At that moment, a warm current suddenly surged from my chest. It was gentle yet firm, caressing my soul and dispelling the violent forces within me. Gradually, I felt my consciousness becoming clearer, the power that had controlled me was slowly being suppressed and weakened.
Looking down, I realized it was the jade pendant gifted by my master. It emitted a faint glow, containing a powerful yet gentle energy that permeated my body, soothing my spirit. At this moment, however, the Azure Blood Sword emitted a buzzing sound, as if protesting; its crimson light grew ever stronger. Yet, the glow of the pendant intensified as well, though with its brightness, cracks began to appear on the pendant itself.
"No, no!" A wave of intense fear surged within me; I could not lose this final memento left by my master.
But it was too late. With the last surge of warmth flowing into me, the pendant finally could not withstand the force. It shattered completely against my chest, turning into specks of light that dissipated into the air.
The final flicker of light from the pendant seemed to signal something; the violent power of the Azure Blood Sword within me instantly vanished. I felt as if I had regained control of my body. I stopped wielding the sword, gasping for breath as I looked at Yun Yi, my eyes filled with remorse. My body felt an unprecedented emptiness and fatigue. The force that had once driven me like a madman had disappeared, leaving only deep sorrow and exhaustion from battle. My vision began to blur; my body could no longer support itself, and slowly, I collapsed onto the damp ground, losing consciousness.
On the edge of oblivion, I seemed to hear Yun Yi's anxious calls and felt his warm hand touch my cheek. I wanted to respond to him, to tell him I was fine, but words failed me; only my heavy eyelids closed off my world.
When I awoke again, it was in a quiet corner at the bottom of the valley, lying on a thick bed of dry grass. Yun Yi was by my side, his gaze filled with concern. I tried to sit up but could only manage to prop myself up halfway due to my weakness.
"Ling Xue, you finally woke up," Yun Yi said with a hint of relief in his voice.
I nodded and hoarsely asked, "How long have I been unconscious?"
The familiar exchange brought a smile to Yun Yi's lips. "Not long; it's all over now. Everything will be alright," he replied gently.
After some pleasantries, Yun Yi's expression grew serious. "Ling Xue, while clearing the battlefield, I discovered something unusual."
I furrowed my brow as an ominous premonition surged within me. "What is it?"
Yun Yi took a deep breath and slowly said, "In the area where Qingxin Grass was destroyed, I dug around looking for any remaining seeds and found that Ice Heart Grass seems to rely on some kind of spring water for growth. While searching nearby, I finally came across a cave with a pool of ice-cold spring water that resembles what ancient texts describe as a wondrous entity—Xuanbing Spring."
My heart jolted at the mention of Xuanbing Spring. Yes, according to legend, Xuanbing Spring is where the purest and most extreme yin energy converges—a miraculous force capable of reviving the dead. I could hardly believe my ears. "Xuanbing Spring? ...Is this true?"
Yun Yi nodded. "I have verified it; that spring water indeed possesses powerful life force. It can not only heal severe injuries but also purify all evil powers." However, due to its extreme coldness and yin nature, it cannot be consumed directly by humans.
