"Did you really not see anything at all?"
Faced with the sudden question, Xiao Jing felt completely bewildered. "See what?"
"This..." The originally aggressive Xiao Li suddenly found herself at a loss for words.
Basically, even if she said something, given Xiao Jing's personality, she probably wouldn't believe it anyway.
But she had truly encountered something!
"... Are you really sure that Electric Pole has never caused any deaths?" Xiao Li pressed on, forcing herself to confirm again.
"If you're interested, you can investigate it yourself," Xiao Jing replied calmly.

After all, the shadow from earlier today did not appear next to the Electric Pole.
Could it be that the issue wasn't with the Electric Pole at all?

"Well, do you know if there have been any serious accidents at that Level Crossing?" she abruptly changed her question.
"I haven't researched that," Xiao Jing said, adjusting her glasses. "Is there a problem?"
"This..." After hesitating for a while, Xiao Li finally recounted her experiences from the past couple of days in detail.
Xiao Jing listened quietly and then spoke with indifference:
"I think you might just be influenced by the supernatural rumors that everyone has been talking about, causing you to feel paranoid. You'll be fine after a while."
"Is that so..." Xiao Li murmured, somewhat dazed. "I hope that's the case..."
For some reason, she was particularly concerned about that shadow, feeling an inexplicable sense of unease.
Xiao Jing stared at her for a while before slowly pulling out her phone to search.
As she browsed through the various online messages that popped up on her screen, she said softly, "It seems that there really was an accident at that Level Crossing." She turned her phone screen towards Xiao Li. "There was a train driver who claimed to have hit someone there, and the front of the train did have signs of impact. However, after stopping and searching along the tracks, no body or blood was found. The police were contacted for missing persons reports, but no one came forward, so the matter was left unresolved."
"Then... could it be..." Xiao Li suddenly turned pale.
"But this is old news from over ten years ago, and since no victim was found, it’s possible they just hit a cat or dog or something like that. Besides, if there really were issues, rumors would have spread long ago; it doesn't make sense for them to suddenly surface now," Xiao Jing replied. "I still think you're overthinking it."
"But..." Xiao Li lowered her head helplessly, fidgeting with her fingers.
Seeing this, Xiao Jing sighed in resignation.
"How about this: let's go back together today and see if that shadow you mentioned will appear again."
"Really?" Xiao Li's gloomy expression brightened instantly. "You promised not to run away!"

At the end of the school day, the two of them set off on their way home.
When they arrived at the Level Crossing, the barrier had just come down as they waited for the train to pass.
"Did you see anything?" Xiao Jing asked.
Xiao Li, standing close to Xiao Jing, carefully looked around, especially near the Electric Pole and across from the Level Crossing.
"...No," Xiao Li replied softly.
"See? I told you it was just your imagination," Xiao Jing said dismissively.
Xiao Li let out a deep breath, unsure whether to feel relieved or disappointed.
As the train passed and the barrier slowly lifted, Xiao Li suddenly widened her eyes.
"Xiao Jing... at the traffic light ahead!" Xiao Li exclaimed, pointing forward in alarm.
"Huh?" Xiao Jing looked in the direction indicated but saw nothing unusual. "What is it?"
"Did you see that?" Xiao Li asked, panic rising in her voice.
"No, I didn't see anything..." Xiao Jing replied, looking confused and unable to grasp the situation.
"The shadow just now was standing under the traffic light!" Xiao Li insisted firmly.
