Mo Wen sat on a tree branch, admiring the night scenery of the forest. It had been three months since he broke through to the Qi Binding Realm, and he had now reached the Completion of Qi Realm, getting closer to the Completion of Qi Refinement Realm. Compared to his previous speed in the Speed Realm, his current cultivation pace was much faster. However, he did not feel overly joyful; he lacked the Kung Fu necessary for the next Realm. Even if he reached the Completion of Qi Refinement Realm, he would still be unable to break through.
He realized that growing through battle was indeed much faster than sitting idle in meditation, and it felt far more substantial. He had grown fond of this life in the forest, even though it involved daily combat. By now, he had lost count of how many battles he had fought, but during this time, he had developed many "instincts"—setting traps, camouflage, hunting—skills that came as naturally to him as cooking once did. His mastery over the Law of Power had also become increasingly proficient; when fighting Chimeras, he rarely relied on talismans anymore, instead using his own Law to counter them.
Of course, he had faced many life-and-death struggles; situations similar to that cliff incident occurred almost every month. Now that his Realm had improved, his recovery speed was much quicker. He could fully recover in just one day, thanks to the trump card he possessed: the Shuang Sheng Lian. He no longer feared consuming Chi Jing to heal his Shen Hun injuries. Each time, he would refine the Chi Jing in advance for emergencies. He felt that his Shen Hun power was at least twice as strong now. This assessment was based on what Old Lu said about Qi Binding Realm cultivators having a perception range exceeding a thousand zhang; he estimated his own perception range to be around three thousand zhang. Whether this judgment was accurate or not didn't concern him; what mattered most was that such a distance allowed him ample time to prepare for battle.
During this time, he had also gained a clearer understanding of his combat power. He now equated his strength with that of Fu Jing because he had been pursued by a Symbolic Beast for an entire day and night, ultimately turning that Demon Beast into sustenance. However, every encounter with higher Realms ended with him fleeing in defeat; several of those life-and-death struggles involved being hunted.
The nights in the forest were lively—more so than during the day—with battles occurring all around him. He had long grown accustomed to such nights; even if a fight broke out right beneath him, as long as it posed no threat to him, he could easily ignore it.
"Hmm? Why is someone moving around at night?" Mo Wen sensed someone running toward him as if being chased.
"It's a Chimera!" Mo Wen exclaimed in surprise. He recognized this type of Chimera from books he'd read; although they were Non-Grade Chimeras, their combat power was equivalent to Fu Jing's. Before choosing to spend the night here, he had checked and found no such Chimeras nearby. Now, one was chasing a woman who appeared to be injured severely and seemed to have reached the Ning Shen Realm.
Sighing deeply, Mo Wen stood up and prepared to descend from the tree. He felt compelled to help and noticed that the Chimera seemed to have detected him as well. The woman had hidden behind a rock; her injuries were too severe for her to escape any further. As she sensed that the Chimera had stopped pursuing her and no longer locked onto her presence, she let out a breath she had been holding and fainted immediately afterward.
