"Yes, it is indeed me," Shen Gongbao nodded. "However, I am no longer the monster blinded by ambition. Your seal has indeed worked; I have lost all my demonic power, but in doing so, I have also gained a sense of mental liberation."
Ao Bing remained vigilant. "Why have you returned?"
"To teach and educate," Shen Gongbao replied calmly. "Perhaps this is a form of atonement for my past actions. After losing my demonic power, I had plenty of time to reflect and reassess my deeds. I realized that rather than pursuing elusive power, spreading knowledge and nurturing talent might be the truly meaningful endeavor."
Nezha was skeptical. "Is it really that simple? No hidden agenda?"
Shen Gongbao smiled. "Of course, I do not expect you to believe me right away. Time will prove everything. I am now just an ordinary teacher, hoping to provide valuable knowledge and guidance to my students to the best of my ability."
Ao Bing frowned in thought. "Even as an ordinary person, your understanding of mythology and the supernatural far exceeds that of most. If misused, this knowledge could still pose a danger."
"Astute observation," Shen Gongbao acknowledged with a nod. "Knowledge itself is neither evil nor righteous; it depends on how it is used. I assure you, I will responsibly impart knowledge rather than using it for selfish purposes as I did in the past."
Nezha and Ao Bing exchanged glances, both sensing hesitation and uncertainty in each other's eyes. Shen Gongbao's explanation sounded reasonable, but considering his past actions, it was clearly too early to fully trust him.
"I understand your concerns," Shen Gongbao seemed to see through their thoughts. "There is no need to rush into a decision. Time will demonstrate my sincerity. If you have any questions or need assistance, feel free to come to me at any time. After all, I have a certain understanding of your 'special circumstances' from various perspectives."
With that, he gave a slight bow and turned to leave, leaving Nezha and Ao Bing standing in place, filled with questions.
"Do you believe him?" Nezha asked once Shen Gongbao had walked away.
Ao Bing pondered for a moment. "We can't fully trust him, but we also can't completely dismiss him. He is right; time will reveal everything. For now, let's observe and see if he is genuinely repentant or if he has other motives."
Nezha nodded in agreement. Although Shen Gongbao's actions and words were difficult to decipher, the wisest course of action was to maintain a distance while observing him with vigilance, regardless of whether he was genuinely repentant or had ulterior motives.
In the following weeks, Shen Gongbao's classes remained immensely popular. His charismatic teaching style and unique insights into mythology and history attracted numerous students. Surprisingly, he made no deliberate attempts to approach Nezha and Ao Bing, nor did he display any unusual behavior; he seemed like an ordinary university professor focused solely on teaching.
This "normalcy" made Nezha and Ao Bing feel somewhat uneasy. They had expected Shen Gongbao to take some action or at least try to win them over, but he appeared genuinely intent on teaching, which greatly contrasted with their previous impressions of him.
"Maybe he really has changed?" one evening, Nezha couldn't help but ask Ao Bing. "Perhaps the Sealing Potion not only sealed his demon powers but also altered his personality?"
Ao Bing shook his head. "The Sealing Potion can only seal powers; it cannot change a person's essence. If he has truly changed, it must be by his own choice."
"Do you think he is sincerely remorseful, or is he just putting on an act?" Nezha pressed further.
After pondering for a moment, Ao Bing replied, "I'm not sure. His words and actions do seem flawless, but Shen Gongbao has always been adept at concealing his true intentions. We should continue to observe him."
Just as the two were discussing Shen Gongbao's true motives, a knock at the door interrupted their conversation. Nezha stood up to open the door and found none other than the subject of their discussion—Shen Gongbao—standing outside.
"Professor Shen?" Nezha exclaimed in surprise, his eyes widening. "What brings you here?"
Shen Gongbao smiled slightly. "I apologize for the intrusion; I have some matters I would like to discuss with you. May I come in?"
Nezha hesitated and glanced at Ao Bing, who nodded in agreement, signaling for Shen Gongbao to enter. Regardless of Shen Gongbao's intentions, he no longer possessed demon powers and posed no substantial threat to them.
