The mist before dawn enveloped Ironforge City as Lia crouched before a vent in the sewer, wiping the condensation from the glass with her silver-dusted fingers. Kalan curled in the shadows behind her, his silver hair matted with blood at his temple, and a wound on his left arm oozed dark red liquid. His breathing grew heavy and erratic; whenever the urge to beast out surged, silver scales spread along his collarbone, tearing the tattered Linen Shirt to shreds.
"The potion is almost gone." Lia pressed the last β-3 syringe against Kalan's neck, Yin Xue flowing out and crystallizing against the glass vial's inner wall. She suddenly noticed a faint blue glow emanating from the skin around the injection site, resonating subtly with the Crescent Rune on her wrist.
Kalan let out a muffled groan as dark red ripples spread within his Yin Tong. Lia's Old Scar flared up again, blue light piercing through her skin to reveal two Crescent runes in her palm. When her fingers accidentally brushed against Kalan's wound, two streams of magic erupted at their point of contact, intertwining dark red and sky blue light that enveloped half of Kalan's body in an eerie glow.
"Don't... come near me." Kalan's voice turned hoarse and unfamiliar; his spine cracked with a series of pops as his silver hair moved without wind. "Dark Moon Power... it will consume you."
Before Lia could respond, a deafening roar echoed from afar. The Crystal Tower of Ironforge City suddenly lit up with a blood-red glow, and a massive Holographic Projection emerged from the mist—her face and Kalan's face floated side by side in midair, beneath them rolled the emblem of the Silver Claw Family and the Bloodfang Clan's insignia. Lia's pupils constricted as she saw her portrait labeled "Moonlight Heart bearer," while a crescent symbol torn by claws was drawn next to Kalan's name.
"Citywide manhunt!" A mechanical synthesized voice reverberated through the mist. "Capturing alive will earn you one thousand pure silver; rewards for dead capture are halved. Special note: The female target carries a rare Bloodline capable of temporarily controlling werewolves; the male target possesses unstable Dark Moon Power—silver weapons are recommended."
Kalan suddenly grasped Lia's wrist, silver scales climbing up his arm. "We have to separate." His voice was low, as if squeezed from deep within his throat. "Dark Moon Power is backfiring; I might..."
"No." Lia interrupted him, blue light surging from her palm as she forcefully pressed down on Kalan's mutating shoulder. "We are bound by blood oath, remember? Your injury will kill you, and my potion..."
Her voice caught abruptly. At Kalan's wound, dark red magic was corroding the protective film formed by the β-3 solution; Yin Xue dripped onto the cement floor, sprouting vines covered in Silver Fur from the cracks along its path. Lia suddenly realized that this magic matched exactly with the energy fluctuations she had seen three days ago in surveillance footage from the lab—that was the magical signature used by the Silver Claw Family to erase blood traces.
"Your mother..." A flicker of clarity crossed Kalan's Yin Tong. "Was she also a Moonlight Priestess? Why would Sebastian..."
Before he could finish, an iron cover in the sewer was suddenly thrown off. Three bounty hunters fell beside the vent, their wolf-headed masks glinting coldly in the morning light, silver badges hanging at their waists indicating they were part of Bloodfang Clan’s regular forces. The leading hunter drew a spiked Chainsaw Sword, molten silver flowing along its blade.
"A traitor of Silver Claw and a defector of Bloodfang." His voice amplified through a magic crystal. "Just enough for a merit."
Kalan suddenly sprang into action; his silver hair left a shimmering trail in the morning light. When the bounty hunter’s Chainsaw Sword struck his shoulder, Dark Moon Power erupted from the wound, freezing the opponent’s weapon into a silver crystal. Taking advantage of this moment, Lia plunged the last β-3 syringe into Kalan’s nape; blue light and red radiance intertwined at their point of contact, wrapping both of them in a protective cocoon.
As she stumbled out of the sewer, Ironforge City's streets had descended into chaos. The wanted poster in the Holographic Projection was sliced into fragments by countless silver beams, replaced by Sebastian’s image as Mechanical Wolf King. His steel claws gripped a photo of Lia’s brother; in it, the boy’s left eye had been injected with Blood Moon Crystal, its pupil rippling with dark red waves.
"Heir of Moonlight Heart." The mechanical synthesized voice resonated with metallic resonance. "Surrender your Bloodline and I can spare your brother from suffering under Blood Moon Crystal."
Lia's knees suddenly buckled. She recognized that scar on the boy’s forehead—it was a mark she had left when treating her brother’s wounds herself. As Kalan steadied her, his silver hair had completely faded but dark red glimmers flickered within his left eye’s Void.
"This is a diversion." Kalan’s voice was low and strained. "Blood Moon Crystal needs Moonlight Heart to activate; he wants to force you to reveal yourself."
Lia’s fingertips brushed against Kalan’s pure silver pocket watch at his waist—the inside cover engraved with a crescent symbol torn by claws, beneath which three bloodstains glowed dark red. She suddenly recalled seeing those three bloodstains beneath that deliberately erased family crest in surveillance footage three days ago.
"Sebastian is usurper." Lia’s voice trembled in the morning light. "These three bloodstains represent the widow and offspring of the former clan leader; your family crest..."
Kalan abruptly seized her wrist and pressed the pocket watch into her palm. Dark red ripples were spreading within his Yin Tong; skin on his back began to crack open, revealing growing Silver Fur underneath.
"Go to Yueyue Spring." His voice became hoarse yet authoritative. "The holy ground of Bloodfang Clan lies deep within Black Forest; there are methods to Purify Dark Moon Power."
The Holographic Projection suddenly switched scenes—Lia’s brother was pinned on an altar by Mechanical Werewolf while Blood Moon Crystal glowed at his temple. Sebastian’s mechanical limb suddenly pierced into the boy’s shoulder blade; dark red magic gushed forth from the wound, coalescing into two Crescent whirlpools in midair.
"You have half a blood moon cycle." The mechanical synthesized voice echoed through the morning light. "Otherwise, all of Ironforge City will witness Eternal Night's arrival."
Kalan suddenly let out a beastly roar, his silver hair rising without wind, as Dark Moon Power gushed from his wounds, forming two swirling crescents in the air above the street. The bounty hunters seized the opportunity to attack; when the Chainsaw Sword struck Kalan at his waist, his Yin Xue splattered onto Lia's face. The droplets turned into dark red runes upon contact with her skin, rapidly spreading along her veins.
As Lia collapsed to the ground, she saw Kalan's silver hair had completely transformed into a dark red hue. The sound of his spine cracking echoed around him, while the skin on his back was being torn by Silver Fur. When the Mechanical Werewolf's chainsaw struck his shoulder, he suddenly opened his mouth and bit down on the opponent's steel prosthetic limb. Dark Moon Power erupted from the wound, dyeing the entire street in a silver tide.
Lia's Crescent Rune on her wrist suddenly blazed with light as she staggered toward Kalan. Blue and red lights intertwined at their point of contact, wrapping both of them in a protective embrace. When the radiance faded, she saw the Crystal Tower of Ironforge City collapsing. Among countless silver fragments, three blood streaks fell from the tower's peak, resembling three meteors streaking across the blood moon rising in the sky.
