"But Sister Liang, some people are just low-key and don't care about their appearance," Wu Xiangli quietly countered.
Sister Liang's expression darkened further at Wu Xiangli's rebuttal, which only made her mood worse. She looked at Jiang Chen and sneered, "There are indeed low-key people, but unfortunately, he's not one of them. Xiangli, you're too young and easily fooled by appearances. Do you believe me? If I call security right now, they'll throw him out immediately. He's here but hiding in the lounge; it’s obvious he feels guilty."
Sister Liang spoke with conviction, leaving Wu Xiangli momentarily speechless. She wanted to defend Jiang Chen but found herself at a loss for words.
"Why don't you go ahead and call security?" Jiang Chen suddenly smiled.
"You think I wouldn't dare?" Sister Liang replied sternly, taken aback by Jiang Chen's audacity. However, she ultimately refrained from calling security.
Sister Liang herself wasn't a big shot; she had enough self-awareness to know that while she could intimidate Jiang Chen, she had reservations about taking it too far.
Qin Xiaoya was chatting with Yang Yuxin when she noticed someone confronting Jiang Chen, seemingly arguing with him. Her expression changed as she hurried over.
Seeing Qin Xiaoya and Yang Yuxin approach, Sister Liang felt a shift in the atmosphere. Although she didn't know them personally, their outstanding demeanor and luxurious attire indicated they were of significance. Her face brightened with a forced smile as she welcomed them, unsure of how to address them directly.
Qin Xiaoya approached Jiang Chen and glanced at Sister Liang and Wu Xiangli before asking him, "Mr. Jiang, have they disturbed you? Should I have someone escort them out?"
Upon hearing Qin Xiaoya's words, Sister Liang's expression shifted dramatically; anger bubbled within her as she realized that Qin Xiaoya intended to dismiss her without hesitation. Sister Liang believed that after years in the entertainment industry, she had built some connections and status.
"Miss, that's a bit too much," Sister Liang said defensively.
Qin Xiaoya ignored her and continued to look at Jiang Chen, waiting for his response.
"Let it go," Jiang Chen said lightly.
Qin Xiaoya nodded in agreement; since Jiang Chen wasn't angry, that was best. She turned her cold gaze toward Sister Liang, whose heart sank under the weight of Qin Xiaoya's icy demeanor.
"Please leave if there's nothing else," Qin Xiaoya said coldly.
"Hmph." Although Sister Liang felt indignant, she didn't dare offend Qin Xiaoya further. Reluctantly, she pulled Wu Xiangli away.
"Whatever. Who do they think they are?" Sister Liang muttered under her breath in dissatisfaction.
"Sister Liang, just let it go," Wu Xiangli advised gently.
"I can't swallow this! Xiangli, among the girls I brought along, you're the prettiest and most innocent. You need to work hard tonight! In this industry, connections are extremely important. Without a benefactor backing you up, no matter how good your acting is, you won't make it big. Wait until Gu Xiangzhou from the Gu Family arrives; if you can win his heart, you'll thrive in the entertainment world with endless resources."
"Gu Xiangzhou?" Wu Xiangli exclaimed in surprise. Gu Xiangzhou had recently gained significant fame in the entertainment industry after filming a movie alongside the popular star Lin Bingbing. Due to this film's circumstances, Lin Bingbing had mysteriously withdrawn from the industry without any news since then.
