Mo Wen originally intended to gather some information about the Lava Sea from the tavern's attendant. However, like a mere waiter, the attendant directed him to Huo Lou for answers. Although the town was close to the Lava Sea and people frequently traveled in and out, it was said that Huo Lou was the best source for information about it. Rumors even suggested that the master of Huo Lou came to this place specifically for the Lava Sea. From the attendant, Mo Wen learned that Huo Lou did not open every day; its operating hours depended entirely on the owner's mood. Nevertheless, there were still a few days each month when it would be open for business. Fortunately for Mo Wen, he heard that Huo Lou would open its doors the very next day.
At dawn, Mo Wen packed his belongings and set off towards Huo Lou as per the attendant's guidance. The auction at Huo Lou was scheduled to start at noon. Given Mo Wen's stamina, he could have left later, but as a newcomer to the town, he wanted to experience its local customs and culture. He was curious about what a place that seemed lawless to outsiders truly looked like.
As expected in a black market, there were unique items available that regular shops dared not sell. Here, one could find everything from medicinal herbs and elixirs to materials and weapons, as well as both righteous and dubious forms of Kung Fu. Although he couldn't discern their authenticity, Mo Wen found himself dazzled by the array of goods. He considered purchasing some items; after all, when he left Yinzhou, Yin Qian had given him a substantial sum of "travel expenses." Mo Wen did not refuse this money since he genuinely needed it. Moreover, the benefits he brought to the Jin Family far exceeded mere monetary value. Just facilitating cooperation between the Jin Family and the Li Family had proven more advantageous than acquiring Wu Prefecture. Additionally, he had even cured that troublesome woman’s depression for the Jin Family. Of course, Yin Qian was generous enough to offer his only Ling Crystal, but Mo Wen ultimately declined. He already possessed Ling Crystals himself and suspected that what the entire Jin Family could muster together was less than what he had on hand. Most importantly, Ling Crystals were crucial for the Jin Family but had yet to reveal their significance to him.
Yin Qian was quite pleased with Mo Wen's decision; while the Jin Family lacked money, they were in dire need of cultivation resources. By choosing money over cultivation resources, Mo Wen inadvertently showed his consideration for the Jin Family. In the end, both men were satisfied with their arrangement—a scenario that delighted Mo Wen.
As noon approached, Mo Wen finally made his way to Huo Lou. Located in the heart of the town, Huo Lou was surrounded by other buildings and streets that radiated outward in concentric circles. These circles were divided into four sections by two intersecting streets. Huo Lou stood at the center of this town, not only as its focal point but also as its tallest building. The structure rose six stories high with a four-sided tower shape and pointed roofs at each corner aligned with the four vertical streets below. Without those streets, one might think of the entire town as resembling a square coin—symbolizing heaven being round and earth being square.
Huo Lou's foundation measured fifty zhang in circumference and rose about ten zhang above the surrounding squares, connected by crimson steps leading up from them. This elevated platform served as an auction venue during events held at Huo Lou. The entire building was constructed from these red stones said to have been sourced from deep within the Lava Sea; it took considerable effort for Huo Lou's original owner to transport them here. At night, these stones emitted a red glow; when illuminated by firelight, they gave rise to Huo Lou's name.
