The ground trembled violently, as if a giant beast was turning beneath the earth. Cracks spread like a spider web, tearing the once smooth surface into fragments. A bottomless Black Abyss suddenly appeared before Xuan Yang and Lu Zhiyuan, resembling an Abyssal Maw, greedily devouring the surrounding light and all vitality. The entrance exuded a chilling aura that sent shivers down their spines.
Xuan Yang stared at the dark void, his heart pounding wildly, an inexplicable fear surging within him, mixed with a hint of excitement. He licked his lips and swallowed hard. "Damn it, this can't be the entrance to the trial grounds, can it? This is too thrilling!"
Lu Zhiyuan's expression was grave, his brows furrowed, worry evident in his eyes. "This aura... it's ominous. It’s likely to be extremely dangerous inside; we should proceed with caution."
Xuan Yang took a deep breath, knowing he had no way back and could only charge forward. "What are we afraid of? Fortune favors the bold! We’ve come this far; we can't leave empty-handed! Besides, I’m the chosen one—what's there to fear?"
With a bold laugh, he leaped into the abyss like an eagle diving into the sky, his figure instantly swallowed by darkness.
Seeing this, Lu Zhiyuan shook his head helplessly and sighed. "This kid..." He followed suit and jumped in, disappearing into the boundless darkness.
Deep within the abyss, it was pitch black; he couldn’t see his hand in front of his face, as if trapped in endless darkness that was suffocating. Xuan Yang felt himself plummeting downward, the sound of rushing wind in his ears as if he were falling into an endless chasm. The air around him grew thinner, making each breath increasingly difficult; it felt as though a massive stone was pressing down on his chest, leaving him gasping for air.
"How deep is this hole? Am I going to fall straight to the Earth's core?" Xuan Yang cursed inwardly, struggling to regulate his breathing and keep calm. This cursed place was truly unnerving.
Suddenly, the sensation of weightlessness vanished; he felt his body lighten and landed steadily on solid ground.
Opening his eyes, he found himself in a vast cavern. The ceiling was adorned with countless glowing crystals that sparkled like stars in the night sky, casting a soft light that illuminated the entire cave as if it were daytime. The shimmering light reflected off the cavern walls, creating a dazzling array of colors that was breathtakingly beautiful.
In the center of the cave stood a towering stone monument that pierced the clouds like a sword thrust into the sky, exuding an imposing aura. The monument was covered in ancient inscriptions that resembled celestial scripts; Xuan Yang couldn't read a single character but could feel an ancient and mysterious energy emanating from it.
Beneath the monument lay a massive altar made of unknown black stone, radiating an aura of age-old mystery. On the altar rested a pearl glowing with seven colors, reminiscent of a Night Pearl, emanating an enchanting brilliance that made one yearn to possess it.
"This... is this really the trial grounds?" Xuan Yang thought to himself, filled with doubt; this place was even more enigmatic than he had imagined.
Lu Zhiyuan also jumped down from the abyss and landed steadily beside him. He looked around in astonishment and couldn’t help but exclaim, "This place... truly extraordinary! It's breathtaking!"
Suddenly, a chilling voice echoed through the cavern like a ghostly whisper that sent chills down their spines. "Welcome to The First Level of the Abyss, foolish mortals."
Xuan Yang and Lu Zhiyuan were startled; they looked around but could not find the source of the voice, heightening their vigilance.
"Who? Who's speaking? Show yourself!" Xuan Yang shouted loudly, his voice reverberating in the vast cave.
"Heh, no need to look further, I am the Abyss Guardian. If you want to pass the trial, you must defeat me; otherwise, you will remain here forever!" The cold voice echoed again, laced with mockery and derision.
As soon as the words fell, a massive shadow slowly emerged from the depths of the cave, resembling an Evil Spirit crawling out of hell, sending chills down one's spine. The shadow stood over three meters tall, its imposing figure reminiscent of a small mountain, exuding a strong Killing Intent as if it had emerged from a sea of corpses and blood. A pair of Crimson Dual Eyes glinted with ferocity, like two red lanterns, fixating on Xuan Yang and Lu Zhiyuan as if it intended to tear them apart.
"Damn it, another one seeking death! Today, I’ll show you why the flowers are so red!" Xuan Yang cursed inwardly, a surge of blood rushing to his head as he controlled his Shadow Puppet, preparing for battle.
"Kid, don’t be too arrogant. Do you really think you can defeat me? You’re utterly delusional!" The shadow let out a cold laugh, reminiscent of a demon from hell, sending shivers down their spines.
"Let’s see about that! Stop wasting time!" Xuan Yang replied fearlessly as he commanded his Shadow Puppet to launch a fierce assault against the shadow like a tidal wave.
The shadow swung its enormous fists like a Siege Hammer, accompanied by a howling wind that shattered the Shadow Puppets one by one. The overwhelming power was like a force of nature, leaving Xuan Yang feeling apprehensive.
Although Xuan Yang had numerous Shadow Puppets at his disposal, they failed to inflict any damage on the shadow, akin to an ant trying to stop a chariot. This left him in a state of urgency; he needed to devise a plan!
"Haha, is that all you've got? You’re truly disappointing! It seems you will all die here today!" The shadow laughed maniacally, mocking Xuan Yang’s incompetence and fueling his anger.
Xuan Yang furrowed his brow; he knew he had to find the shadow's weakness or they would never defeat it. "This guy... his defense is too strong. I must find its weakness; otherwise, we’ll all meet our end here!"
He observed the shadow's movements carefully, searching for any flaws with eyes sharp as an eagle's.
Suddenly, he noticed a radiant rune shimmering with seven colors on the shadow's back, resembling a giant eye that emitted mysterious light. The glimmering rune contrasted with the pearl’s glow on the altar, appearing particularly enigmatic.
"Could this be... its weakness?" A spark of hope ignited in Xuan Yang’s heart as if he had grasped a lifeline.
He maneuvered his Shadow Puppet to draw the shadow's attention while continuously harassing it until it was overwhelmed. Then, seizing the opportunity, he gathered all his Shadow Puppets and launched a thunderous strike toward the rune on its back like arrows released from a bow.
The shadow seemed to sense Xuan Yang's intent and abruptly turned to thwart the attack of the Shadow Puppets, but it was too late.
The Shadow Puppets struck the rune, which shattered instantly like glass, scattering into pieces and producing a crisp sound.
The shadow let out a chilling scream akin to a wailing ghost that sent shivers down their spines. Its body began to tremble violently as if electrocuted before slowly collapsing like a mountain crumbling down with a thunderous crash that shook the entire cave.
The shadow vanished into thin air, dissipating into wisps of black smoke.
Xuan Yang stood in place, breathing heavily as if he had just completed a marathon, utterly exhausted. This battle had proven to be more difficult than he had anticipated.
He looked up at the ceiling of the cave and noticed the glowing crystals gradually dimming, like stars falling from the night sky, causing the entire cave to grow darker.
"It seems... we have passed the First Trial," Lu Zhiyuan said, a hint of relief and gratitude in his voice.
Suddenly, the pearl on the altar emitted a dazzling light that illuminated the entire cave as if it were daytime.
The pearl slowly rose, hovering in midair before transforming into a stream of light that shot into Xuan Yang's body.
Xuan Yang felt a powerful force surge within him, like a volcano erupting, unstoppable. This power made him feel stronger than ever before.
His body began to change; his hair turned silver-white, radiant like moonlight; his eyes became golden, shining like the sun; his skin transformed into something akin to jade, translucent and glowing softly.
He felt filled with strength, as if he could control everything, his heart brimming with confidence and ambition.
"Congratulations, you have gained the power of the Abyss," a voice echoed in Xuan Yang's mind, like a divine whisper, solemn and sacred. "Now, you are qualified to challenge the next level."
Xuan Yang clenched his fists, knowing that his adventure had only just begun.
What kind of challenges awaited him in the second trial of the Abyss?
