“Poison Core unbroken, dead yet not decayed…” Yun Che gasped as he retreated, catching a glimpse of dozens of ghostly lights flickering in the mist.
The Spider Demon swarm closed in, forcing him to the edge of a cliff. Below, a toxic miasma swirled like a vortex, and a cold female voice suddenly rang out, “Jump down, I will ensure you do not die.”
Without hesitation, Yun Che leaped off the edge, the miasma clawing at his skin like a living creature. A strip of white silk wrapped around his waist and pulled him into a cave at the bottom of the cliff.
A woman in green stood with her back to him, grinding medicine, her hair adorned with a silver hairpin and blood-red jade bells. “Swallow this.” She flicked her fingers, sending a crimson pill flying towards him, its medicinal aroma overpowering the stench from outside the cave.
As the pill entered his stomach, Xing Wen suddenly awakened, transforming the toxins into spiritual energy that nourished his meridians.
Yun Che’s pupils constricted. This pill was made from Moyuan’s unique “Heart-Eating Grass”!
The woman turned around, her veil revealing a pair of smiling autumn-like eyes. “I am Bai Ruoyou, a healer.”
With deft movements, Bai Ruoyou used silver needles to extract the poisonous blood from Yun Che’s shoulder. When the needle touched Xing Wen, she suddenly exclaimed softly, “This mark… it resembles the ‘Heavenly Gang Star Pattern’ from ancient texts.”
Yun Che abruptly seized her wrist, his killing intent palpable. “Who are you?”
“The one who saves lives,” she replied as a flash of Demon Mark appeared on her wrist. The silver needle then pierced into Yun Che’s palm at the Laogong acupoint. The power of Xing Wen surged uncontrollably, drawing in the miasma from outside the cave!
Taking half a step back, Bai Ruoyou spoke meaningfully, “Xing Wen devours poison; the demonic energy dissipates… Young Master Yun, you are far more interesting than rumored.”
Suddenly, sounds of talismans exploding echoed from outside the cave as Mo Qianshan’s direct disciple Ling Xiao approached with sword in hand. “Little Beast, come out and die!”
With a light laugh, Bai Ruoyou said, “I have an array that can trap them for a quarter of an hour, but I need to borrow your Xing Wen. ” She tossed out nine Bone Nails, their tips inscribed with Demon Mark.
Before Yun Che could respond, the Bone Nails had already pierced into his major acupoints!
Guided by the Demon Mark, Xing Wen traced out a blood-colored Formation Diagram on the ground.
As soon as Ling Xiao stepped into the cave, chains formed from miasma ensnared his limbs while the power of Xing Wen surged through the array back at him.
“No!” In an instant, Ling Xiao’s protective spiritual energy shattered; the miasma invaded his seven orifices and corroded him into nothing but bones.
Retrieving the Bone Nails, Bai Ruoyou touched her fingertip to a drop of Ling Xiao’s heart blood. “The pursuers have been dealt with, but Mo Qianshan will notice soon.”
She pressed the blood droplet onto Yun Che Xing Wen, and the Demon Mark spread like vines. “This blood is our pact; I can temporarily conceal your aura.”
The pain from Xing Wen felt like branding iron against flesh as visions flashed through Yun Che’s mind.
Bai Ruoyou knelt before the Demon Abyss Altar, as Xu Ying, the Nine Nether Demon Lord, inscribed the Demon Mark into her soul. "Approach the orphan of the Starfall Clan and obtain the Heavenly Gang Star Pattern..."
The illusion abruptly ceased. Bai Ruoyou's face turned pale as she retreated. "When we meet again, I hope Young Master Yun will not kill me." Her figure dissipated like poisonous mist, leaving behind a blood jade bell that fell to the ground.
Yun Che followed the bell's sound and emerged from the toxic forest, finding himself in a wide-open space. The arena for the Lingxiao Pavilion's sect competition hung high in the clouds, and the jade token for his participation in the contest was faintly warming in his hand.
On the high platform, Mo Xuan Shang toyed with Xiao Qingli's Fumo Qinxian. "The champion today can enter the Starfall Secret Realm to seek treasures... Of course, if that Traitor dares to show up, this young master would not mind exterminating demons on the spot!"
