In the darkness, Nezha floated on the edge of half-dream and half-wakefulness. He could feel his body enveloped by the warm, moist air unique to the Crystal Palace, yet he could not fully awaken.
In this drifting consciousness, memories surged like a tide—his first encounter with Ao Bing, the moments they shared living together, their arguments and reconciliations, and that confession beneath the New Year's fireworks. These memories were so vivid, yet so distant.
“Ao Bing…” he called out the name in his dream, his fingers unconsciously gripping the sheets tightly.
Unbeknownst to Nezha in his slumber, chaos reigned in the Dragon Palace at that moment. Although Ao Bing's vital signs had stabilized, his soul remained extremely weak and could falter at any moment.
Worse still, the remnants of Lady Shiji's soul had not completely dissipated; using her remaining strength, she had infiltrated the Dragon Palace with the intent of seizing the last fragment of the Sea Stabilizing Needle.
Suddenly, alarms blared throughout the palace, their shrill sound jolting Nezha awake. He opened his eyes wide and immediately searched for Ao Bing. Fortunately, Ao Bing lay quietly on a nearby bed, his chest rising and falling faintly, a sign that he was still alive.
“What’s happening?” Nezha struggled to sit up and grabbed a passing Dragon Tribe guard.
“Invaders!” the guard replied anxiously. “Someone has breached the Treasury and is trying to steal a fragment of the Sea Stabilizing Needle!”
Nezha instantly understood: “It’s Lady Shiji!”
Without waiting for a response from the guard, Nezha rolled out of bed and stumbled toward the door. His body had not fully recovered, and his Demon Sphere Power was barely at half strength, but he knew how great the danger was for the Dragon Palace at that moment.
If Lady Shiji succeeded in obtaining the last fragment of the Sea Stabilizing Needle, not only would the palace be in peril, but Ao Bing's life would also be threatened once more.
“Hey, where are you going?” Ao Lie rushed from down the corridor and blocked Nezha's unsteady path. “You’re not fit for battle in your current state!”
“Get out of my way!” Nezha’s eyes blazed with anger. “I can’t let Lady Shiji succeed!”
Ao Lie frowned. “Are you sure it’s Lady Shiji? Wasn’t she already defeated by Ao Bing?”
“She was only vanquished in body; part of her soul escaped from the Soul Realm! She must be trying to use the Sea Stabilizing Needle to reconstruct her physical form!” Nezha explained urgently while attempting to sidestep Ao Lie.
After a moment of hesitation, Ao Lie finally stepped aside. “The Treasury is deep within the palace; I’ll take you there. But you must promise me not to overexert yourself—if things go wrong, retreat immediately.”
Nezha did not respond; he simply pressed his lips together tightly and followed closely behind Ao Lie. The corridors of the Dragon Palace were labyrinthine; without a guide, Nezha would likely lose his way.
As they drew closer to the Treasury, the alarm grew louder and vibrations in the water intensified. Nezha could sense a powerful and malevolent force erupting within the Treasury; it felt eerily similar to Lady Shiji's aura from the Soul Realm.
“It’s her!” Nezha clenched his fists as his dwindling Demon Sphere Power began to boil within him.
Finally, they arrived at the entrance to the Treasury. The massive coral doors had been violently smashed open, and several Dragon Tribe guards lay unconscious on the ground. Intense energy fluctuations emanated from within, accompanied by piercing laughter.
“Hahaha! Finally found you, my treasure!” Lady Shiji's voice echoed from deep within the Treasury. “With you, I can reconstruct my body and continue my grand ambitions!”
