"Is that so? It wasn't me who wanted to buy goods from you. As a small-time player, I can't afford that much money. The ones I deal with can't even afford good stuff. Someone asked me about you, heard we used to be in Myanmar together—"
"Get to the point."
Kana offered him a slice of fruit, and Zhou Yinkun took a bite. It was chilled and sweet; all he wanted now was to enjoy the beauty around him.
"It's Wu Bangzhi. He wants me to act as an intermediary."
That name sounded familiar. Zhou Yinkun thought for a moment, "Is he related to Wu Bangqi?"
Wu Bangqi was a general and the deputy director of the Royal Thai Police.
"He's his younger brother. Wu Bangqi has three brothers, and this is the youngest. He runs a chemical company, but it's doing terribly—he's the worst among the four brothers. But who knows, he might have some connections. That shell of a chemical company has made quite a bit of money, and now he wants to get goods from you to make a quick profit."
"Does Wu Bangqi know about this?"
There was a pause on the other end; he didn't dare to answer.
"Are you out of your mind? You come to me without even knowing which way the wind is blowing?" Zhou Yinkun said impatiently, "Get lost, tell him to go home and drink milk."
"Wait, wait, A Kun! Let me finish! This Wu Bangzhi is from the same mother as Wu Bangqi. With him around, what do you have to worry about? If anything goes wrong, isn't Wu Bangzhi the perfect target? His brother won't let him get into trouble; in the end, he'll cover for him. Isn't that an opportunity served on a platter?"
"Enough with the nonsense. I know better than you what kind of person Wu Bangqi is. Zhou Yaohui has been trying to win him over for two years and hasn't gotten anywhere. How could he not know what his brother is up to?"
"Yeah, he knows everything. So why hasn't he cut off my connection? I've been calling you for a week; if Wu Bangqi wanted to warn me, he could have done it eight hundred times already. Why hasn't there been any movement?"
Tasan said mysteriously on the other end, "I heard Wu Bangqi is coming down soon; it's uncertain whether he'll stay in Thailand afterward. It makes sense to rake in some cash before he leaves."
That piece of news was intriguing. Zhou Yinkun wrapped his arm around Kana's slender waist, enjoying the fruit she fed him while his fingers played with her hair cascading down to her waist. "If we're going to do this, let Wu Bangqi talk directly with me. If he's hiding behind Wu Bangzhi waiting for handouts, then there's no deal."
"Ah..." Tasan sounded troubled on the other end. "A Kun, he hasn't come down yet."
Zhou Yinkun hung up the phone.
Three days later, Tasan called again and said Wu Bangqi had agreed. But he wasn't in Bangkok; he was in Pattaya attending the Anti-Terrorism Alliance Summit and couldn't get away.
Zhou Yinkun had grown tired of staying on Sha Mei Island, so the next day he took A Yao to Pattaya.
The charity sale for the Charity Summer Camp was held at Royal Garden Square in Pattaya.
Flags for the Charity Summer Camp were set up around the large shopping mall. Students participating in the event could create handmade items in designated craft shops within the mall and then sell their crafts, food, or drinks at stalls outside.
Xiaxia was selling bento boxes that she had made herself. Even the eco-friendly packaging for the bento boxes was folded and decorated by her own hands, with blessings written in Thai on each box. The sealing area featured a small sticker of a Pink Haired Girl.
Her stall faced the beach, and most of her customers were tourists enjoying the sun. Thanks to a small refrigerator provided by the organizers, her chilled fruit bento boxes sold out quickly. Fortunately, it wasn't the hottest month in Thailand anymore. Xiaxia kept an eye on a few lunch bento boxes that hadn't sold yet, wiping the sweat from her temples while pushing the boxes that had been exposed to the sun into the shade of her umbrella.
At that moment, a food cart from the Summer Camp arrived. Each participating student received a special Nutritional Lunch. Xiaxia stood up to receive her lunch from the teacher delivering it, thanking them in standard Thai.
After the teacher left, she opened her bento box. Inside, the vegetables, rice, seafood, and meat were perfectly paired. However, Xiaxia wasn't used to staying in such hot conditions for long. Even though her lunch looked delicious and fragrant, she found herself lacking an appetite.
Just as she was about to close the lid, she suddenly felt a gaze fixed on her.
Xiaxia looked over and noticed a small child had appeared at one corner of her stall. He looked about four or five years old, just tall enough to peek over the edge of the stall with his dark eyes focused intently on her lunch.
Meeting his gaze, Xiaxia realized that his attention wasn't on her but rather on the meal in her hands.
After a moment of silence, it was Xiaxia who spoke first.
"Do you want to come sit over here?" she asked in Thai.
The little boy remained silent, still leaning against the corner of the stall and gazing at her lunch.
"If you want to eat it, you can come sit here," she waved him over.
The boy seemed skeptical about such an offer; his expression shifted from desire to cautious curiosity after hearing Xiaxia's words.
"This bento box needs to be returned. If you want to eat it, you can only do so here," Xiaxia said patiently. "Do you want some?"
Finally nodding his head, just as Xiaxia was about to get up and open the barrier of her stall for him to enter, he surprised her by crawling under it and arriving right at Zhou Xiaxia's feet.
Xiaxia widened her eyes as she looked at the head at her feet. When she glanced up, he resembled an adorable little puppy.
Zhou Xiaxia chuckled softly and then reached out her hand. Her hand was small, with delicate, fair skin, creating a stark contrast when the child's darker, dirt-streaked hand was placed in hers.
The boy noticed this too. After being pulled up, he immediately withdrew his hand and cautiously glanced at Xiaxia, seemingly worried that she would change her mind about letting him eat if she found him too dirty.
Xiaxia, however, took out some wet wipes from her bag and retrieved a bottle of mineral water from the small refrigerator, placing both along with a lunch box in front of the little boy.
Only then did the boy feel reassured. He picked up a fork and began to eat heartily from the lunch box. Xiaxia was surprised that someone so small could eat so much; within ten minutes, the box was completely empty.
"Are you full?"
Upon hearing her question, the boy nodded eagerly, using his thin arm to wipe the grease from his mouth. He flashed a grin at Xiaxia, indicating that he was very satisfied.
Xiaxia patted his head. "Then you should head back."
The boy nodded first but then hesitated as he saw Xiaxia opening the stall's gate for her. He took two steps forward but stopped uncertainly.
"What's wrong?"
The boy raised his hand and pointed in a direction on the beach, telling Xiaxia in Thai, "They don’t have food either."
