a complete wreck. Bookshelves lay toppled, books scattered everywhere, and tables and chairs were broken in chaos.
Lady Aelia stood in the center of the room, her face pale and her eyes cold. The crowd exchanged glances, each person too afraid to speak up. They had no idea what had happened or what to do next.
The entire Magic Castle was engulfed in turmoil. People whispered about the argument between Leonard and Lady Aelia, speculating on how this upheaval would impact Magic Castle.
A heavy atmosphere of worry hung over Magic Castle, creating a sense of oppression and unease. No one knew what direction Magic Castle's future would take.
Luna observed the chaotic situation, her mind racing as she thought of ways to quell this storm and save Magic Castle. She understood that the burden on her shoulders was immense; she needed to find a solution quickly.
At that moment, a panicked servant stumbled over, breathless and trembling as he said, "Lady... it's bad! Third Young Master Lucius's wife... she's in labor complications!"
