Gao Jun lifted his head, his eyes filled with uncontainable despair and sorrow. "Oh my God! You’ve finally destroyed her. Why did you do this? Why?" 0

I could hardly believe the horrifying scene before me, and Gao Jun's reaction made it even more unbelievable. "You knew all along, didn't you? You knew that father had trapped his daughter alive in the Wax Figure, which is why she has such vivid and terrifying eyes. You understand all of this, yet you are still so infatuated with her, praising an act that should be cursed. What is wrong with you? Have you gone mad?" 0

"You don’t understand; you have no idea what art is. Compared to this great work, what is a human life worth? Life will eventually fade away, but art can last forever. It was out of love for his daughter that the father did this... You will never understand... Faced with such a magnificent piece, your only feeling is fear—how pathetic!" As Gao Jun spoke, he sorrowfully stroked the shattered Wax Figure on the ground. 0

Is this what art is? At least, this kind of art is beyond my comprehension. 0

"It’s gone, never to return... That kind of gaze, that kind of art... I shouldn’t have let you in; it was my fault, my fault..." Gao Jun murmured to himself. 0

Seeing Gao Jun in such a dazed state made my heart ache, and tears began to fall. The fear I had felt moments ago suddenly transformed into disgust. The actions of the Wax Sculptor filled me with hatred and revulsion; he had not only cruelly stripped his daughter of her life but had also driven Gao Jun to the brink of madness. 0

Fortunately, it was all finally over. The girl had found release and should no longer haunt me. Gao Jun had lost his obsession; he would recover and return to the caring boy I once knew and loved. 0

We needed to leave this room—now! 0

My body felt weak as I struggled to push myself up with my left hand. Suddenly, I felt something cold in my palm, as if pressing against a hard, elongated object. When I shone my flashlight on it, I discovered a sharp little knife about the length of my palm and as thick as a pen. 0

The knife had a peculiar shape; it only had one sharpened edge and seemed to be a tool used for carving. The blade was smeared with dried blood, glinting ominously in the flashlight's beam. 0

I let out a surprised "Hmm?" as I reached down to pick up the knife. 0

"Don’t touch it!" Gao Jun noticed my movement and suddenly became alert, stopping me sharply. 0

"What’s wrong?" I recoiled in fear, pulling my hand back. 0

Gao Jun looked at me with a strange expression, then let out a bitter laugh. "Don't leave your fingerprints on it. This is the murder weapon you mentioned!" 0

A jolt of shock ran through me as I recalled what Officer Lan had said earlier. The characteristics of this knife indeed matched those of the murder weapon. Looking closer, I noticed several bloodstains on the ground nearby, extending all the way to the windowsill a meter away. 0

Connecting the dots with the bloodstains on the balcony and that painting, I suddenly realized something and trembled as I asked Gao Jun, "Did you... did you kill that person?" 0

Gao Jun was silent for a moment before slowly nodding. 0

My mind buzzed. He admitted it! He confessed to killing someone?! 0

I shook my head in disbelief, my voice trembling with tears. "No way! You're lying to me... How could you kill someone?" 0

"Xiaoyun, calm down. Let me explain," he urged. 0

"No, I won’t listen! What is going on? Have you lost your mind?" I struggled to control my emotions, tears streaming down my face. 0

"Keep your voice down!" Gao Jun snapped, his tone urgent. "Do you want others to hear? Do you want me to get arrested and sentenced to death?" 0

I was intimidated into silence, sniffling as I tried to hold back my sobs. But the thought that his threat could become a reality twisted my heart like thorns, and I couldn't help but whimper again. 0

"Xiaoyun, don’t cry. Just listen to me," Gao Jun said gently, placing a hand on my shoulder. "The person I killed wasn’t innocent; he was a thief." 0
