In Luna's small body, it seemed as if a soul weathered by the storms of life resided. She gazed at Leonard's cold smile, and alarm bells rang in her heart.
No, this couldn't go on! She had to do something to change the family's destiny, even if it meant being swept into an unknown whirlpool. Her dark eyes darted around, searching for the right words.
With a trembling yet resolute voice, she said, "Madam, there are some things you should know."
Aelia was still immersed in the shock of Leonard's words, "You've all been fooled," when she heard Luna speak. A flicker of confusion crossed her beautiful blue eyes. She leaned down, cradling Luna in her arms, and gently asked, "Luna, what do you know? Tell Mother; don't be afraid."
Feeling the warmth of Aelia's embrace, Luna's heart steadied a little. She took a deep breath and spoke as clearly as she could, "I... I saw some things I shouldn't have seen. About... about the Lord of the Fortress..."
She paused, gathering her courage to recount what she knew about Leonard's affair with Leonard's Concubine and the details she had learned in a way only a child could express.
As Luna spoke, Aelia's face grew increasingly pale. Initially skeptical, she could no longer deceive herself when Luna revealed secrets known only to her and Leonard.
"No... it can't be... this isn't possible..." Aelia murmured, her beautiful face etched with pain and disbelief. She had shared decades of love with Leonard, believing their bond unbreakable. Yet now, a young girl was telling her that everything was false, built on lies.
Her world crumbled; years of affection and trust evaporated in that moment. A sharp pain pierced her chest as if an invisible blade had struck deep.
Just then, the study door swung open violently, and Leonard stormed in, his once-handsome face now clouded with fury and his eyes ablaze with anger.
"Aelia! You actually believe a little brat?!" Leonard's voice thundered through the study like a clap of thunder, causing pain to resonate in their ears.
Aelia shot her head up, disappointment and anger filling her gaze as she looked at Leonard.
"Leonard, what more do you have to say? What Luna said is true, isn't it?!"
"I..." Leonard was momentarily speechless; he hadn't expected Luna to tell Aelia anything or for Aelia to believe her so easily.
"Enough! Leonard, I truly misjudged you!" Aelia's emotions erupted completely as she held Luna tightly in her arms as if to shield her with her own body.
"For so many years, I've regarded you as my most beloved and trusted person. But what about you? You betrayed me! You betrayed our love!"
“Aelia, please let me explain…” Leonard attempted to clarify, but Aelia wouldn’t give him the chance.
“Explain? What is there to explain? Are you going to tell me that Luna is lying? Are you going to tell me that you haven’t been keeping a mistress?” Aelia’s tears fell like broken pearls, and she felt her heart shatter.
“I…” Leonard opened his mouth but couldn’t find the words. The truth spoke for itself.
“Father, that’s enough!” A deep voice emerged as Lucius stepped forward from the side.
He approached Aelia and gently supported her, looking at her with concern in his eyes.
“Mother, don’t be sad. I’m here for you.”
Turning his gaze toward Leonard, anger and disappointment filled his eyes.
“Father, I have always respected you and looked up to you as my role model. But you… you have disappointed me deeply! How could you do something like this?”
“Lucius, you…” Leonard hadn’t expected his son to side with Aelia; a chill ran through him.
“Father, I don’t want to argue with you. I just want to tell you that Mother is the most important person to me, and I won’t allow anyone to hurt her!” Lucius’s voice was quiet but filled with strength and determination.
The atmosphere in the study became tense as Leonard and Lucius faced off, ready for a fierce confrontation at any moment.
Aelia watched her husband and son, her heart heavy with pain.
She couldn’t understand how things had come to this.
Why was her family facing such a tremendous crisis?
“Luna, why did you tell me all of this?” Aelia suddenly turned to Luna, her voice trembling slightly.
Leonard and Lucius also looked at Luna, their gazes filled with anticipation and inquiry.
They both wanted to know what this little infant was thinking.
Feeling the weight of their stares, Luna’s small body trembled involuntarily.
She knew she was caught in a dilemma.
If she told the truth and admitted that she revealed Leonard’s betrayal to change the family’s destiny, she would likely be seen as a monster and might even be cast out of the house.
But if she lied and concealed her true intentions, she would feel guilty and uneasy.
She couldn’t bear to watch her family head toward destruction; she had to do something, even if it came at a great cost.
Clenching her teeth, she lifted her head and looked at Aelia with determination in her eyes.
“I… I just don’t want to see you sad.”
“Is that so? Is that all?” Aelia’s gaze was filled with doubt; she seemed unconvinced by Luna’s explanation.
“Of course! Luna is still so young; what does she understand?” Leonard quickly interjected, trying to defend himself while diverting Aelia’s attention.
“Father, enough! Stop talking!” Lucius exclaimed, unwilling to hear Leonard's justifications any longer; he only wanted to protect his mother.
“Lucius, you…” Leonard trembled with anger, shocked that his son would defend Aelia so fiercely, even to the point of opposing him.
“Please… don’t argue anymore…” Luna's voice grew softer, feeling as if her head might explode. She didn’t know what to do; she feared that her intervention would cause this family to collapse entirely.
“Luna, tell us, how did you come to know all this?” Aelia asked again, her voice gentle yet filled with an oppressive weight.
“I…” Luna opened her mouth but couldn’t find the words. It felt as if something was blocking her throat, preventing any sound from escaping.
“Speak! Just say it!” Leonard urged, desperate to understand how Luna had discovered his secret.
“I…” Tears streamed down Luna’s face as she felt herself on the brink of breaking down.
“Enough! Don’t pressure her!” Lucius shielded Luna behind him, glaring angrily at Leonard.
“Lucius, you…” Leonard shook with rage, feeling as though he was losing control over this family.
“Madam, Third Young Master Lucius, I… I just…” Luna’s voice quivered with sobs; her heart felt shattered.
“Luna, it’s okay. Don’t be afraid; tell us the truth,” Aelia gently patted Luna’s back in an attempt to comfort her.
“I… I…” Luna took a deep breath and steeled herself. “I had a dream…”
“A dream?” Both Leonard and Lucius paused in surprise; they hadn’t expected Luna to explain it this way.
“Yes, a very long dream…” Luna’s voice grew quieter, and her awareness began to fade.
“In the dream, I saw many things…”
Before she could finish her sentence, she suddenly felt dizzy; darkness enveloped her as she lost consciousness.
“Luna!” Aelia gasped and quickly embraced her tightly.
“Luna! Luna! Wake up! Please wake up!” Aelia’s voice was filled with fear and concern.
Leonard and Lucius rushed over, their faces etched with anxiety.
The study was in chaos; everyone was terrified by Luna’s sudden fainting.
But no one knew that Luna's fainting was just the beginning of a much larger conspiracy that was quietly approaching…
