The last part of the exhibition was about Dragon Legends and folklore. Ao Bing paused in front of a display board that recounted an ancient tale: the Dragon Tribe and the Fire Spirit were once sworn enemies, but at a certain special moment, they could unite to create unparalleled power.
"This story..." Ao Bing said thoughtfully, "is a bit like us."
Nezha was taken aback for a moment, then understood what Ao Bing meant. "Yeah, water and fire are incompatible, yet they can complement each other." He smiled, "Just like you said, we are Partners!"
Ao Bing nodded, a slight smile playing at the corners of his mouth. "Partners."
This simple word stirred different ripples in their hearts. For Nezha, "Partner" signified trust and synergy; for Ao Bing, it represented understanding and acceptance. Yet beneath these surface meanings, a more subtle emotion was quietly taking root.
After finishing the exhibition, it was nearing noon. The two discussed where to go for lunch.
"I know a good restaurant nearby," Ao Bing suggested. "Their boiled fish is quite special."
Nezha's eyes lit up. "Wow, you actually know places to eat? I thought you only knew the library and classroom!"
Ao Bing frowned slightly. "I'm just an ordinary person; I need to eat normally."
"I was joking!" Nezha said with a playful grin. "But I do like spicy food. Is the boiled fish at this place spicy enough?"
Ao Bing nodded. "Don't worry, it'll be spicy enough to make you cry."
"Then it's settled!" Nezha declared excitedly.
The two of them arrived at the restaurant and ordered a spicy boiled fish along with a few side dishes. When the waiter brought out the steaming hot fish, Nezha eagerly picked up a piece and put it in his mouth, only to be overwhelmed by the spiciness that brought tears to his eyes.
"Wow—it's really spicy!" Nezha gasped, but his face bore a satisfied expression. "But it's so delicious!"
Ao Bing watched his exaggerated reaction and couldn't help but laugh. "I told you it would make you cry."
"Aren't you going to eat?" Nezha asked, noticing that Ao Bing was only sampling the dish.
Ao Bing shook his head. "I can't handle spicy food very well."
"What?!" Nezha exclaimed in surprise. "Then why did you recommend this place?"
Ao Bing shrugged. "Because I know you like spicy food."
This simple answer stirred something in Nezha's heart. The fact that Ao Bing remembered his taste preferences and even recommended a restaurant he himself couldn't fully enjoy just to accommodate him was incredibly thoughtful. A warm feeling surged within Nezha.
"I'll go ask them to bring a non-spicy side dish," Nezha said as he prepared to get up.
Ao Bing waved his hand. "No need, I can eat the vegetables on the side; don't waste food."
"How can I let you eat just vegetables?" Nezha insisted, already waving for the waiter to order a serving of Steamed Fish.
Ao Bing looked at him helplessly but didn’t stop him. Watching Nezha's eager demeanor, he felt a warmth spreading in his heart.
The two enjoyed their lunch exceptionally well. Nezha's exaggerated expressions and amusing remarks brought smiles to Ao Bing's face from time to time, while Ao Bing's occasional witty responses made Nezha burst into laughter. They discussed everything from classes to soccer, from music to movies, discovering that they had quite a few common interests.
"I can't believe you also read Science Fiction Novels!" Nezha exclaimed in surprise. "I thought you only read those serious academic texts."
Ao Bing smiled slightly, "The imagination and reflections on the future in Science Fiction Novels are equally worthy of study and appreciation."
"Well said!" Nezha praised. "Which author do you like the most?"
