Third Granduncle Master cursed breathlessly, "If you can't even dodge this, you might as well roll away with your master!" 0

As he spoke, Wang Meng awkwardly turned his body, attempting to deliver another sweeping kick at me. I managed to evade it just in time with a roll, but at that moment, the snake tail that had been continuously attacking me suddenly changed direction and swept toward Third Granduncle Master. 0

My heart raced as I realized that Wang Meng's target had never been me; those two attacks were merely a distraction. The real goal was Third Granduncle Master. Damn it, this Wang Meng was truly cunning! 0

I shouted urgently, "Watch out!" 0

The snake tail, propelled by its previous momentum and completely unexpected, caught Third Granduncle Master off guard. He didn't even have time to react before Wang Meng's thick and powerful tail wrapped around him, lifting him off the ground entirely. 0

As everyone knows, a Python Snake relies on the strength of its abdominal muscles to constrict its prey. Even an adult leopard would not survive more than ten seconds in a Python's grip, let alone a human. 0

Third Granduncle Master's face grew increasingly pale. At first, he struggled desperately, but soon he lacked even the strength to move. If I didn't save him now, this time it would be truly over! 0

"Damn it, if I'm going to die, then so be it!" I shouted, gritting my teeth. I pulled out my staff and maneuvered to Wang Meng's diagonal rear. With a swift thrust, I plunged the staff into the snake's belly. 0

Unfortunately, the scales on the snake's abdomen were too thick. Despite using all my strength, I only managed to penetrate about five centimeters. My palms were slick with cold sweat, and as I slipped, the staff flew out of my hands. 0

Wang Meng let out a pained hiss and whipped around sharply, glaring at me with its yellow eyes as if it wanted to swallow me whole! 0

I quickly waved my hands and laughed nervously, "Misunderstanding! Misunderstanding!" Not caring whether it understood or not, I executed a quick forward roll around the snake's body to retrieve my staff. 0

However, it seemed Wang Meng had anticipated my move. Its tail lashed back in the opposite direction and collided with me just as I rolled past. To be precise, it sent me flying like a golf ball. 0

Two seconds later, accompanied by a dull thud, I landed hard on the ground. Pain shot through my entire body as if my bones had been broken. My chest burned intensely; damn it, I must be bleeding! 0

I was just about to get up when a wave of sour, metallic liquid surged up my throat, and I vomited a mouthful of congealed blood. 0

I cursed under my breath; at this moment, I didn’t even have the strength to lift my arms. I could only force my eyelids open. My right eye seemed swollen shut, and my vision was extremely blurry. After focusing for a while, I vaguely saw a massive creature slithering towards me like a snake. As it drew closer, I realized it wasn’t a snake at all, but a giant centipede. 0

Its head was raised high, while the part below its neck lay flat against the ground. Countless long legs extended from its sides, moving it forward. Strangely enough, it had a pair of large wings on its back. So it wasn’t a centipede; it was a Mantis! 0

The Mantis quickly crawled up to my face. Oddly enough, it had the face of a horse and eyes like a snake... The mere thought of a snake made me shiver instinctively, but I still lacked the strength to move or escape. 0

The Mantis seemed to have decided that I was an easy target, sniffing at my scalp to check for any unusual scents or lice hiding in my hair. It appeared quite satisfied with me since I was bald and posed no risk of harboring additives—perfect for consumption. 0

In that fleeting moment, I caught sight of one of Third Granduncle Master's legs emerging from beneath the Mantis's abdomen. It seemed that Third Granduncle Master had already checked in over there, but it didn’t matter; I would join him soon. 0

I peacefully closed my aching eyelids and prayed that when the Mantis swallowed me, it would first bite off my neck so that I wouldn’t feel anything and could avoid suffering. I wasn’t afraid of death; what terrified me was dying slowly—breaking bones and tearing tendons—that would truly be worse than death! 0

I felt a warm, foul breath spray onto my neck; it had begun its feast. Yet, strangely, I felt no pain at all. Perhaps it really had bitten off my neck as I wished, and now I was already dead, unable to feel anything... Ah, so this is what it feels like to be dead—hazy and unclear, aware yet unable to grasp anything, as if in a dream... 0

Suddenly, two loud bangs echoed through the air. A cold liquid splattered across my face like icy winter rain, followed by a heavy thud as if something substantial had crashed to the ground. 0

The sudden chill jolted me awake. I opened my eyes to see a gigantic creature with a human head and serpent body collapsed beside my left hand. Its head had two peanut-sized holes in it, crimson blood gushing out rapidly. The ground was already soaked with blood, attracting hundreds of ants the size of winter jujubes. 0

I hurriedly stood up to avoid the spreading cold blood and the unusual army of ants. Just then, Old Qiao’s and Cold Bench ’s panting voices reached me from not far away: “Run! Run!” 0

As I opened my arms just in time to catch Old Qiao, I noticed his face was even paler than when we last parted; in just a short span of ten minutes, he seemed to have aged several years. 0

I wanted to ask him why they had returned so soon, but before I could speak, the ground began to tremble violently. At that moment, yellow smoke suddenly billowed up from the southern forest; amidst the haze were towering shadows rushing toward us. 0

Cold Bench followed my gaze and said urgently, “There’s no time! Run!” He gestured for me to help support Old Qiao as we made our escape. 0

I had a sudden thought and quickly said, "Wait, there's still Third Granduncle Master." 0

Cold Bench, upon hearing this, entrusted Old Qiao to me and swiftly lifted the unconscious Third Granduncle Master, almost flying northward. 0

The commotion behind us grew louder and closer, filled with various screams and the sound of footsteps. Unable to contain my curiosity, I glanced back. When I finally saw the true form of that thing, I couldn't help but gasp in shock—dozens of snake-bodied creatures with human heads, the Shui Lai Tou, were charging at us with all their might. 0

"It's probably... come for revenge. Damn it, if I had known... I shouldn't have fired those two shots!" Old Qiao remarked as he turned his head to look back. 0

I was startled. "You had guns? Then why are we running? Just fire a few more shots at them!" 0

Cold Bench replied calmly, "We only had two bullets, and we've used them all." 0

Suddenly, I didn't know what to think. Those precious two bullets were used on me, which showed how much I meant to him. With that thought in mind, I felt a surge of energy and picked up the pace, practically flying with Old Qiao in tow. 0

Just then, my senior sister and the others suddenly rushed over from the north, waving their hands and shouting urgently, "Run! Run fast!" 0

The three of us were taken aback, exchanging glances filled with an ominous premonition. Turning to look again, we indeed saw a layer of yellow smoke rising behind my senior sister. Within the smoke loomed at least thirty tall dark figures. 0
