With a deafening thunderclap splitting the night sky, the twelve Azure Flames suddenly soared into the air, transforming into twelve beams of light that shot straight into the clouds.
Shen Tong immediately felt a searing pain in her Right Eye, as if someone were using a burning iron claw to dig into her eyeball, far surpassing any pain she had ever experienced before. She swayed unsteadily, cold sweat pouring down her forehead, her face as pale as paper.
"Shen Tong!" Lin Mingchang shouted anxiously, struggling desperately, "What's wrong? Hold on!"
Shen Tong wanted to respond to Lin Mingchang but found herself unable to make a sound. As the Eclipse deepened, blood began to flow from her Right Eye, the bright red liquid trickling down her cheek and falling drop by drop onto the snow. Those droplets seemed to be drawn by some unseen force, forming thin lines of blood that flowed toward the Guixu Gate.
"It's coming! It's coming!" Shi Xu Elder shouted fervently, his black robe billowing in the wind. "The power of the Rakshasa Bird is awakening! Now, Guixu Gate! Open!"
Almost simultaneously, the ground at the center of the formation began to tremble violently, and the darkness within the Guixu Gate grew even deeper as an invisible aura surged forth. Shen Tong could no longer hold on; her knees buckled, and she collapsed onto the snow, on the verge of losing consciousness completely.
"Shen Tong!" Lin Mingchang and Fang Zigui shouted in unison, desperate yet powerless.
The sky was filled with swirling dark clouds, and several bolts of lightning tore through the night, illuminating the entire canyon. Just then, a shadow suddenly rushed in from the edge of the canyon.
"It's Mu Qing!" someone exclaimed in surprise.
Mu Qing was covered in blood, wielding a curved blade as he broke through the outer guards' defenses with incredible speed, heading straight for Shen Tong.
"Stop him!" Shi Xu Elder roared.
But it was too late.
Mu Qing leaped into action, his blade precisely severing the ropes that bound Shen Tong.
"Run!" he gasped as he turned to face the incoming attackers.
Shen Tong glanced at Mu Qing's determined back and staggered away to rescue Lin Mingchang and Fang Zigui. In the chaos, Mu Qing fought like a wounded beast, fiercely resisting attacks from all directions. Soon enough, more wounds appeared on his body, blood staining the snow beneath him.
"Mu Qing!" Lin Mingchang and Fang Zigui shouted as they broke free from their restraints and immediately joined the fight.
But there were simply too many members of the Gui Xu Society, and they were quickly forced back together.
Mu Qing gasped for breath, one hand pressed against the wound in his abdomen, blood oozing between his fingers. At that moment, the Eclipse had begun, the full moon being gradually devoured by shadows. They no longer had time to stop the Gui Xu Society.
Shi Xu Elder gazed at the celestial phenomenon, his fervent expression twisting even further. "The time has come!" he shouted, suddenly drawing a dagger and turning sharply to stab it into the heart of his trusted aide without warning.
"Elder!" The aide looked in disbelief at the dagger embedded in his chest, confusion filling his eyes. "Why..."
"For the new world, a sacrifice!" Shi Xu Elder coldly uttered those words. He then withdrew the dagger, blood gushing forth and splattering onto the runes of the formation.
"All followers, offer your lives to the Lord of the Abyss!"
With that shout from Shi Xu Elder, a shocking scene unfolded—every member of the Gui Xu Society suddenly clutched their abdomens in agony, their faces contorted as they coughed up black blood, collapsing into the snow and convulsing in pain until they died.
