"The Sect Leader's powers are unmatched; that kid is surely no match for him," Zou Konghu shouted in flattery.
The others echoed his sentiments, bowing and calling out in agreement.
Luo Baihao's expression was grim as he looked into the distance, his gaze unsettling. He was unaware that news of his arrival in Fenglin City had reached Jiang Chen, nor had he sought to find out. In the afternoon, Jiang Chen was resting with his eyes closed in his room when Liao Yangmai knocked and entered to report that the Saint Witch Sect Leader had arrived and scheduled a meeting for tonight on the Tuojiang River.
"Then we'll meet tonight," Jiang Chen replied casually without opening his eyes, appearing indifferent.
Seeing Jiang Chen's relaxed demeanor, Liao Yangmai felt at ease as well. After exiting, he went to inform Zeng Xianyi and Li Yang.
The two military leaders were currently sipping tea and chatting. Although they knew the Saint Witch Sect Leader would come today, their expressions turned slightly unnatural upon hearing the news.
"Does Mr. Jiang know?" Zeng Xianyi asked hurriedly.
"I've already informed Mr. Jiang, but this is a trivial matter; he likely doesn't care much about it. To him, the Holy Witch Cult is probably just a bunch of insignificant characters," Liao Yangmai reassured them. "Former Chief, Director Li, you need not worry too much."
"True enough; let's just be good spectators," Zeng Xianyi nodded, feeling confident in Jiang Chen's abilities.
"By the way, Clan Leader Liao, when you meet tonight on the Tuojiang, avoid choosing a spot with too many people on the river; stay away from the county town," Li Yang advised, still concerned about attracting attention.
"Rest assured, Director Li. We'll meet on a pleasure boat tonight; I'll have it drift downstream on the Tuojiang to ensure we don't disturb the residents or tourists in the city. Plus, I checked the weather forecast—it's going to rain tonight. With the rain as cover, even if Mr. Jiang and the Saint Witch Sect Leader do end up fighting, it likely won't draw any attention," Liao Yangmai explained.
"That's best. I hope Mr. Jiang can defeat this sect leader as easily as he did yesterday," Li Yang said quietly.
"He definitely will, Old Li. Mr. Jiang's powers are far beyond what we imagine; since he isn't worried at all, we shouldn't be either. I'll go make arrangements while you two continue enjoying your tea," Liao Yangmai said with a smile before cheerfully departing.
As night fell, Fenglin City lit up once more. The docks on the Tuojiang were inactive, and the river lay shrouded in darkness. However, two pleasure boats approached slowly—one from the south and one from the north.
"Bang!"
The two boats gently collided, causing a slight tremor as figures stood on their decks.
On the southern boat stood Liao Yangmai along with clan leaders from the Wu Family, Ma Family, and Long Family—the new Clan Leader of the Long Family was present after their patriarch had been killed by Zou Konghu.
On the northern boat was Shi Tao Di leading the Shi Family.
"Shi Tao Di, you really won't shed tears until you see a coffin! Have you forgotten what happened yesterday? Do you truly believe that the Holy Witch Cult can protect you?" Liao Yangmai sneered.
"Heh, Liao Yangmai, I can't be bothered to waste words with you. Just let Mr. Jiang come over; the Sect Leader is waiting for him inside," Shi Tao Di replied coolly, exuding arrogance as he felt bolstered by the presence of the Saint Witch Sect Leader today.
"How ridiculous. What status does Mr. Jiang have to lower himself to meet him?" Liao Yangmai scoffed.
"Liao Yangmai, don't be unappreciative. The leader is coming tonight, and it's a show of respect towards Mr. Jiang. Don't ruin this opportunity," Shi Tao Di said in a serious tone.
