"Her name is Xiao Qing, she is from Xi'an, and she has no parents. She grew up in an orphanage. She came to Shanghai to work and doesn't have many friends..." 0

Wei Jun reported to the Criminal Police Captain while casting a surprised glance at Xin Zi. "What did you say to her? Why do I feel like she dislikes you so much..." 0

"Nothing much," Xin Zi replied calmly, "It's not surprising; people have never said anything good about me behind my back." 0

"Weren't you supposed to take care of her? Why has it turned into Wei Jun's responsibility?" Yan Qin asked, puzzled. 0

"Opposites attract. It's better that she can't see; it makes Wei Jun more charming," Xin Zi seemed to be joking. "Look, she told him everything." 0

"However, she still refuses to mention what happened that night," Wei Jun said with frustration. "She really is pitiful." 0

Xin Zi glanced at her defeated boyfriend and then looked at Yan Qin. "Does the police have any leads?" 0

"None. That place is very remote, and there are hardly any people around at night, so there are no witnesses. According to the passerby who found Xiao Qing, he was walking past the alley when he heard strange gasping sounds coming from the dark depths. Then he saw someone stumbling out. He turned to look and was immediately shocked—there was a girl covered in blood coming out. He rushed over to help her, and she fainted in his arms." 0

"Did he not notice anyone running out of Deep Alley before that?" 0

"No. The police found the Murder Weapon—a pair of bloodied Lead Wires—in a trash can two streets away." 0

"That's so cruel," Wei Jun couldn't help but interject. "To actually stab someone's eyes out like that. How could anyone do such a thing?" 0

The Criminal Police Captain glanced at the silent girl. 0
“Are you wondering why the Suspect took the risk of being reported and only blinded Victim instead of killing her outright?” 0

“Yeah,” Xin Zi nodded. “Why would such a brutal person not just end her life?” 0

“Is it just a twisted desire to hurt? Xiao Qing is all alone here, with no chance to make enemies. Who would want to deliberately harm her?” 0

“Well, you’d have to ask her that.” 0

Just then, Yan Qin's phone suddenly rang. 0

“Hello… Yes, this is… Great! I’m in the Ophthalmology ward on the 5th floor of the hospital… Okay, I’ll wait for you.” 0

After hanging up, Yan Qin smiled and said, “A new colleague is coming. Let me introduce you.” 0

Xin Zi looked puzzled. “You have over a dozen subordinates, and I’ve never seen you introduce anyone.” 0

“This one is different; she’s a newly assigned Deputy Team Leader, and she’s at my level.” 0

“Oh, so you’re the Deputy Team Leader,” the girl teased, nodding with a grin. “Doesn’t that mean she’s a competitor? What, does your superior think your case closure rate isn’t high enough?” 0

“They probably just feel there aren’t enough hands on deck…” The Criminal Police Captain, slightly embarrassed by the teasing, responded. 0

The sound of steady, powerful footsteps echoed in the hallway as a young and determined face appeared. 0

Upon seeing the three people standing in the hallway, the newcomer’s gaze lingered for a moment before settling on Yan Qin's face. "You must be Team Leader Yan. Hello, I'm Roth. Where is the victim?" 0

After a straightforward introduction, there was no small talk; they immediately got to the point. 0

Xin Zi smiled brightly at Yan Qin. The latter could tell from the mischievous look on the little girl’s face what she was implying: "See, how decisive they are." 0

"Doctor Xiao Shen, could you take us to see the patient?" he said with a deliberately serious tone. 0

"Sure, Wei Jun will lead the way." 0

Wei Jun noticed Roth giving him and Xin Zi a strange glance but said nothing. He thought to himself that this was quite a reserved person. 0
