"Ah, Qin Xiaoya, this Mr. Jiang is indeed quite powerful, but our Qin family also holds a respectable position. We can befriend Mr. Jiang and even treat him as an esteemed guest, but to consider him your master is going too far. Have you not thought that he might use you to gain control over our Qin family?" Qin Baonan said with evident concern.
"Grandfather, you're overthinking it. Our family’s young master wouldn’t even look at him," Qin Xiaoya replied with a smile.
"Hmm?" Qin Baonan frowned.
"Grandfather, you can't imagine the depth of the young master’s background. In time, you'll understand how fortunate I am to be his servant," Qin Xiaoya said, feigning profundity.
"Could it be that he really is some kind of deity?" Qin Baonan remarked, somewhat dismissive of his granddaughter's words.
As the leader of a prominent family in the capital, Qin Baonan had seen much more than others. He understood that this world was filled with hidden talents and that powerful individuals could harness Inner Energy to kill from afar. However, no matter how formidable martial arts were, they were still bound by the limitations of the human body. This era was not like a century ago when cold weapons ruled; now technology was advanced, and Super Weapons emerged one after another. Even a martial artist at their peak could not compete with Super Weapons.
Qin Baonan respected Martial Artists and hoped for cooperation but would never submit to anyone. The idea of his granddaughter taking pride in being Jiang Chen's servant left a sour taste in his mouth.
"Grandfather, you can regard the young master as a deity," Qin Xiaoya said earnestly.
"Qin Xiaoya, I see you've been bewitched by him. It's one thing to be polite in front of him, but why speak such nonsense behind his back? What era are we in? Humanity has even landed on the moon; how could there be any deities? You’ve received a good education; how can you speak so absurdly?"
"He is just a martial arts expert, stronger than most but certainly not a deity," Qin Baonan stated seriously.
He believed he was still sharp enough and that flattering Jiang Chen was merely a reluctant act; however, he wished she would refrain from speaking of deities.
"Grandfather, you don’t understand," Qin Xiaoya replied.
"I don’t understand? Then enlighten me—what kind of deity is this Mr. Jiang?" Qin Baonan asked with amusement.
"Grandfather, please don’t press me; I can’t casually discuss the young master’s matters," Qin Xiaoya said helplessly, feeling hurt by her family's lack of understanding.
"Qin Xiaoya, your grandfather only wants what’s best for you. Your mother also thinks it’s inappropriate for you to serve Mr. Jiang as a maid. If you were his girlfriend, your mother could accept that, but being a maid is simply unacceptable," her mother Lin Cai'e added.
"Mom, I’m content being a maid. As for being the young master’s girlfriend, I wouldn’t even dare to think about it," Qin Xiaoya sighed. Though she had feelings for him, she knew she was unworthy of Jiang Chen. A person like him surely deserved someone truly extraordinary; no matter how beautiful or graceful an ordinary woman might be, it wouldn’t matter.
"Qin Xiaoya, ever since you met this Mr. Jiang, you've changed. Are you still my confident daughter who used to be as cold as ice? You were always self-assured in front of any man; why do you suddenly belittle yourself before Mr. Jiang? Honestly, aside from his remarkable abilities, I find his looks quite average," Lin Cai'e remarked.
"Mom, there probably isn’t any man in the world who looks better than the young master," Qin Xiaoya laughed. Her eyes sparkled; although Jiang Chen appeared rather ordinary at first glance, she firmly believed that his current appearance was not truly representative of who he was.
