In the Calderia Kingdom, if one wishes to make something appear legitimate, solemn, and aboveboard, the simplest way is to hold a "traditional ceremonial competition." Especially after the Noble Council was embarrassed by their disastrous defeat in the "Memory Projection Review," they were eager to regain their dignity. Thus, they quickly submitted a retaliatory proposal:
“To safeguard the reputation of the council and the order of magic, we suggest restarting the long-suspended Royal Wizard Challenge, with each side—commoners and nobles—sending a representative to publicly duel and determine the 'magical discourse authority within the academy.'”
This proposal was worded grandly, but every member of the Hot Pot Alliance knew it was merely a euphemism for: “Whoever wins has the right to speak.”
A week later, the challenge officially commenced. The rules of the competition were jointly established by the Royal Council and the academy, divided into two parts:
• First Round: Magic Debate
Moderated by three academic wizards, both sides were required to engage in an open confrontation on the topic of “Should the source of magic be based on lineage vs. ability?”
• Second Round: Elemental Duel
A one-on-one magical contest where lethal spells were prohibited, but summoning Constructed Objects, tactical traps, and any dramatic means that did not violate physical laws were allowed.
When the list of participants was announced, a brief silence fell over the entire academy:
• Noble Representative: Leo Weissleck (pureblood sixth generation, nephew of the council's legal department)
• Commoner Representative: Nora Thorn (Half-Blood girl, holder of the largest collection of Hot Pot Alliance jokes)
Upon learning of this, Elias Thorn set up a three-layer magical defense array outside their dormitory that night and sent a card reading: “Go for it, daughter. If you accidentally blow someone up, Dad will handle it.”
The Emotion Recognition Sphere Beta added a voice message: “Please explode with rhythm.”
On the day of the competition, the Main Tower Lecture Hall was packed. The magical live broadcast was handled by four flying Audio-Visual Flies, covering the Royal Capital Council Square throughout.
The first round began. The Master Wizard spoke solemnly: “Please summarize your positions in one sentence.”
Leo stood tall, declaring, "Magic originates from bloodlines; only nobles have the responsibility and qualifications to guide magical civilization."
Nora nodded in response, "Magic comes from the brain; nobles just happen to have the microphone."
Laughter erupted in the crowd.
Leo launched the first offensive, "Without nobles to maintain order, do you think the magical world wouldn't collapse?"
Nora replied, "I believe the definition of nobility is not 'maintaining order,' but rather 'maintaining themselves.'"
The Master Wizard frowned, "Please be mindful of neutral language."
Nora shrugged, "I thought speaking the truth was the most neutral stance."
Leo sneered, "If you were truly fair, you would agree: nobles are strong because they bear more responsibilities through their lineage."
"Like what?"
"Like sacrificing personal time, maintaining the magical education system, constructing public safety barriers—"
"Are you saying that nobles are too busy to have the right to exploit others?"
Nora's tone was gentle, "So exploitation can also be included in a job description."
The applause was thunderous.
In the second round, the Elemental Duel commenced.
The two stood on a rune-embedded arena as shields materialized around them.
Leo was the first to summon a Golden Magic-patterned Griffin, which roared mightily with a wingspan of three meters.
"My grandfather trained it," he said proudly.
Nora quietly opened a small box.
The Emotion Recognition Sphere Beta rolled out, excitedly announcing:
"Constructed Object activation program: Sarcastic Attack + Physical Stab dual system initiated!"
The crowd below stirred as a makeshift Pot-Type Construct clanked its way onto the stage.
It lacked intimidation but spoke up:
"Griffin training records loading: Taming process includes treats, cuddles, and noble hugs—Threat level: Adorable."
Griffin looked clearly bewildered.
Leo roared, "That's a battle beast! Not a pet!"
Nora casually replied, "I’m sorry, it was so polite that I thought it was your family’s pet."
The Emotion Recognition Sphere Beta chimed in, "It certainly bites harder than your speech from last week."
The battle began.
Leo attacked first as Griffin charged forward.
Nora set up an illusion array, conjuring dozens of floating pages, all replicas of inappropriate remarks made by the nobility. "Let it see the elegance passed down in your family."
Griffin flew into the air, suddenly pausing to stare at one line that read, "Common mages are tools," and abruptly turned to fly away.
"It retreated on its own," the Master Wizard said in surprise.
The Emotion Recognition Sphere Beta remarked, "It has judgment; it's currently the most normal member of our team."
For the final blow, Nora unleashed the Resonance Spell, directly activating the ground magic runes to transform the construct pot into a spinning hammer, striking Leo's shield and knocking it over.
The match was over.
The Master Wizard raised his hand to announce, "The winner—Nora Thorn!"
The crowd erupted in cheers.
That night, the Emotion Recognition Sphere Beta rolled into the Hot Pot Alliance meeting room and played a victory message: "The noble representative has fallen, the common representative has risen, the magic pot is open; everyone, please add your ingredients."
Nora did not give any acceptance speech but placed a book on the podium.
The title read: "You Can Be Non-Noble, But Still Steal the Show."
