Qin Si picked up Luna, her small body feeling as light as a feather in her arms.
Luna tightly clutched the Dragon Pattern Jade, her fingertips turning white from the pressure. The dragon patterns on the jade seemed to flow in the dim light, emanating a strange warmth, as if something was about to break free from its cocoon.
“Qin Si, hurry, take me to find Mother!” Luna's voice carried a barely perceptible tremor, yet her youthful face bore an unusual seriousness for her age.
She could sense that this jade was extraordinary, its hidden secrets potentially capable of shaking the very foundations of the Glorious Demon Fortress.
Though Qin Si did not understand what was happening, Luna's rare solemn expression made her cautious. She hurriedly carried Luna to Aelia's room.
Aelia was leaning by the window, gazing at the twinkling stars in the night sky, lost in thought.
The betrayal of her husband Leonard felt like a deep crack that was difficult to heal within her heart.
Seeing Luna and Qin Si rush in, she furrowed her brow slightly. “What’s wrong, Luna? Why aren’t you asleep at this hour?”
Luna handed the Dragon Pattern Jade to Aelia. “Mother, look!”
Aelia took the jade; it felt cold to the touch and exquisitely smooth.
In the moonlight, the dragon patterns on the jade appeared vivid and alive, as if ready to soar into the sky.
In an instant, she felt a powerful Magical Fluctuation emanating from the jade, rushing into her Mind Sea. Fragments of Leonard's Last Night flashed through her mind—ancient prophecies, mysterious rituals, and… the Northwest Wasteland!
She abruptly stood up, her face pale. “Qin Si, quickly prepare! We must set off tonight!”
“Madam, where are we going at this late hour?” Qin Si asked in surprise.
"To the Northwest!" Aelia's voice brooked no argument.
The Northwest, a land filled with the unknown and danger, was home to various powerful Magical Beasts, perpetually shrouded in mist, rarely visited by humans.
Aelia felt a vague sense that this piece of Dragon Pattern Jade was somehow connected to the Northwest Wasteland, and unraveling this mystery might change the Destiny of the Glorious Demon Fortress.
As the news spread, there was an uproar throughout the Magic Castle.
The eldest brother leaned on his cane, his brow furrowed. "The Northwest? That place is..."
Second Brother looked worried. "How could Mother suddenly decide to go to the Northwest? It's too dangerous!"
Only Brother San's eyes sparkled with excitement. "The Northwest! I've heard there are..."
In the early morning, outside the Magic Castle, an elite Magic Guard Team was preparing to set out, their Magic Warhorses snorting and pawing anxiously at the ground.
A tense atmosphere hung in the air.
The eldest brother stepped forward and pointed to the distant rolling mountains. "Beyond these mountains lies the outskirts of the Northwest Wasteland. It is inhabited by numerous Magical Beasts, among which the most dangerous is a species known as the Soul Devouring Tiger. Their claws can tear through Magic Shields and devour a Mage's soul."
He paused for a moment before continuing, "We'll take the Magic Path to avoid large groups, which will reduce our chances of encountering Magical Beasts."
After bidding farewell to the eldest brother, they continued their journey.
Along the way, Brother San enthusiastically recounted legends he had read about the Northwest Wasteland from ancient texts—mysterious ruins, powerful magical creatures—making everyone feel alternately tense and excited.
As night fell, a profound silence enveloped the surroundings, broken only by the sound of the Magic Carriage's wheels grinding against the Ground in the desolate wilderness.
Suddenly, a deep growl from the Frost Wolf shattered the tranquility.
“It’s the Soul Devouring Tiger!” The voice of the Captain of the Guard was filled with dread.
In an instant, countless green eyes flickered to life in the darkness, surrounding the Horse-drawn Carriage.
Alongside the Soul Devouring Tiger were packs of Demon Wolves, their chilling howls echoing like demons from hell.
The atmosphere grew tense to its breaking point as everyone tightened their grips on their magical weapons, preparing for a desperate fight.
At that moment, Qin Si made an unexpected move that took everyone by surprise.
Calmly, she opened the carriage door and stepped down from the Horse-drawn Carriage, walking slowly toward the wolf pack...
“Qin Si!” Aelia gasped.
Qin Si paused, glanced back at Aelia, and a mysterious smile crept across her lips. “My lady, don’t worry.”
Then she continued toward the wolves, extending her hand in full view of everyone...
