For several weeks now, every Sunday, Zhou Jie had been urging Tan Lei to go home and visit their mother. Their mother always said that even if Tan Lei came home, he would spend all his time wanting to run outside, unlike Zhou Jie, who obediently stayed at home to keep her company. Tan Lei had no words to argue and could only make faces at Zhou Jie. 0

This weekend, as soon as class ended, Tan Lei drove Zhou Jie back home. After dinner, Zhou Jie helped their mother tidy up the kitchen and then carried a half-bucket of water upstairs to organize Tan Lei's room. 0

Tan Lei was sitting at his desk; he had already returned the Nintendo console to Meng Hui and was now playing computer games. 0

"Move aside, Young Master," Zhou Jie said irritably while wiping the desk. 0

Tan Lei's fingers flew across the keyboard as he focused on breaking bricks in the game. After Zhou Jie had wiped most of the desktop, her hand slipped and accidentally bumped the computer. With a "ding," the screen went dark. 0

Both Tan Lei and Zhou Jie stared blankly at the computer, but the power light didn’t even turn on. After a long pause, Zhou Jie finally said, "Hey, what happened?" 0

"I don't know..." Tan Lei pressed the power button again, but there was no response. 0

"I just touched it lightly," Zhou Jie said anxiously. 0

"Well, I know." 0

Tan Lei pressed for a while longer, moved the monitor aside, shook the main unit, and finally found a screwdriver to open the casing. He tapped around inside but still had no luck. 0

"Forget it!" Tan Lei said. "I'll have a classmate come take a look tomorrow." 0

"Aren't you not going to be home tomorrow?" Zhou Jie asked. Tan Lei's class was having a meeting to discuss plans for a graduation trip during winter break, and he was one of the organizers. 0

"I'll find someone who doesn't need to attend the meeting." 0

Saying this, he went to make a phone call. After a while, he returned and said he had found someone who would come tomorrow; however, by then Tan Lei would likely have already left. Zhou Jie thought that she knew most of Tan Lei's classmates anyway, so it wouldn't be a problem. 0

That night, Zhou Jie went to sleep with their mother. The two chatted away until midnight and didn’t get up until late the next morning. Their mother had recently developed a habit of showering after getting out of bed, and by the time they finished getting ready, it was nearly ten-thirty. 0

When they went downstairs, they found that Tan Lei had already left. He had left a note on the dining table telling them he had gone to a meeting and would be back in the afternoon. He also mentioned that the toilet downstairs was broken and that he had contacted a plumbing service, but someone wouldn’t be able to come until tomorrow. 0

Their mother toasted some buttered bread for breakfast while they drank fresh milk. Just as they were halfway through their meal, the doorbell rang. Zhou Jie ran to answer it and found two boys standing outside. 0

"Ah!" Zhou Jie exclaimed in surprise. "It's you guys!" 0

Outside were Li Bing and Yan Jinquan; they were the ones Tan Lei had called for help. Both Li Bing and Yan Jinquan looked somewhat surprised to see Zhou Jie opening the door. 0

"Wow! Zhou Jie," Li Bing said. "You live at Tan Lei's house?" 0

"Don't say that; come in!" 0

Zhou Jie led them inside and introduced them to Tan Lei's mom as Tan Lei's classmates who had come to help check on his broken computer. Li Bing quickly called out "Auntie," while Yan Jinquan, who seemed to be from Jiangnan, referred to her as "Auntie" too. 0

Tan Lei's mom asked if they had eaten breakfast; both boys replied that they had already eaten. Not wanting them to wait around awkwardly, Zhou Jie left half a piece of uneaten toast on the table and took them upstairs to check out the computer. 0

The three of them arrived at Tan Lei's room; since Tan Lei had taken off the computer casing last night without putting it back on, Zhou Jie explained what happened when it crashed. Li Bing seemed thoughtful while Yan Jinquan scratched his head before finally saying, "Alright, let's give it a try." 0

"Oh," Zhou Jie said, "then I'll trouble you all. I'm going down for breakfast now." 0
"Wait a moment, wait a moment," Li Bing pulled her back. 0
"What is it?" Zhou Jie asked. 0
"First, give me a little reward!" Li Bing said. 0
"What reward?" 0
Li Bing pointed at her own mouth, and Zhou Jie blushed, scolding, "You pervert!" 0
