As winter faded and spring arrived, the cherry blossoms bloomed in succession around the campus, adding a touch of romance to the youthful atmosphere. Time flowed like water, and in the blink of an eye, Nezha and Ao Bing had entered their third year of university. With the deepening of their specialized courses, both began to contemplate their paths after graduation.
One morning, sunlight streamed through the gaps in the curtains, illuminating the dormitory. Nezha rubbed his eyes awake and noticed Ao Bing already seated at his desk, intently flipping through a stack of materials.
"You’re up so early?" Nezha yawned as he walked up behind Ao Bing, resting his hands on his shoulders and curiously glancing at the documents on the table. "What’s this?"
Ao Bing turned around with a smile. "It’s the graduate school application materials from major music academies both domestically and internationally. I’m considering whether to return to the Dragon Palace after graduation or continue my studies."
Nezha looked slightly surprised. "Graduate school? You plan to keep studying music?"
Ao Bing nodded, his eyes sparkling with aspiration. "Ever since I performed piano at the music festival, I realized my love for music runs deeper than I imagined. Especially since there are many similarities between classical music and Dragon Tribe traditional theory; I want to explore this further."
Noticing Ao Bing's serious demeanor, Nezha understood he had been contemplating this for a while. "What about the Dragon Palace? Will Uncle Ao agree?"
Ao Bing stood up and walked to the window, gazing at the distant cherry blossoms. "Father has already agreed to let me postpone my Inheritance Ceremony until after graduation. If I delay it for a few more years, it might raise some eyebrows. But..."
"But what?" Nezha moved closer to Ao Bing and gently held his hand.
Ao Bing turned to Nezha, a hint of hope and anxiety in his eyes. "I have an idea that might allow me to balance both sides. If I study for my master's degree domestically, I can still find time each week to return to the Dragon Palace to handle affairs. At the same time, I can take advantage of opportunities for collaboration between the Dragon Tribe and humans to promote the Underwater Concert Hall project, bringing Dragon Music into the Human World while introducing human music into the Dragon Palace."
Nezha's eyes lit up. "That’s a fantastic idea! You can pursue your musical dreams while fulfilling your duties as prince and fostering cultural exchange between the Dragon Tribe and humans!"
Ao Bing smiled slightly. "This idea is still in its early stages and needs further planning and validation. However, since you support it, I will seriously consider it." He paused for a moment, looking at Nezha. "What about you? How is your progress with the National Football Youth Training Camp interview?"
At the mention of this, Nezha immediately became excited. "Things are going well! I performed pretty well in last weekend's final interview. The examiners particularly appreciated my ideas on youth football education. They said results would be out this week; if I pass, I can start working directly in the training camp after graduation next year."
"That’s wonderful!" Ao Bing was genuinely happy for Nezha. "I’ve always believed you would succeed. Your talent in football and your patience and understanding with young people are exactly what makes an excellent coach."
Nezha scratched his head, feeling a bit shy. "Actually, I've been considering a bolder idea lately."
"What idea?"
Nezha took a deep breath as if gathering courage. "I want to try pursuing a career as a professional player first."
Ao Bing looked surprised. "A professional player? But didn’t you always say you wanted to be a coach?"
"Yes, being a coach is still my ultimate goal," Nezha explained. "But after going through the interview at the training camp, I realized that a truly outstanding coach should have rich practical experience. If I can gain experience on the professional stage for a few years before transitioning into coaching, it would make me more persuasive and capable in guiding others."
