In ancient times, there was a mountain with a formidable name, known as Di Shan. Though the Emperor was not present, the mountain was lush and vibrant, home to a miraculous herb called Du Heng, which could make horses run faster and cure tumors in humans. A strange beast resided by the creek, resembling a dog and capable of climbing trees. It was said that using its fur to make bedding would protect the sleeper from poison and malevolent spirits. However, this creek was difficult to find; even Qin De Gong, the ruler of a great nation, could not locate it. In desperation, he resorted to killing several large dogs that resembled the creature to ward off evil. Surprisingly, this substitution proved effective, and thus the use of Dog Blood to repel evil became a custom passed down through generations, turning into a folk remedy for exorcising demons.
Old Qiao had long harbored suspicions, so while my junior brother and I were probing each other, he presented us with a bowl of authentic aged Dog Blood Soup. He later explained that it was blood from the village's guard dog during its birthing process, known for its potency against evil and bestiality. This particular batch had been preserved for over twenty years in his specially crafted vessel. If it weren't for the dire circumstances, he would never have shared it with us.
My junior brother nearly fainted from the sudden onslaught of the foul-smelling Dog Blood. Just as he was about to react, he noticed a corpse behind him suddenly sit up from the ground. Without hesitation, he charged at it with the Dog Blood in an attempt to subdue it.
However, this Nv Ba was no ordinary being; taking advantage of its corpse-like form, it exuded an air of arrogance. A strange cackle escaped from the body as it lunged toward A Li.
I shouted in alarm, "A Li! Watch out!"
A Li swiftly dodged with a nimble flip but just as I began to breathe a sigh of relief, Old Qiao yelled out, "Not good! Its target is A Si Girl!"
At that moment, my senior sister was on A Li's back. A Li's flip had completely exposed her to Nv Ba. No one anticipated this turn of events; even the quickest reflexes couldn't respond in time. I watched as my sister stiffened her back and executed a swift leap off A Li.
Simultaneously, a cluster of Black Demon Clouds descended rapidly. Everyone scattered to avoid them as Yao Yun struck one of the Buddha's arms, creating a gaping black hole where only half an arm remained dangling in midair.
My sister went wild, screaming uncontrollably as she scrambled upwards with agility akin to that of a monkey. Old Qiao pointed at her and shouted, "This is bad! We must not let it escape; otherwise, A Si Girl's life is at stake!"
"Do you really need to tell us that?" my junior brother retorted angrily as he threw Ze Zhang towards my sister. The hook latched onto her lower back momentarily stabilizing her.
Seeing escape within reach, my sister refused to let this opportunity slip away easily. She strained against Ze Zhang but failed to break free. With a frantic howl, she expelled a torrent of Poison Babies that cascaded towards us like a mudslide.
"A Li!" I cried out as everyone quickly dodged aside. My junior brother had no choice but to release his grip at that moment. The Nv Ba shot upwards like an arrow just as the Black Cloud Abyss was about to close in on it, narrowly escaping.
The crowd had no time to sort out their feelings when suddenly a violent rotation began, and the entire Buddha Cave shook violently. Corpses from the Wanfo Cave fell one after another like torpedoes. The Black Cloud Abyss, having swallowed a Nv Ba, became extremely enraged, continuously vomiting thunderous Yao Yun that crashed around us, nearly taking our lives several times. The Poison Baby that the Nv Ba had devoured cried out in heart-wrenching agony, almost piercing our eardrums. If we hadn’t dodged in time earlier, it would have been us crying now.
In the midst of the chaos, my junior shouted, “Damn it! It seems that the female demon is not clean; she caused Grandpa Black Cloud to suffer food poisoning and vomit everywhere! Senior Brother, Old Qiao A Li, I think we shouldn’t just sit here waiting for death. Let’s grab our weapons and fight our way out!” He drew his Ze Zhang and was ready to charge upward.
Old Qiao hurriedly called out, “It’s useless! The formation has been broken; there’s no way up! Let’s hide here for a bit; maybe we can survive a little longer.”
My junior spat, “Nonsense! You’ve lived long enough; I haven’t even married yet! If you want to wait for death, do it yourself. Don’t drag me down with you; I’ll burn more paper money for you tomorrow!”
The Ancient Guge Silver Eye shook violently—no, the entire Buddha Cave was shaking intensely, comparable to a magnitude seven earthquake. Although my junior had his Ze Zhang in hand, I still didn’t trust him to go up alone. Just as I was about to follow him, a Yao Yun suddenly struck me head-on. Luckily, I dodged in time; the Yao Yun grazed past my left ear, taking a chunk of flesh with it and leaving my head ringing.
At that moment, my junior suddenly started gesturing wildly at me, but I couldn’t hear anything. Then Old Qiao began to gesture as well, his old face contorted with various expressions that made him look particularly fierce. I suddenly felt a chill run down my back—could it be… that the Nv Ba had returned? Right behind me?
I could hardly bear to think further; my mind went blank as my neck reflexively twisted back. My heart raced rapidly, and just as the corner of my left eye caught sight of a dark shadow, something tightened around my neck.
Then my vision flipped 360 degrees as whatever was around my neck pulled me toward the center of hell at breakneck speed. I desperately tried to scream for help, but my throat was tightly constricted; I couldn’t even breathe.
Was this how Qian Yi would die? Without even seeing the murderer who took his life?
In the midst of the chaotic struggle, I suddenly touched something and felt a surge of hope—perhaps this time, this wronged ghost wouldn’t meet its end!
I drew my staff and swung it wildly at whatever was pulling me. Due to lack of oxygen, my vision was nearly gone; I could only faintly perceive some blurred light and many chaotic moving shadows.
At that moment, a very faint voice came from my right: “Damn it, Senior Brother! Stop swinging! It’s me! Old Qiao, take a look—am I possessed too? If I am possessed, let’s throw him here and not let him harm us!”
Old Qiao's voice came through, mixed with the rumbling sounds of impact: "Foaming at the mouth, pale complexion, eyes rolling back... This isn't possession; it's because you were holding too tight."
"Oh, my bad, my bad! Just eager to save a life! Let's go!"
As my junior brother let go, I finally caught my breath, only to be yanked by the arm and jumped down hurriedly. About half a second later, I heard a series of thuds, and my backside crashed onto something hard and smooth, causing me to nearly burst into tears from the pain! Could it be... we had escaped?
