The golden light dissipated, and Xuan Yang stood proudly, as if a deity had descended from the heavens, radiating an overwhelming pressure that made it hard for anyone to look directly at him.
The black claws vanished without a trace, leaving only the swirling black vortex in the sky, rolling like the eyes of a demon, watching everything below.
“Xuan Yang!” Qu Si Yang shouted excitedly, her eyes filled with surprise and admiration. The weight on her heart finally lifted. She had been genuinely worried that something might happen to Xuan Yang; if that were the case, she didn't know how she would cope.
Lu Zhiyuan also let out a sigh of relief, his eyes filled with appreciation and pride. “Xuan Yang, you truly are the chosen one!” He had always believed in Xuan Yang's abilities, but witnessing this astonishing scene firsthand still left him in shock. This kid had given him too many surprises.
Xuan Yang paid no attention to their praises; his gaze was firmly fixed on the black vortex in the sky. He knew that the real battle was just beginning. The dark energy swirling within the vortex filled him with a strong sense of unease.
“Shadow, I know you’re in there. Come out!” Xuan Yang’s voice thundered like a storm, resonating through the heavens with undeniable authority.
The black vortex churned violently, like boiling water, and slowly a figure emerged from within.
It was a man clad in a black cloak, his face pale and his eyes sharp, exuding a chilling aura as if he were a malevolent spirit from the depths of hell—he was Shadow.
The appearance of Shadow seemed to freeze the air around them, creating an oppressive atmosphere that was suffocating. Qu Si Yang and Lu Zhiyuan couldn’t help but shiver and instinctively took a few steps back.
“Xuan Yang, you have not disappointed me,” Shadow’s voice was deep and magnetic, hissing like a venomous snake, sending chills down their spines. He looked at Xuan Yang with an inscrutable gleam in his eyes, as if admiring a piece of art.
“Shadow, why are you doing this?” Xuan Yang demanded angrily, his fists clenched tightly enough that his knuckles turned white. He could not understand why Shadow would target this peaceful village.
“Why? Ha! For power! To control everything!” Shadow laughed maniacally, his eyes filled with greed and ambition. He licked his lips as if envisioning himself reigning supreme over all.
“You are mistaken; power is not meant to control everything but to protect!” Xuan Yang countered firmly, his tone resolute. His belief was as unyielding as rock.
“Protect? Ridiculous! In this world, only power is the true truth!” Shadow scoffed disdainfully, his eyes filled with contempt. To him, Xuan Yang’s ideals were nothing more than naive fantasies.
"Let me show you what true power really is!" Xuan Yang roared, his figure flashing like an arrow released from a bow, charging towards the shadow.
The shadow let out a cold laugh, its form vanishing from sight like a ghost, making it impossible to grasp.
The two engaged in an intense battle in the air, their speed so fast that the naked eye could barely follow. All that could be seen were two afterimages colliding continuously, producing thunderous sounds like a storm breaking.
Xuan Yang's attacks came like a torrential downpour, relentless and fierce, each punch carrying the force to shatter mountains and split rocks. Yet the shadow's defense was as solid as iron walls, unyielding and impenetrable. No matter how fiercely Xuan Yang struck, he could not budge it an inch.
They exchanged blows back and forth, locked in a stalemate where neither could gain the upper hand.
"Xuan Yang, your strength is indeed impressive, but you are ultimately no match for me!" the shadow sneered, confidence gleaming in its eyes. It believed that victory would surely belong to it in the end.
"Oh really? Then let's see you try!" Xuan Yang shouted angrily, golden light erupting from his body once more, engulfing him like a blazing flame, as if a deity had descended.
His power surged again, his speed increased even further, and his attacks became more ferocious, each punch carrying an overwhelming momentum.
The shadow's expression finally changed; it felt the immense pressure coming from Xuan Yang and couldn't help but feel a flicker of panic within.
"Damn it!" the shadow gritted its teeth, eyes filled with unwillingness. It never expected Xuan Yang's strength to be this formidable.
It had no choice but to go all out to withstand Xuan Yang's onslaught, appearing somewhat flustered in the process.
As their battle intensified, the surrounding space began to warp and distort, as if it might collapse at any moment, instilling fear in all who witnessed it.
Suddenly, Xuan Yang seized an opportunity and landed a powerful punch directly on the shadow's chest.
A dull thud echoed as the shadow let out a scream, its figure hurtling backward and crashing heavily to the ground, blood spraying from its mouth like a kite severed from its string.
"Cough, cough, cough..." The shadow struggled to rise, shock and fear filling its eyes. It could hardly believe it had been injured by Xuan Yang.
"You've lost, Shadow!" Xuan Yang stood there, looking down at the shadow with a cold demeanor, like a reaper delivering judgment.
"No, I won't lose!" The shadow roared, charging at Xuan Yang once more, madness gleaming in its eyes. It could not accept defeat, especially not at the hands of this young child.
Xuan Yang sneered, his figure flickering before vanishing again, elusive like a ghost, making it impossible to grasp.
The shadow lunged at nothing but air, terror swelling within. It suddenly realized that it was no match for Xuan Yang.
At that moment, Xuan Yang reappeared behind it and delivered a powerful punch to its back.
"Ah!" The shadow screamed in agony as its body flew backward once more, crashing heavily to the ground and losing consciousness, lying still like a dead dog.
Xuan Yang stood there, gazing at the fallen shadow with a flicker of complex emotion in his eyes. He knew this battle was far from over; there were stronger enemies lurking behind the shadow.
He had to become stronger to protect those he cared about and safeguard this village.
Suddenly, the black vortex in the sky began to churn again, and an even larger figure slowly emerged from within it.
It was a giant clad in black armor, towering ten zhang high, exuding a terrifying aura like a demon from hell.
Xuan Yang's heart tightened as an ominous premonition surged within him once more.
He looked up at the giant, his eyes filled with shock and fear.
Could it be... this is the true enemy behind the shadows?
The giant slowly lowered its head, gazing at Xuan Yang with a mix of mockery and cruelty in its eyes.
"Kid, you're quite impressive to have defeated the shadows," the giant's voice rumbled like thunder, deafening in its intensity.
"Who are you?" Xuan Yang asked, forcing himself to suppress the terror rising within him.
"I am..." The giant paused, a wicked smile creeping across its lips, "the Lord of Shadows!"
The Lord of Shadows?
Xuan Yang's heart raced with disbelief; he never imagined that such a terrifying entity lurked behind the shadows.
The Lord of Shadows slowly raised a hand, reaching out toward Xuan Yang.
Xuan Yang's heart tightened; he knew he could not withstand the Lord of Shadows' attack.
In that critical moment...
