When Qin Si awoke, it felt as though an invisible giant hand was gripping her throat, making it difficult to breathe, while a heavy weight pressed down on her chest.
Cold sweat soaked her nightgown, clinging to her skin and sending shivers down her spine.
The room was filled with a strange, moldy smell mixed with a faint stench of blood that made her want to gag.
From the next room came muffled groans, those of Mary, who served alongside her in attending to the mistress.
Fear surged within her like a tidal wave. Qin Si struggled to cry out for help but could produce no sound, only hoarse sobs escaped her lips.
Other servants began to wake up one by one, the same agony spreading among them.
Panic quickly spread among the servants, filling the room with oppressive groans and whispers of pain.
Some began to pray softly, while others cursed the sudden disaster that had befallen them.
They could not understand why they were enduring such torment for no apparent reason.
“Is it… is it the curse brought by that child?” one servant trembled as he spoke, his voice filled with fear and resentment.
“Shh! Keep your voice down!” another servant quickly hushed him. “If the mistress hears…”
Despite their fear, they all found themselves thinking of Luna, the mysterious infant brought back by the mistress.
Ever since she arrived at the Magic Castle, strange occurrences had followed one after another.
First, the esteemed Lord was expelled by the mistress, and now this inexplicable suffering had begun.
To them, Luna seemed like an ominous omen, bringing endless calamity.
At that moment, a message spread like lightning throughout the Servants' Quarters: someone was offering a high price to buy their positions as servants!
This sudden news made the previously desperate servants feel as if they had grasped a lifeline.
"Who is it? Who wants to buy us?"
"Could it be... someone has seen our plight and wants to save us?"
"No, no, it's not about saving us; someone wants our lives!" an older servant suddenly exclaimed, his face pale and his eyes filled with fear. "They know we are cursed by the Evil Spirit, that's why..."
Before he could finish, another servant interrupted, "But didn't the lady already invite a priest to exorcise the evil spirits for us?"
"The priest... the priest is of no use!" The older servant clutched his chest in pain. "I feel... I feel my life force draining away..."
At that moment, Qin Si suddenly recalled what Luna had once said: "You will soon understand that everything I do is for your own good." At the time, she thought it was just childish nonsense; now, could it be that Luna had foreseen all of this?
"It must be Luna... she must have saved us!" one servant shouted excitedly. "She knew we would face all of this, so she..."
The others suddenly realized.
It turned out that Luna was not the Disaster Star bringing misfortune but their guardian angel!
They had wronged her before and held resentment towards her; now, reflecting on it, they felt deeply ashamed.
A sense of gratitude spread among the servants as they expressed their determination to work hard and repay Luna's kindness.
Aelia sat beside Luna's Cradle, gently rocking it, her brow furrowed in concern.
The financial situation of Magic Castle was deteriorating, leaving her exhausted.
"Luna, do you know? Magic Castle is really short on funds right now."
Luna blinked her big eyes, seemingly understanding Aelia's words, and made a sound like "Yi Ya."
Aelia forced a smile. "Of course you don't know; you're still so little." She sighed. "About those things you mentioned earlier... can they really help Magic Castle?"
Luna simply laughed, her small hands clutching Aelia's finger as if to comfort her.
Aelia looked at Luna's innocent smile, filled with doubt.
Is this child really just an ordinary baby?
Why does she always feel that Luna is hiding some secret?
A knock sounded at the door.
"Come in," Aelia said.
Leonard and his current wife entered, their faces marked with concern.
"Aelia, we heard that Lucius went to the Misty Forest..." Leonard began.
"The Misty Forest?" Aelia's expression changed. "That place is full of dangers. What is he doing there?"
"We don't know either," Leonard's wife said anxiously. "He only left a letter saying he was going to search for something... something called the Fate Stone."
“Ridiculous!” Aelia exclaimed angrily. “That’s just a legend; it doesn’t exist at all!”
“I know,” came the reply.
At that moment, Lucius burst in, his face filled with fury.
“I don’t need anyone to advise me!” he shouted. “This is my choice, my own Destiny!”
“You…” Leonard was infuriated by Lucius's attitude. “You are utterly unreasonable!” He turned to Aelia and said, “Since you won’t take responsibility for him, then I…”
“What will you do?” Aelia interrupted him. “Do you think you still have the right to control him?”
Leonard’s face turned pale, and in the end, he said nothing more.
“Just stay with your Mother,” he said coldly to Lucius. “I want to see what you can accomplish!” With that, he turned and left, followed by his wife.
Lucius stood there in a daze, confusion etched on his face.
He never expected that Father would give up on him like this.
Luna watched all of this with a slight smile at the corner of her mouth.
“Yi Ya…” she whispered softly, as if to say: The real show has just begun…
