The two realms could no longer tolerate this forbidden love. After a fierce argument, the God of Light and the Lord of the Demon Realm decided to take the most extreme measures. They believed that only by completely eradicating the source of this emotion could they quell the turmoil between their worlds.
Under the command of the God of Light, the guards of the divine realm brought Dawn to the altar, the most sacred place in their realm and also where the harshest punishments were executed. Bound to the altar, Dawn's gaze held a hint of calmness and determination. He knew that his fate was beyond change, but his heart remained tethered to Nightshade.
"Dawn, this is your last chance," echoed the God of Light's voice across the altar, laced with severity and coldness. "If you are willing to sever ties with Nightshade, we can offer you a chance. Otherwise, you will face the ultimate punishment of the divine realm."
Dawn lifted his head, a flicker of tenderness in his eyes. "Divine Lord, I cannot forget him. I love him; it is my choice. I am willing to give everything for him, even my life."
The God of Light fell silent for a moment, a note of helplessness creeping into his voice. "If that is so, then you shall face the ultimate punishment of the divine realm. May your soul find peace."
With a command from the God of Light, the guards began to cast their spells. Golden rays descended from above, enveloping Dawn. His golden hair flowed in the light as determination and tenderness shone in his eyes. He closed them, silently praying for Nightshade's safety.
Just as the light was about to consume Dawn, Nightshade suddenly appeared at the altar. He broke through the barriers of the demon realm and rushed to Dawn's side without hesitation. Despair and pain filled his eyes. "Dawn, don’t leave me!"
Dawn opened his eyes and saw Nightshade’s figure; surprise flickered within them. "Nightshade, you came…"
Nightshade grasped Dawn’s hand tightly, his voice choked with emotion. "I cannot be without you; we cannot part like this."
Yet it was already too late. The ultimate punishment had been set in motion; the golden light grew ever stronger, tightly surrounding both Dawn and Nightshade. Nightshade's black robe burned in the radiance as despair filled his gaze. With his last ounce of strength, he held Dawn close.
"I will always remember you," Nightshade whispered gently, determination shining in his eyes. "No matter what happens, I will always love you."
Dawn smiled faintly, warmth radiating from his gaze. "I will also remember you forever, my shadow."
As the light erupted, Dawn’s body gradually dissolved into nothingness. His soul dispersed within the brilliance, transforming into a golden glow that merged with heaven and earth. Nightshade clung tightly to Dawn’s body; pain and despair overwhelmed him as he struggled to believe he had lost his beloved.
"Dawn…" Nightshade’s voice echoed on the altar of the divine realm, filled with endless sorrow.
In that moment when Dawn fell, Nightshade's heart was consumed by infinite pain and despair. He could not accept this reality; he could not believe he had lost his greatest love. Holding onto Dawn’s body tightly, he felt as if this would bring him back.
Under orders from the Lord of the Demon Realm, Nightshade was taken back to the demon realm. He was imprisoned deep within a dark and eerie dungeon filled with oppressive dark energy that instilled fear and dread. Dust covered Nightshade's black robe as emptiness and despair clouded his gaze; he could not fathom losing Dawn.
"Nightshade, you must accept your punishment," echoed the Lord of the Demon Realm’s voice in the dungeon with coldness and authority. "Your actions have violated our rules; you must pay for what you have done."
Nightshade raised his head defiantly. "My Lord, I am willing to accept my punishment but I cannot forget him. I will always remember him—my Dawn."
The Lord of the Demon Realm paused for a moment before responding with resignation in his tone. "If that is so, then you shall face the ultimate punishment of the demon realm. May your soul find peace."
With a command from him, dark rays erupted from below and surrounded Nightshade. His black robe burned in that light as pain and despair filled his eyes again. He closed them and silently prayed for Dawn's soul to find rest.
However, Nightshade did not perish. His soul wandered in darkness without finding solace; he remained tethered to thoughts of Dawn and could not forget their love. He resolved to protect their bond with his life, no matter what it cost.
Days turned into nights in that dungeon as Nightshade grew thinner; pain and despair etched deeper into his being yet he never gave up hope—he waited for Dawn’s return believing their love was eternal and their souls would reunite one day.
"Dawn, I will wait for you forever," Nightshade’s voice resonated through the dungeon filled with endless longing and hopefulness.
As time flows, the hatred between the Divine and Demonic realms still endures, yet the love between Dawn and Nightshade has become a legend. Their story is passed down between the two realms, becoming an eternal tale. Although their love ended in tragedy, their hearts remained tightly connected, and their souls watched over each other in the darkness, waiting for the day of reunion.
