A Fei took out a heart-shaped crystal pendant engraved with the word "Fly" from his pocket and stared at it blankly. It turned out that this was the pendant that Sha Xiaomei had given to A Fei. "Jie, I can't accept this," A Fei finally spoke. I walked over and sat down beside him. "The league is about to start, you have to let this go. Don't you remember? You are an eagle that wants to soar into the sky. We still need to fight together, right?" I looked into his eyes and spoke earnestly while extending my hand. "Yes! From now on, I, Yu Chengfei, will no longer waste time thinking about Sha Xiaomei. I will focus on my game and work hard to achieve my dreams. Thank you, my good brother!" A Fei slapped my hand heavily, and then our hands tightly clasped together as we smiled at each other. 0

We returned to our intense training, as if nothing had ever happened. It was as if Ouyang had never confessed, and A Fei had never been in love. Time passed quickly, and the City High League was about to begin. Teacher Qiu led us to report to the city basketball association. After going through a physical examination, we sat in the lounge waiting for the final matchup list to be announced. We were all speculating about who our opponents would be. After a while, the city basketball association announced the opening of this year's City High League, followed by the introduction of participating schools. Sixteen teams gradually appeared on stage. "Next up is Yulin High School from the Southeast Campus." When our name was called, we walked out and sat in seats marked with our school's name. This was the first high school league that A Fei and I participated in, so we were particularly excited. Looking around, there were many familiar faces: Chengdong, Shiyi Middle School, Twenty-Four Middle School, and... Hejiang, Zhongqi Senior saw Jiang Lingfeng smile and nod at him, and Jiang Lingfeng responded with a smile back at Zhongqi Senior. 0

It was time to announce the draw results. We all waited anxiously. "This league will still use a group round-robin system. Each group consists of four teams, with the top two advancing to the next round. Three points are awarded for a win and none for a loss. If points are tied, we will calculate based on head-to-head results..." The speaker on stage went on for ten minutes before finally finishing. We held our breath as they announced the grouping results: Group A: Twenty-Fourth Middle School, Yulin High School, Qingzhu High School, Shinan High School. We were placed in Group A! Teacher Qiu finally breathed a sigh of relief; it seemed that advancing from this group would be relatively easy since only Qingzhu High School truly had the strength to compete with us. Shinan High School had been a weak team in recent years, and we had just defeated Twenty-Fourth Middle School twice before, so we felt much more relaxed. However, Hejiang Middle School wasn't as fortunate; they were placed in a group with last year's defending champion Third Experimental High School and Shiyi Middle School, which was on par with them in strength, along with last year's top eight team Wu Jieyun High School—a true death group! I noticed their coach's expression was very serious. 0

When we returned to school, Teacher Qiu looked relaxed: "Our grouping situation is quite optimistic this time; there shouldn't be any problems advancing. According to the schedule, we will first go to Qingzhu High School for an away game. Although Qingzhu High School is slightly weaker than us, their school is known for playing 'fast,' so we must not be careless..." After school at noon, A Fei and I were walking back when Sha Xiaomei ran over breathlessly from the playground. "Yo! The school flower is greeting us common folks; we are truly flattered!" I teased her. "Jie, stop it," A Fei said expressionlessly as he looked at Sha Xiaomei. She seemed a bit choked up: "It's nothing... I just wanted to see you; can your eyes handle playing in the game?" At that moment, I felt that Sha Xiaomei was particularly hypocritical; she had fallen far from my initial impression of her. 0

No! It was like she had fallen into an abyss! "I'm fine; thank you for your concern. Is there anything else? If not... I'm sorry; I have to excuse myself." A Fei's words were very cold. "Nothing else; I'm sorry for disturbing you; goodbye." Sha Xiaomei slowly turned to leave. "Wait!" A Fei called out to her. Sha Xiaomei turned back with tear-streaked cheeks as A Fei walked over and took out the crystal pendant from his pocket. "I think... I should return this to you." A Fei held the pendant out in front of Sha Xiaomei as she slowly reached out her hand through her sobs. As A Fei released his grip, the pendant fell into Sha Xiaomei's palm. A Fei pulled me away and turned to leave while I heard Sha Xiaomei crying behind us—her cries were heart-wrenching... 0

Back in class, Xia Ying along with Zhang Yirong and Gu Mei Jiao were laughing together; what was most outrageous was that Zhang Yirong was sitting at my desk! How infuriating! "Ahem!" I cleared my throat twice to signal her to get down but was disappointed when they showed no intention of stopping; they just glanced back at me before continuing their conversation. "Zhang Yirong, are you sitting comfortably?" I asked her sarcastically. "Not bad; it would be better if your desk were a bit lower; it's a bit hard sitting like this," Zhang Yirong replied while looking at me! Wasn't this just shamelessness?! "Zhang Yirong, what I meant was for you to get down." I made it clear with her directly. "Oh come on! Why is a boy being so shy? Sisters, let's go to my place," Zhang Yirong said after stringing together several idioms before jumping down and calling Xia Ying and Gu Mei Jiao to leave. 0

I sat down and took out my phone to log onto QQ; Xue Er and Cookie were both online. As soon as I logged in, Xue Er messaged me: "Dao Dao! I'm really about to collapse; what should I do?" What happened to Xue Er? I quickly replied: "Xue Er don't worry; if there's something bothering you just tell Dao Dao." "Why can't I like the person I like? Why does Grandpa have to torture me like this?" Xue Er used three exclamation marks in her message! "What happened exactly?" My heart raced because I didn't want to see Xue Er unhappy. She replied: "I'm hurting his heart right now—hurting it deeply—seeing him sad makes my heart bleed..." Then Xue Er logged off abruptly! This left me feeling frustrated! Why did she cut off mid-sentence? Cookie was still online so I greeted her: "Cookie! How have you been lately?" Cookie didn't reply but logged off instead—what's going on today? Why is everyone acting mysteriously? It's really confusing. 0

In the evening when I got home, both my parents weren't there. I opened my computer and logged onto QQ invisibly to check my friends' updates on my space; Xue Er had updated her status saying: "Why can't lovers be together? Why!" I entered Xue Er's space—the last time I'd visited it was three months ago—"Leaving you wasn't my choice; how could I bear leaving you? Those words of love I've spoken but are destined for separation..." The melody of Xue Er's background music began playing softly—a very sad song—I remembered that previously her background music was “The Whole World Declares Love for You.” Now she had changed it to this song which seemed similar in melody but conveyed completely different emotions—one joyful while the other sorrowful... 0

Before leaving her space, I wanted to leave some footprints on her message board but noticed there were footprints from A Fei there too! When scrolling down further there were quite a few more footprints—just that the most recent one was over a month ago. 0

It must have been when we saw each other's messages on each other's boards—I didn't expect that although A Fei seemed honest on the surface he actually shared sentiments like “A gentleman loves a graceful lady.” Entering Cookie's space again revealed she had created a new album but it required answering a security question: What is my phone number? Keeping things mysterious until the end—I admire that! It’s time for some relaxation—I opened Crossfire for a bit but ended up getting completely wrecked by others before my parents returned home with takeout food—living such an easy life won’t last long so I'd better cherish it. 0

The next morning A Fei came looking for me to go to school while I was still under the covers; seeing him arrive made me spring up like a fish leaping out of water nearly causing my bed to collapse! On our way to school A Fei and I were discussing Celtics vs Lakers when suddenly he froze up staring straight ahead. “What’s wrong? Are you daydreaming? What do you see?” Following his gaze... Zhao Bin! A Fei suddenly threw down his bike and rushed over quickly saying “A Fei don’t act impulsively; acting rashly is dangerous!” I hurried after him trying to stop him but he shook off my hand running ahead. 0

“Jie don’t worry about this—I’ll handle it myself!” He broke free from my grasp running towards Zhao Bin who was chatting happily with two classmates at an alleyway corner when A Fei charged over pulling Zhao Bin’s shoulder followed by throwing a punch knocking him down onto the ground! “Who the hell are you?! Are you crazy?!” Zhao Bin exclaimed dazedly as his two classmates helped him up while A Fei threw another punch at him! 0

I rushed over hugging A Fei trying to hold him back as Zhao Bin stood up along with his two friends wanting revenge against A Fei “Zhao Bin he’s in a bad mood—don’t stoop down to his level.” I apologized on behalf of A Fei but Zhao Bin yelled angrily “This idiot just came over swinging at me—how could I let that slide?!” Frustrated myself since I'd been holding back anger too after hearing his insult “Who are you calling an idiot?! You’re nothing!” We exchanged insults while behind us A Fei lunged forward tackling Zhao Bin down again starting another fight! 0

Seeing his two companions wanting to attack A Fei too—I rushed forward throwing punches knocking both of them down—we five began brawling in that alleyway... “Are you hurt?” A Fei asked adjusting his wrinkled shirt “Not really—I got punched twice in the stomach by that fat guy but overall didn’t suffer much loss.” Shaking out my wrist since both A Fei and I were taller than those three guys plus having trained physically regularly—they weren’t our match so they fled on their bikes. 0

“Hmph! Isn’t Zhao Bin rich? Why does he still ride his bike to school? Why doesn’t his dad send him in a car?” I scoffed while A Fei remained silent pushing his bike away “Hey wait up for me!” Picking up my bike too chasing after him. 0

As soon as we entered class Xia Ying along with Three Sisters and Shuai Dong saw us looking disheveled immediately rushed over asking “What happened? Did you fall?” Xia Ying asked while A Fei remained quiet walking straight toward his seat “Yeah—we bumped into a warning sign being repaired halfway,” I casually fabricated an excuse “Really?”... Xia Ying eyed me suspiciously “Of course! Why would I lie?” My gaze darted away as I set down my backpack. 0

“Be careful next time—that’s too dangerous,” Pang Hao chimed in just then when class bell rang Xia Ying whispered “If I'm not mistaken—you guys got into a fight.” 0

I knew there was no way hiding it from this clever girl “Yes—we did get into a fight,” I admitted “Xia Ying you're really smart—now guess who we fought with?” 0

Xia Ying thought for a moment before saying: “Zhao Bin?” 0

“Wow! Xia Ying you're truly perceptive!” My jaw dropped in surprise “Well it's not surprising—you guys wouldn’t fight without reason—and your only enemies would be Situ Jianfei or Zhao Bin—Situ Jianfei has transferred already so it must be Zhao Bin! Plus seeing how unscathed you both are—it’s obvious your opponent must have been weak...” 0

I found myself astonished by Xia Ying’s reasoning skills—I started admiring her intelligence more than ever. 0
